What I really hate in m/m romance stories

I hate that in almost every M/M book I've ever read both guys having anal sex have ejaculated at the same time.
No. It is not supposed to be a competition to do it together. The thing is (and I'm guilty of that sin) as writers we try to make it a "together" experience to give certain equality to the situation.I think if one comes and the other don't, you're kind of neglecting your partner. In my case one usually triggers the climax of the other.
Now synchronized coming , that's a different sport.

Nah. Although I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a lot of
synchronized coming
in those sleeping quarters.

gay for you stories are kind of meh...and I don't even have words for most of the m/m fanfiction out there
Lori S. wrote: "I highly recommend Roger and Gabbo's books, Absinthe."Thanks, Lori, and Roger's are even better if you have the green fairy around you, Absinthe! hahahaha Drink and enjoy!
Hey, thanks all! I'll check it out, though I still have to finish reading all of Eric's stories...@Gabbo green fairy? you making fun of my name :P

Not at all, I'm a big fan of the green fairy, we Lucid all the time!

Absinthe, Have you not noticed that Gabbo is a green
If you have a yen for reading Panamanian authors who write gay stories in English you cannot do better reading Gabbo who one of sexiest guys on Goodreads.
If you're hankering for a grand adventure and gay love story written in a carefully researched historical novel by a guy who lives in an English medieval town complete with castle, city walls and a big 17th Century church who inexplicably hasn't written a novel set medieval times, you cannot do better than reading Roger Kean who is also one of the sexiest guys on Goodreads.
Of course you need to give both authors a try or else face The Spanish Inquisition. (Just when you least expect it.)
of course I'll read both, while I still have the time. Just took on another major: engineering, soooo when I start those classes I won't have a whole lot of time for reading
It seems almost all M/M Romance characters yell or scream their partner's name when they ejaculate. Hasn't happened with me and my partners. Perhaps we are not doing it right. Please ladies, as authors you are considered experts and I feel I'm inferior because I don't scream my partner's name. I do not have synchronized ejaculations either so I ought to just give up because I'm never going to get this sex thing right. Also ladies you seem to worry a lot in your books about guys quickly disposing of condoms tied off neatly and placed in the trash. I'm kind of a slob and since the sheets are wet with come anyway, what's the big deal in getting up and running to the bathroom to dispose of the condom in a tidy manner?
I feel like such a failure.
Ah, but it's the same with m/f. The more they scream the better the sex must be.However, I personally noticed, in some movies, that when MC is having sex with some casual partner they are loud but when it's with this one and only, perfect-for-him/her it's not like that. It's rather quiet and seems more intimate thanks to that. Or at least that's how I interpret it ;)
But sometimes it IS simply ridiculous. There were times when I wanted to say "louder please! for all neighborhood to hear!"
Well, I don't have sex like that or write it like that either hahahhaa.First, I rarely do condom scenes (that's why I rather write historicals or sci-fi) because to me is obscenely illogical to have sex on paper with condoms, what are these fictional people going to catch?
Second, in real life after a shattering orgasm, who's going to run to get rid of a condom when it could easily stay where it is until one feels like moving... and I don't remember when was the last time I screamed hubby's name while coming. It would seem to him that I'm trying to hard to stay focus hahahahahahaha. I call him by his nickname when we are not doing it so, I don't see the need for a confirmation of the person with me during climax hahahahaha
While in historicals and sci-fi it can be rather understandable, I don't like it when condoms are omitted in contemporary stories. Especially with one-nighters - it's like asking for trouble, imo, and I find it hard to like careless characters that do it. And I know they are fictional characters but it still bugs me. Funny thing (at least it was for me afterwards):
I remember when I was reading Thornton's Boystown I had some problems with focusing on the story because the main character had plenty casual sex partners and never used condoms. I was reacting to it like those crazy people who go to the cinema to watch a horror movie and then they scream 'don't go there! he'll kill you' but I was more like 'don't do that! not with him too! use condoms! it's not healthy! You'll get sick! AIDS, dammit! Oh, no, the 80s, they don't know about AIDS. Oh nononono...' - well, this actually quite well summarizes my feelings for like half of the book.
lol, well I've heard that there are some who are still very energetic after sex but I haven't met such individuals myself. Maybe they're like ufo ... O.o'

I hate that I never know which M/M stories to read since I am such a picky reader! I like books that don't have a ton of sex... even a book with no sex would be just fine. But I want my characters to be realistic, too, not so feminine they are like men saying what women would want them to say. I think a man should relate to another man in a way that is... well, male, if that makes sense. Not arbitrarily romantic or sentimental.
I also am uneasy with most books (including M/M) that are set in an Asian country or have a main character of Asian descent, or feature ninjas, that kind of thing. It almost always seems racist to me. If there was a writer out there who actually wrote it like they knew what they were talking about and didn't just pull from a bucket of stereotypes that would be great.

Just my USD .02.

But I want my characters ..."If M/M romance with military history and North African adventure combined with intelligent writing sounds appealing, I recommend The Empire series by fellow Complaint Department member Roger Kean which contains (in order): A Life Apart, Gregory's Story and Harry's Great Trek. See my review of A Life Apart at:

Roger is also the author the magnificent Thunderbolt: Torn Enemy of Rome which is set in the 2nd Punic War starring a fiction young cousin of Hannibal with very manly adventures and loves. You know it's got a HEA because the hero is telling his story looking back from a very advanced age. I recommend Complaint Department hottie Boyd Walker's review:

If you're like me and enjoy some YA books I most highly recommend Fearless by Chris O'Guinn. It's a very different M/M romance especially since a large portion of the book deals with the MC's friendship with a straight guy but don't worry there is a gay boyfriend too. As great as I think this story is I always warn that it is a difficult one. As wrote in my GR's review, "Chris O'Guinn's Fearless lit up my heart, ripped it apart and healed it with love."
I don't know if anybody's said this, but when the only thing M/M romance is in the story is SEXSEXSEXSEXSEX. xP It's good from time to time, but so much forever? Nooooo.
Max wrote: "I don't know if anybody's said this, but when the only thing M/M romance is in the story is SEXSEXSEXSEXSEX. xP It's good from time to time, but so much forever? I mean, it's okay sometimes (I freaking love M/M explicit scenes like any gay reader would XD) and it's just annoying sometimes when it's just about that.
Max wrote: "I don't know if anybody's said this, but when the only thing M/M romance is in the story is SEXSEXSEXSEXSEX. xP It's good from time to time, but so much forever? Nooooo."Totally agree. I've finished Try, which was rec to me as a great book, some time ago and damn it was sooo boring. It has almost no plot just jumping from one sex scene to another. I fell asleep twice while reading it.

'Chicks with dicks' should be left to women with toys. We know how to do it right.
