YouKneeK | 1412 comments Haha, I’m very happy the prank had some success!

What sold it was instead of making it a new thread/ topic, you inserted it into an already begun conversation.
Bravo!!

It's nice and only fair that someone pull a prank on us after all our silliness ^^ Well played, madam!

message 1254: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Also, not to beat an excellent prank to death, but it was almost as if YKK had been studying me and planning for this for a while. Not only is it absolutely something I would've done (added it to the shelf in 2020, I don't remember if I did or not), but forgetting to remove it and noticing a full year later, because someone pointed it out to me, is probably one of the worst things I can think of XD But then I think we're pretty similar in liking things to be neat and organized, so maybe it was actually very easy to do spur of the moment :)

message 1255: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments It was actually completely spur of the moment. Some evil little corner of my mind perked up at the “it's not on the shelf” comment and whispered to me about how very easy it would be to sow confusion. ;)

message 1256: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I will send you some of the mint chocolate brownies I have in the oven as a reward for a job well done!

message 1257: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6142 comments oo0000oo

mint and chocolate = my favorite combination which was very difficult to find in France as they don't seem to like the two flavors together

message 1258: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I will bring some to the clubhouse!

message 1259: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments They sound delicious, but since they were described as a “reward”, I think I’ll just wait to see if CBRetriever suffers any ill effects first!

message 1260: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments XD

message 1261: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Actually, your reward is this lime I put in a coconut :) You're welcome!

message 1262: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments LOL, you are evil!

message 1263: by Anna (last edited Apr 03, 2021 08:25PM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments The 2020 April Fools poll was almost a bunch of books that were somehow related to funny SFFBC moments from the previous year. One of them was Key Lime Coconut & Murder. I'm glad I got to "use" it a year later, since we changed the poll to more SFF looking things :)

edit: The woman being poisoned in that blurb is not at all relevant to what we've been discussing! XD

message 1264: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments LOL, that’s hilarious. I think I’m relieved we read Bunnicula instead!

message 1265: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1280 comments So, this Bunnicula is a real book? That we should (or can) read?!

message 1266: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
yes! it's a delightful children's book.

It is a fabulous SERIES. Read them all.

it was fun to walk down memory lane in that thread <3

message 1270: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I got a grocery delivery today, and I ordered a new to me chocolate, and it is so cute! It's also delicious, vegan, organic, fair trade, and it has a lovely hazelnut crisp, so I'm definitely bringing this to the clubhouse! I'll stock the pantry with all three flavors! But the fox one (hazelnut) is definitely my favorite! ^_^ The bunny is plain "milk" chocolate, and the polar bear is white chocolate with vanilla.

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Well I finally made it. 300! Funny enough my review for 300 was the first one where apparently my review and opinions for More Than Human are clearly wrong!

My contribution to the clubhouse...

message 1272: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Congrats Hank! ^_^

(I need more of that foxolate, it was delicious.)

Woo!! 300!!

Clearly wrong?? I've been avoiding the spoiler threads so that I could jump in soon. But now I'm curious lol

message 1274: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments I would have linked my review but I couldn't figure it out quickly. Somone (random person) decided someone on the internet (me) was wrong and jumped in :) The part that made it funny was that apparently I was wrong just having an opinion.

Congrats Hank!!! BTW if you are attracting random dissenting commenters to your review, in my view it means you are doing something right!! My review of Watership Down had several people defending the honor of good, moral rabbits. smh...

WOW! Congratulations, 300 seems superhuman!

Does the Tequila come with lemon and salt? Then I'm in (if it's not in one upper, very exclusive level of the clubhouse)

message 1281: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments I usually go with lime and ice but for you Sabrina, lemon and salt for sure.

message 1282: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 375 comments We have a ritual in Switzerland, not sure if it's known in other parts of the world too: lick the salt, trink the tequila and then bite into the lemon :-)

PS: Congrats on the 'fame' Hank. Don't let it go to your head ;)

Child's play. Forgive me if my memory is not entirely accurate here, but in my misspent youth (well, 18-to-25 demographic) the improved version had one licking the salt from the nape of one's date's neck, drinking the shot, and biting the lemon wedge from
said date's lips. It was named "(some other nationality) shots" -- I can't remember! Probably named erroneously, but I'm guessing not Swiss!

YouKneeK | 1412 comments Hank wrote: "Well I finally made it. 300!"

Congrats on 300, Hank! At least it will be memorable. ;)

So what I’m understanding from your contribution is that reading 300 books from our group shelf is enough to drive you to drink?

message 1286: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments @Mike Seems like a well spent youth to me

@YouKneek The books weren't all good, I need some help with a few.

oh my! SFFBC after hours club has started it seems! haha

message 1288: by Eva (new)

Eva | 968 comments I prefer the "lick cinnamon, drink brown tequila, eat slice of orange" version.

Yay for honorable rabbits, lol!
rabbit knight

I've also once had someone tell me that I had no business criticizing a famous fairytale king's interpersonal behavior and resulting suitability as a romantic partner. 😄

message 1290: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments Today is the day… I hit my 200th book with The Black Company. It seems these days our “reward” for reaching a milestone is that we have to provide food and drinks for everybody else, rather than having gifts showered upon us? I’m not sure this is fair! I don’t cook or bake, except in moments of rare and usually soon-regretted insanity, but I’ll do my best to come up with something...

For my fellow oddballs (if there are any of you out there) who don’t drink alcohol, soda, coffee, or tea, but have an irresistible addiction to carbonation, I present you with a variety of flavors and brands of sparkling water! Straight from my own fridge. I really wish I’d had the lime and coconut varieties at home for this picture. :)

And for dessert, I’ll meet you all at The Cheesecake Factory! Alas, this picture is from the website and not a thing sitting in front of me. Even though there’s a Cheesecake Factory pretty close to me, I haven’t eaten there in years. I need at least 9 of you to come split one 10 ways with me. I think that’s the only way I could justify the 1380 calories, 98 grams of fat, 58 grams of saturated fat, and 87 grams of sugar in one piece of this thing!

it's ok, we didn't have soda, so we can have a whole cake.

and congrats! what a milestone! and yes we celebrate like hobbits here haha

message 1293: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments Haha, thanks! I like your logic. I haven't had soda in... years. So does that mean I can have one of each cake?!

A tragedy :( You'll have to read the next 100 books very quickly so that you can rectify this!

message 1296: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Congrats YouKneek! I too am addicted to carbonation so I totally approve. My soda stream is going fairly constantly.

Congratulations! What a milestone! I'm up for dessert, I love cheesecake and I'd love to visit The Cheesecake Factory. The Big Bang Theory has made me curious and so far I've never had the chance (living in Switzerland).

message 1300: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments Thanks Allison, I will now be consulting you for all my health and nutrition concerns. I, um, may not actually follow your advice though!

Haha Anna, I got tired of those flavors actually, and mixing them together did NOT help, so it may be at least another 100 books before I’m ready to buy them again!

Thanks Hank, Michelle, and Sabrina!

Sabrina, as a fellow cheesecake fan, I really do recommend visiting The Cheesecake Factory at least once if you ever get the chance! Just maybe don’t eat the whole piece of cheesecake all in the same month. ;)
