Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments Preston, are you just a prevert or what?

First there was that awful pun in 3589 that even I would have eschewed, and then you're lusting after young grooms named Tom? Though I have to admit some confusion here. Is young Tom: (a) just married, or (b) about to be married and you hope to head >ahem< him off, or (c) he works with horses?

Inquiring minds wanna know, you know!

In 1926, the American Chemical Society officially decided to use aluminum in its publications; American dictionaries typically label the spelling aluminium as "chiefly British…The spelling used throughout the 19th century by most U.S. chemists was aluminium, but common usage is less clear. The aluminum spelling is used in the Webster's Dictionary of 1828.

message 3028: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments My father was employed by Eastern Metals Warehouse which fabricated aluminum to order. He didn't need your fancy dictionaries to know how to pronounce it. Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments Dear Pouting Roger and (apparently) teasing Preston,

Perhaps someone would let the rest of us in on the joke/history/whatever? On most choices that are unknown there's at least a reasonable possibility that Google will turn up enough information to make a rational choice, or enough so that you know the only choice is a cyber-coin-toss.

Ain't no way, nohow, I'm going to Google those dates (in unknown years) to figure this out.

So, guys, wassup?
