I second your thoughts :P

James Cavendish? Which series?

Up in the Air.. :)

Well...lets just say I also found myself throwing my Kindle on the bed hoping Ava would SERIOUSLY open her damn eyes and not give in to his demands...
OK so she kind of annoyed me in the first book because she kept running away all the time but NOW... for god sake woman, Where's your woman hood gone?
Every single time he did something wrong and she wanted it out with him she gave in to the sex he gave her! I think the only sex scene that really did it for me was on the rowing machine...I mean I'm not going to lie, that got me all hot and bothered and I couldnt wait to see the boyfriend later that evening...
Anyway I'm going of track now!!
Back to Ava and Jesse...the shocking scene (those of you who have read it know what I'm talking about)
if that was me I would have gone NUTS at Jesse for walking in and seeing what I saw but NO she forgave him like 24hrs later...REALLY!...REALLY AVA!!!
Oh and please tell me he has a better dark past than what we already know...
If there's more manipulation, disrespect and stupid-ness in the third book then I wont be able to finish it!

Yes Agreed. He was fucked up.

I got to a point were I just wanted to stop reading the book, but I couldn't put it down cause I was hoping...praying.. crossing my god damn fingers and toes that Ava would seriously grow a back bone and tell Jesse to eff off.. lol.. Jesse exhausted me! I'm only 1/2 looking forward to the next book.

I think sometimes we forget that we are reading "fiction". Yes women find themselves in relationships like this. But this is "fiction" it will have a "revelation","break-through",a "redemption" and a "happy ending that is a constant work in progress".
This happens to be one of my favorite books.Huge praise to Jodi Malpas on her first series.
I see a guy who is seriously f'd up and we don't really understand why yet.He has never cared for anyone until Ava came into his life and he doesn't know how to take care of her other than to be so protectively controlling. He has such a fear of something happening to her, such a fear of losing her and we don't understand why yet.I promise there is a reason. And on the other hand he has never had to answer to anyone so he is oblivious to the fact that Ava would have issues with him being around the women he has had sex with because he feels like she should know how commited he is to her that there should be no doubt.
In the real world tho how many of us women would let our men work side by side with all the women they screwed even knowing they love us?Yep! Exactly!!!
Anyway...Fiction...I might want to be blindfolded and strapped into a sex swing by my drop dead gorgeous, sexy, model, billionaire while he pulls my hair and smacks my ass bringing me to climax over and over until I can barely raise my head.Does that make me a weak woman who deep down inside wants to be abused??? Hell No!!! Just makes me a Freak ;) It's Escapism.Just my opinion.

LOVE IT!

i agree with you Chrissie. i really got frustrated with Ava and wanted her to defy and challenge hi. i mean how could it take her so long to realize why her pills were disappearing! i mean, she had the power to get answers from Jesse but didnt use it at the right time. Jesse was so controlling and dominating and she just took it. Arg!! Right now i dont know if i want to read the 3rd book. with the way this book ended i dont know whether Jesse would have a justifiable reason for acting the way he did. Curious though to see how she would handle Mikel(the swedish millionaire)All that could have been done in the second book as the story dragged on and on. i suppose trilogy is the order of the day now.

There ARE other series out there for those who disliked This Man trilogy.
I guess we can't all agree on everything because, personaly, I found Up In The Air trilogy the biggest waste of my time and money but to each their own.
Peace!

Well said!I enjoy the escapism

Thank God for some sense on this thread.
Well said, Bravo..

hot one. I thought the author did a Fantastic job, loved it, thought it was very funny. I love the interaction between Ava and Kate made me think of my friends.

Well said.!!

Jesse and Ava didn't have a single redeemable characteristic between them in the second book.
At least give me SOMEONE to root for!

I hope there is as much possessive behaviour as like the 1st 2
As it is only fiction...
Loved it!!

Sooooo Lori, What did you think of Confessed then.??
4.5 Stars for me....

I agree...the thing with this series is that it had parts of it that made me laugh and Jesse was perfect in this book...he had his scars both outside and inside and he was so scared of losing the one person who made him feel again

I was frustrated and annoyed with books 1 and 2 as well.... but HOPED book 3 would shed some light on these twisted characters.... and IT DID!! I loved book 3 and thought the author did a great job bringing it all together!!!! Keep reading!

Typos were annoying... keep reading!

I felt the same way.... books 1 and 2 were difficult at times to get through and frustrating to read BUT book 3 was great.... loved the way it all came together in the end!

absolutely...

Jesse and Ava didn't have a single redeemable characteristic between ..."
how true...i cant even imagine how fucked up he is...and even after he has found ava...its not like he is showing any development....and ava is just plain dumb...in 50 shades christian had the sense to change his life after meeting the love of his life..and ana had enough self respect to not put up with his whippings...ava on the other hand ...is just a lost cause

This is one of my favorites... I am eagerly anticipating Blake's story.

Exactly... Thus why it's called a trilogy. Cos it's a "journey" of reveals & growth. Everything is not always gonna be spelled out for or make sense a lot of time to the reader, in books 1 or 2. And if the author does it justice, everything is always laid to rest properly in the final book. But on the flip side of that coin sometimes the character, plot, the way it's unfolding can be either boring, pointless, or so irritating to the reader that they just can't continue. So I do understand that as well.
But for me this trilogy was on point. Even though I had my moments as well but overall I think it was worth the read & I was more than happy with how it all came to a close.

Ava is the most ludacrious person EVER! All of her actions are absurd. For whatever reason I got sucked in to this story and I read all 3 but neither one of them redeemed themselves in any capacity for me. In the last book- Ava's selfishness takes on a whole new meaning. And Jesse...well Jesse is coo coo for coco puffs.

couldn't agree more i loved jesse and this man but the second book killed it for me the communal room scene at the party made him seem like a dirty old man and the whipping scene with sarah pissed me off big time. really hated the second book and anything to do with the manor ( it came across as a sleazy sex joint) i really gave up on the relationship in book 2
