I donno if this has been said already, but I really hate it when some authors mess up the names which then messes up the flow of the story and makes me uber confused about who says/does what.

Or is it the all-too common case of too many pronouns—he, his, him?

@Roger...for me it's getting the names wrong like John said to John. Is John talking to himself? Or like in one paragraph the guys name is Sam and in the next it's Bill but it's supposed to be Sam throws me right off. LOL
Yes exactly what Monika said! Actually getting the name wrong!Say there are two MCs, John and David. David is talking to his mom alone and then suddenly it says "John looked up at his mom"
Totally confuses me!
Haha you said it better Jane I was trying to figure out how to explain......my excuse, it's 3:25 am and I should be sleeping. :-P
I find it really confusing when an author refuses to use conversation tags so that I lose track of who's speaking and it doesn't matter what genre either. If I have to track back up the page to figure who started first, that's a waste of my time and energy. Getting names wrong, within the same sentence even, is also very annoying and a sign of poor editing (or no editing for some of the self-published stuff).
I actually saw "man pussy" in a book I recently tried to read. I just couldn't finish it. I didn't even make it past the first chapter.
Roger wrote: "… >very quietly< is "boy pussy" okay?..."Only if you are British and talking about a male kitten.
Preston wrote: "Roger wrote: "… >very quietlyOnly if you are British and talking about a male kitten."
Good one Preston, wish I thought of that! Lol
:::sigh::: It's obvious when you know! I'm sure when I was little and I asked my mom if I could have a boy pussy, I'm sure she didn't think I was requesting a sex change op, that I meant anything other than a kitten tomcat. Did she?
LOL I was going to contribute to this discussion, but where does one go after "man pussy"....Well, to get a shower maybe. :D
I really hate when there is sucking and licking of Adam's apples. No idea why, but it creeps me out. I also hate the whole "Tom's cock was maybe a bit shorter than Dave's , but more substantial".
I'm all for fairness, but can't they just both be huge?

I Agree. Let every cock be huge and sucking adam's apples should be banned. We have better places to suck. Ear lobes and nipples for example.

Therese wrote: "Fore...finger? Fingers can be sexy...*innocent look*."Therese you look too innocent to being sexing up fingers.

Once upon a time my literary world was filled with sweet, pretty and pure virgins (much like myself) seduced by handsome dukes.
Then I entered the realm of M/M romance. Spankings, expanding dildos, CBT, Ogre-cocks, tentacle-sex, what have ye not (although, for the record, this is not an official complaint!)
Therese wrote: "…Spankings, expanding dildos, CBT, Ogre-cocks, tentacle-sex, what have ye not…"Roger, why haven't you put any of this M/M Romance stuff in your Gay Romance Fiction books or did you put it all in your The Complete Chronicle Of The Emperors Of Rome?
I did up the ante on the paperback reprint regarding Trajan's boy preference (actually young military types, he wasn't like Hadrian who preferred his lads much younger). The original hardback edition didn't mention anything about Trajan's sexual peccadillos.Gosh, that was a serious reply!
Roger wrote: "No, no, no. Not that bad!"Oh come on, don't knock it till you try it....:-P. You might have an epiphany after all these years of reading plain gay fiction;-).
Roger wrote: "Plain
gay fiction?"
I've never come across Plain Gay Fiction. Is that a new genre or something? >curious<
