Elisa | 24 comments I am giving Maas the benefit of the doubt and I am sure she has a great master plan for the series. That being said, (view spoiler) As for which "team" I am on...finish the book and then read this (view spoiler)

Aww cool! Did you read the novellas too? Loved them!

Heather James (makexbelieve) | 15 comments This book was a slow starter for me; it took a little while for me to get my head around Celaena: is she a fearless assassin, a girly-girl obsessed with her appearance or a book worm? Being all three seemed a bit much, but after reading the whole book and the novellas, I'm OK with the idea now.

What I really loved was just how rich the back story is - Maas delves into a lot throughout ToG, but also hints that there's more to come and more lands to be described.

With regards to teams I'm pretty torn. (view spoiler)

Oh wow, I forgot about that guy! Hmm I have no idea, that could be him! Yeah, the novellas made all the difference for me and I liked Celaena much more because of them :)

yeah i read 2 of them and they are really good.

message 108: by Elisa (new) - rated it 4 stars

Elisa | 24 comments I forgot about that guy too! It might have been significant then.
The novellas make you care about Celaena so much more and they are great reads. Graceling is a good comparison to Throne of Glass. I loved Katsa and Po and the idea of graces! Grave Mercy is also a wonderful assassin read. The main character is an assassin for death trained by nuns. What isn't there to like?

Heather James (makexbelieve) | 15 comments I've just added Graceling to my 'want to read' list. Will look out for it next time I'm at the library.

Wow that one sounds really good too!

Ruby Black (ruby_black) Yeah, the mystery guy I think most definitely was supposed to nudge at Dorian.

I am glad you guys liked the read! The part that (view spoiler).

message 114: by Gabby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gabby I don't think it's true... I haven't read about him, though, so I wouldn't know...All I know is the book is awesome :)

Ruby Black (ruby_black) I know :( Did anyone see the cover for book 2 yet?

Hoping for more novellas before book 2, but nothing so far.

message 121: by Gabby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gabby Cover for book 2!!! Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas

I personally thought this one was better:

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)

That's wicked!

message 124: by Ruby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruby Black (ruby_black) Which is wicked, the cover for the 1st one or the 2nd one?

message 125: by David, Mr. Blue Eyes; He's the Best--Ain't no lie!! ;) (new) - rated it 4 stars

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 10717 comments Mod
First ;)

message 126: by Elisa (new) - rated it 4 stars

Elisa | 24 comments Quite the change from the cover of Throne of Glass.

message 127: by Ruby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruby Black (ruby_black) Yep, the 2nd cover seems a little unnatural; the posture and the movement in the cape don't sit well with me...I dunno maybe I am reading into it way too much lol.

Dang it! I haven't had a chance to start this group read yet. Trying to finish up a R&R.

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments Arg. I liked this book a lot. I literally almost lost my mind when I discovered the sequel wasn't out yet.
But I went and bought the prequels, so that made me a little less crazy. :P

I know, right, so hard to wait for the sequel and I think the prequels made it even harder because they were soo awesome!

message 132: by Ruby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruby Black (ruby_black) @Jenelle, I am assuming that means you did not reading any of the novellas. Oh dear me :0 If you thought the first book made you crazy, wait till you read the novellas!!

At least the sequel will be out at the end of the summer! Only 4 months left!

Guess you really liked the novellas, huh?

*whispering* the novellas were hard, but my favorite as well. Really liked the 1st novel, LOVED the novellas.

Yes! That's not too bad!

message 136: by Gabby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gabby I like both the covers. I can't wait till the cover release for the second one to Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas (The US edition) Although I get the light blue cover one..I like all of the covers, lol.

Jenelle Compton | 23 comments Oh I went and got the novellas, but I hate waiting!
For some reason, the sequal was rated already, so I assumed it was out and I just couldn't find it :-P
I'm glad that's at least not the case...
Also: group! Pick a finished series of books occasionally! all this waiting....

Well, I'm extremely late reading this, but I finally got to it, and I LOVED IT!!! I haven't read all the novellas yet, although I caught some of the spoilers. I really need to read them!

(view spoiler)

Here's my review
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

This made me think of Rae Carson's series that I LOVE, The Girl of Fire and Thorns , just in the style of writing. The comparison to Graceling is also good, loved Graceling!

Awesome review! You'll LOVE the novellas, I'd say twice as good as the full book :)

Thanks! I know I should have read all the novellas first, but I was just too impatient lol! Didn't have enough $ on my book card to buy them, and I had my copy of Throne of Glass just sitting there...I had to read it!

message 142: by Gabby (last edited Jun 15, 2013 07:04AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gabby Is it weird that this book reminds me of The Selection?

message 143: by Jenny, Always smiling! :-D (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
Hmmm...I never would have made that connection. I guess the whole royalty and castle thing is the same...but there isn't much fantasy to the Selection.

message 144: by Gabby (last edited Jun 15, 2013 07:44AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gabby I think it's because of Prince Maxon/Dorian :) They are so alike to me :)

Yes I would agree with that!
