Donna Carbone | 4 comments I'm honored to announce that my first crime novel, Through Thick and Thin, has been chosen by the Palm Beach County Library System to be a part of their Local Author Collection.

I am also thrilled that the owners of Harbourside Place, the beautiful dining/shopping/entertainment venue in Jupiter, Florida has offered to host a book signing for me at Another Broken Egg Cafe on April 14th at 3 pm. This is a first for Harbourside and it seems they are as excited as I am. Another Broken Egg Cafe will be serving free beignets and coffee to all who attend.

Through Thick and Thin features two female PBC Sheriff's Office homicide detectives. Those attending the signing will get to meet the real life Cat Leigh and Marci Welles on whom my characters are based.

I'm bringing three other PBC authors with me because it's always more fun sharing the spotlight with people you like and admire. Please join me, Frank Eberling, Takis Pepe and Alan Tonks for an afternoon of beignets, coffee and conversation.

Gary Lloyd | 5 comments Hello,

My name is Gary Lloyd, and I'm the author of "Trussville, Alabama: A Brief History" and "Deep Green." Both are available here on Amazon.com:http://www.amazon.com/Gary-Lloyd/e/B0...

"Deep Green" is something I'm really proud of. It's a fictional story of a teenager named Ray, who begins heading down a destructive path. He begins hanging out with the wrong crowd. He lets a stereotype control his life. He shoplifts, and just as he begins to feel invincible, he's arrested. A church basketball team intervenes at a crucial moment in his life. Will it be enough to turn Ray around?

Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,

Gary Lloyd

Nicola Bagalà | 4 comments Hello,

I'm Nicola Bagalà, and I have recently self-published The Fall of the Gods, the first instalment in my science fiction series The Elynx Saga.

I think of it as a bit of an unconventional science fiction series. It starts in 2008, in London, and it incorporates some superhero themes. The main characters of my series are primarily women, and they're no damsels in distress, really. This is the blurb of The Fall of the Gods:

Yuki Kashizawa yearns to leave her parents’ nest to pursue a PhD abroad. Her dreams become reality when a stroke of luck brings her to live in a majestic London skyscraper.

Ayleen Marker is a woman with an ordinary present and a mysterious, forgotten past. Since her nearly fatal accident, she has been able to glimpse that lost reality only through haunting dreams.

Rupert Howards is an extravagant young lad with a false identity and a crime to solve. His only help is Yuki Kashizawa. His only suspect is Ayleen Marker.

You can find the book on Amazon for your Kindle reader, of course, but also on a number of other retailers in EPUB format. You can find a complete list on my website.
Would you like to read the first eight chapters for free? You can :) You can find them in PDF format here.

Naturally, you can find both the book and my author page here on Goodreads:
The Fall of the Gods
Nicola Bagalà

If you have any comments, questions, or feedback, please do get in touch!

Thanks,
Nicola

Ben Dedrick (benjamindedrick) | 4 comments Thank you for starting this group! I will go through all of the old messages and check out all of your work. As for me, my first novel, A Love Predestined, is a story of love, loss, and hope...with a spiritual twist. It is available from Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Love-Predestine...

Not to worry, it is not a romance, per se...And I am currently working on book #2, which is a mystery-thriller that uses one of the minor characters from A Love Predestined...but he is more like Robert B Parker's Spenser.

What successful marketing tools have you all used for your self-pub books?

Sean Hartlieb | 2 comments Hello Everyone,

My name is Sean Hartlieb, and I have recently self-published on Amazon.com a 632 page book analyzing the films of director Mamoru Oshii. The book covers all of his work up to Garm Wars: The Last Druid. It provides an extensive analysis of his live action films, such as The Red Spectacles and Talking Head, for which there is very little written about them. Furthermore, it includes over a hundred page analysis of his sequel to Ghost in the Shell, Innocence, discussing interpretations that have not been considered.

If you like anime, or are interested in cinema in general, I strongly recommend checking out Mamoru Oshii's films.

The link to the book can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Humanity-Anime-...

Best Regards,

Sean Hartlieb

Thurston Bassett | 6 comments Hi!
It has been a little while since I posted about my book on here, but I'm due to do it again.
Please check out my first novel The League on amazon. It is a contemporary fantasy with set in Melbourne, Australia. This story follows Athan Harper, who is a Post-Human, who has given up on chasing heroic aspirations. The League was disbanded a few years ago, but rising dangers and a mysterious evil plot may force Athan to reconsider his retirement from the hero business.

This book is the first of a trilogy and one of about six books I have written. I love writing and I have plans for many more stories that tie in with Athan's universe.
So please check it out if you can and leave me a review if possible.

Javier Ideami (ideami) | 1 comments Hi friends,

Above all I´m excited to get in touch with other writers and readers and this wonderful community.

I just published The Torch Principle, a book + online platform (with videos, tools and graphics) about creative thinking. It is useful for:

- Creativity: People that want to empower their "creative muscles" in general.

- Brainstorming: People interested in new brainstorming techniques that make use of all our senses and potential (multisensory)

- Solving challenges: People who face complex challenges and want to use creative divergence to look for innovative, unusual, original, different and fresh solutions.

- Health: People interested in how creative thinking can benefit health and well-being (in addition to career).

- Balance: People interested in achieving a better balance between their analytical and creative muscles (convergence vs divergence, different strategies for dealing with information and challenges).

- Innovation: People who are working on an innovative business idea that can benefit from creative divergence.
Etc, etc and similar cases.

