I am the author of the Mortal Realm Witch series and have many works in progress about animals, magic, superheroes and more. I read mostly children’s and tween fiction. I have recently started attempting to work on some realistic fiction that takes much from my personal life and experiences growing up with selective mutism, living with social anxiety, general anxiety, depression and BPD. My current series and many of my upcoming works in progress are fun, lighthearted stories for ages 8 and up, but some of my future writing might be for older readers. The Mortal Realm Witch series is uniquely written. It grows with the reader as well as introducing them to different types of writing. Book 1 features short stories. I have always written stories from the time I first learned how to print, but throughout all of my grade school years I thought I was going to be a vet. I never even considered the possibility of becoming a writer even though I loved to write. I guess becoming a writer and not just someone who wrote stories, all began with my high school tutor who was one of the first people outside of my family to see any of my writing. It was her that suggested that I publish some of my stories. I did have a few stories that she read and didn't like so knowing that she wanted me to publish them because she honestly believed I was a good writer is where that first thought of being a writer really crossed my mind. Then when she asked if I would be willing to do an interview with the local newspaper about my writing in hopes I would find a publisher and I said I would, I think this is where the official decision was made. However, how I got published is another story! (less)

I often get ideas for something other than what I am supposed to be putting most of my focus into but usually if I'm not coming up with ideas for one particular book or story I will just move on to another one. This describes so much of my own school life and experiences with growing up with selective mutism. School was not a very enjoyable place for me.

I am not shy.

A day in the life with Selective Mutism is tiring, frightening and challenging. If I think back to my high school days, I remember the feeling of absolute fear rushing through my body when I tried to go about my day to day life. I re...

“Okay," I said. "Now can I try riding a broomstick?"

"No. Most witches don't use broomsticks because they aren't that comfortable. The only reason witches use broomsticks is because they are lightweight and easy to get off the ground."

"Okay, so what can I fly?"

"At the moment, nothing," responded Trillman. "When you are ready, you can fly whatever you find comfortable and can get off the ground, as long as it isn't me."

"So when do I get to fly my convertible?"

"Convertible?”

“To go home, you usually will use that door over there." I looked where Trom gestured and saw empty space.

"What door?" I asked.

"Oh, sorry. Until you go through your closet door for the first time there won't be a door there."

"So then what do I use now?" I asked.

"You use that door." I looked and this time what he showed me was a door-only it looked like a pet door.

"Is that an oversized pet door?" I asked.”

“A dragon for a familiar!" Trom exclaimed.

"That's what I said to her or close to it anyway," the dragon said.

"You're supposed to be helping me make you my familiar," I said to the dragon.

"Yeah, I know; I meant for that to sound better than it did," the dragon replied.”

I didn’t do my homework.

I answered him, “It’s much too hard.”
He said, “You didn’t try.”
I told him, “My dog ate it.”
He said, “You have no dog.”
I said, “I went out running.”
He said, “You never jog.”
