She giggled and nodded clapping,then yawned
He picked her up and sat in his big reading chair, putting her in his lap. "wasn't me to read you a quick story.?"
She nodded handinnhim green eggs and ham by dr.seuss
He chuckled and opened it, starting to read.
Half way through she fell asleep holding him
He closed the book and held her close, letting her sleep.
Her mum came to pick her up a few hours later,"in do sorry
"why? I had a blast." He chuckled.
"It's almost closing time and I left her for do long!i didn't nmrsm to i just got so caught up..did she bother you to much?"
He shook his head "no. She was an angel. Though she insists she is a monkey." He chuckled. "it was my pleasure watching her for you, don't worry about a thing."
"Thank you "she smiled.emma had woken up and had been sneaking around in hands slick box and ran towards her mom with cookie crumbs all over her face,"mama!"She picked her up kissing he cheek shaking her head,"we don't steal food"
"But angwel daddy!"
"Emma!"she scolded,"I'm sorry
"no, its fine. I was going to give her the cookie anyway." He blinked when Emma called him her dad. "oh, no no sweety, I'm just your friend." He ruffled her hair, smiling gently.
He looked at her mother apologetically. "I'm sorry, i don't know what's come over her. Where is her father?"
"Her dads out on business and she probably is really missing uim
"oh. Maybe you should call him later so she can talk to him?" He murmured.
"Henson the other side of the world he is sleeping when we are up and the other way..."she shrugged,"he'll be back soon
He sighed nodding. "alright. I'm sure she doesn't really think of me as her dad anyway." He smiled.
"I'mSure she missed he"she relied hugging her,"say bye Emma"
"No!"she held out her arms towards James,@stway here"

You make her so attached to you in two days?"
"i have no idea." He held her hands "Emma, you have to go with your momma." He smiled " I'll see you again tomorrow." He kissed one of her little hands "okay?"
He nodded "i pinky promise." He held out his pinky for her.

He waved bye back, a little disappointed to see her go. Now it was closing time. He started locking up the store.
He looked at his phone texting back -yeah, i just got off work. I'll be home in five minutes- he finished locking up and got in his car.
He drive back to the motel. He went in to their room. "Jade, I'm home."
He went over to her "what did you want to talk about?" He murmured gently, sitting on the edge of the bed.
He shook his head "its fine. Its really my fault. I didn't think before i opened my mouth." He sighed.
She patted the dot next to her,"I want to know more about her
"you... You do?" He sat beside her.
She nodded laying he head on his chest,"I wil never see her but I want to know how she is, I know it's better this way, she deserves a better life. In very happy she got it
"well, she comes to the book store everyday apparently. She loves to read. And she loves cookies." He chuckled "she ended up eating both of mine when i watched her for her adoptive mother today." He put and arm around jade and kissed her forehead.
"Why were you watched her for her mum?"she adker
"her mom had to go to a meeting and i had evidently given her a cookie, making her hyper. So since it would be bothersome to have a small kid running around during s meeting, i offered to watch her. It was my fault anyway." He sighed.

"besides, i think she likes me." He decided not to tell her about how Emma had called him daddy.
"she's adorable. She looks just like you-well, except for the two missing front teeth." He chuckled.
He nodded. "she falls asleep every time i read to her."
She giggled,"your that boring???"she teased him
He pouted "no, my voice is just soothing!"
"angwel." He said, copying the way she said it. "because I'm blonde." He sighed.
