"Do you regret it?"she asked softly as James had jumped out of Ryan's arms and was leading them away
"regret what?" He asked softly.
"What we did."she asked softly ,@how I feel"
"no, of course not." He murmured.
"Really?because I know you love him."
"i do feel guilty but i could never regret what we did or how we feel." He told her gently, taking her hand.
She smiled up at him,"promise me you won't. "
"I won't. i couldn't even if i tried." Ryan smiled warmly at her.
He blushed "what makes you say that?"
He chuckled "and that makes me amazing?"
"No. That makes me have a good sense of who you are. And you are a amazing person by personality
His cheeks grew hotter as she spoke. "thank you." He murmured.
He stuck his tongue out at her "no I'm not, its hot outside." He defended, though it was only 70 degrees.
He stuck his tongue out at her "oh shush." He laughed softly. "i better go help James." He quickly kissed her cheek. "I'll be back when we're both squeaky clean." With that, he went to James and with him to the side of the river.
She smiled softly watching them goJames splashed around
Ryan stripped and did a canon ball, splashing James.
Ryan chuckled and grabbed James, hugging him to his chest "are you ready to get clean?"
"no you're not." He chuckled. "and even if you are, you're just going to have to get cleaner."
"You can play while we wash." He smiled, splashing him.
He splashed back,"I'm gonna be a fish!"
"why do you want to be a fish? Fish get eaten." He grabbed him and pulled him close,pretending to bite him. "see?"
He wriggled out of his arms,"not when they're quick!"
"hey! Come back here!" He tried to grab him.
"please? I don't want the river to snatch you away."
"so you want to be stinky and dirty? That's gross." He scrunched his nose playfully.
"are you sure? Cause i think you're pretty stinky." He teased.
"I think your stinky!!"he splashing him and ran in deeper. He slipped on the rocks under his feet and fell
"James!" Ryan went to him quickly and grabbed him before he could wash away, pulling him back to the edge of the river. "are you okay?!"
He clung to him shaking to scared to speak
"hey, its okay." He held him close as if to protect him from the river. "you're okay." He murmured. "i think we're clean now so lets get back to the cabin. He carried James out of the river and helped him get dressed before pulling on his own clothes.
"I don't like the lake"he said quietly after a long while
"hey, it was an accident. You didn't get hurt so everything is okay." He pulled him into a hug. "Anna, we're done." He called to her.
She came out confused,"everything ok?"
"James fell in the river so he's a bit shaken up. Could you get him a blanket?" He asked, carrying the boy inside the cabin.
He sat on the bed, holding James close.
James slowly fell asleep holding his hand
He kissed his hand softly, looking at Anna. "he was really scared." He murmured.
"Oh poor thing. How did he get so far from you?"
