natural Christmas tree or artificial one?

message 5359: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Christmas? What this "Christmas" thingy everyone keeps harping on about? Is this some new twee Internet thing I'm not getting?

It sounds so artificial and made up. Like it was appropriated from some other thing and hogtied together to make it seem genuine. I'm thinking it's all nothing but propaganda and the most successful campaign of doublespeak ever carried out. Hogwash! Bah humbug! It's just another fad of bold faced lies like the Republican Party Platform whose sole intent is to confuse and disperse any concerted effort to foster peace & good will in the world and instead foster disharmony, war and chaos to further inflation the bank accounts of the war profiteering plutocrats.

spicy or sweet?

message 5361: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments spicy

Christmas is really Saturnalia, the Roman festival when the masters became the slaves and slaves the masters, which is no doubt whence came the famous Christian saying: "The first shall be last and the last shall be first."

Which is a paradox really, because no sooner have the last become the the first than they should really become the last, which means they deserve to be the first