These points and others fit with: entrepreneurs, business people, educators and teachers, students, artists, engineers and other segments of the general population that can benefit from the book in different ways.

Available on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Torch-Principle...

And the web:

looking forward to connecting with you all,
best ;)

Sindhura (chamalasindhura) Hello,

I am a 25-year-old newbie writer from India. My first book 'The Devil and the Deadly Peace' was released last month. I am posting here in the hope of getting some honest reviews. Please have a look at my profile where I have answered some questions and also have posted links to my website and my blog on "medium" where I write about my writing and publishing experience. Below is the blurb for my book.
"The two great nations of Khaga are on the verge of a bloody war. The survival of Jalika, a neutral kingdom in trade with both, is in jeopardy.

After calling the Devil to his kingdom, the king of Jalika has passed away in the dead of the night. His death, a mere week before the Peace Events when officials from the two nations were to come together to sign a treaty that will exempt Jalika from the war, has set many wheels in motion.

As Jalika prepares for the Peace Events under the new leadership of the prince and his wife, all forces converge under the Devil’s watchful eyes. Will the seventh day rise on Jalika bearing peace or death?"

Hey guys, I just released Depraved on the Amazon Kindle store for 2.99. From April 11th until April 15th the book will be available for free. I'm trying to promote it as best I can. If you'd like a free read that you might enjoy enough to share or review, check it out.
Depraved: http://www.amazon.com/Depraved-Michae...

When 15-year-old Edward ends up in bed with the schools most notorious girl, Jessica Harwell, he falls fast into her drug induced world. This wild beauty shows him the uninhabited pleasures life has to offer. Sex, drugs, murder—and that’s only the first night. Unbeknownst to him, Sebastian Hartley has made it his personal mission to destroy Edward for a crime his uncle committed years ago. The great and vicious Sebastian blames Edward for something he never knew. Moving through the school halls as the rich, drug-peddling, hedonist, Sebastian has a way of enthralling all those around him. In doing so he enlisted Jessica in his plot to ruin Edward.
In the beginning Jessica’s love for money, drugs, and social status motivated her until Edward showed her genuine kindness, something this self-loathing narcissist is unaccustomed to. Unfortunately, Sebastian has more than dark charisma to keep Jessica in line. When he threatens to expose her lies, and Jessica’s worst secret involving a death, she finds herself forced to break Edward at any cost.
Edward must free himself from the desire and vice Jessica provides in time to figure out the dreadful plot Sebastian has planned. If he doesn’t, he will fall into an abyss of sex, drugs, and death. In the process of watching their own lives fall to pieces around them, nobody seems aware of a star-crazed psychopath roaming the streets of their quiet little town. Keeping to the sidelines, Lars watches with a plan that may land everyone in an early grave.

Denis Gorce-Bourge | 6 comments Our book is called:
"DARE TO RISE - Reshaping Humanity by Reshaping Yourself"

You can already find 2 versions: Paperback and Kindle.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denis-Gorce-B...

Maria Teresa De Donato, Ph.D. and I (Denis Gorce-Bourge) embarked a 4 year journey to write this book and we never met in person to this day. From an Italian living in the US and a French living in the UK, you will read a story which challenges your certitudes about your life.

Dare to Rise is written for the many people who feel a calling for more “awareness in living”, who are looking to grow more consciously and find clear understanding of the mechanics of responsibility in action.
Unconditional Love grows when you learn to Love yourself more and take full responsibility for your circumstances as co-creator of your world.
If you want to find more resources within yourself instead of following the pressure to always look outside for answers, this book is for you. Through a deep exploration of various aspects of life (Love, relationships, sex, health and work) you are invited to embark a profound journey about YOU!

Dare to Rise is a practical book which will help you go beyond your fears and trust your guts and your Heart so that you can change what you thought was not possible, go beyond your limiting beliefs and to open a new field of possibilities.

Denis Gorce-Bourge | 6 comments Dare to Rise: Uplifting Book Calls Humanity to Action, Urging Readers to Thrive through Consciousness & Awareness

From Dr. Maria Teresa De Donato and Denis Gorce-Bourge, ‘Dare To Rise: Reshaping Humanity By Reshaping Yourself’ serves as a clarion call to people everywhere, empowering them to harness their internal power and embrace it for a better world. Exploring everything from love and relationships to sex, health and work, the authors unfold their own wisdom so readers can shred their limiting beliefs and move into a new existence blessed by powerful new potential and opportunity.

Contact: Denis Gorce-Bourge Email: denis@gblifecoaching.com Telephone: +442087789894

United Kingdom – Dr. Maria Teresa De Donato and Denis Gorce-Bourge had one goal in writing their new book – to help readers move beyond the stagnant promise of saying “I am going to change”, and give them the inspiration, tools and empowerment they need to take tangible action for a better life and a better world. It’s all about helping these individuals shake up and rid themselves of old limiting convictions, and re-equipping them with the knowledge that awakening their consciousness won’t only afford them the passions and prosperity they’ve always dreamed of, but will also strengthen humanity as a whole.
This life-changing blueprint comes in the form of a compelling new book titled ‘Dare To Rise: Reshaping Humanity By Reshaping Yourself’.

Synopsis:
The recent changes occurring in the world for many of us resemble a nightmare which we seem not to be able to wake up from. Science has progressed hugely, in Quantum Physics, Astrophysics, Genetics, Neuroscience, showing us that the World is not what we thought it was. Developing Consciousness and Presence in life can change our entire perception, demonstrate how we can take full responsibility, and contribute to a better world altogether. Through a deep exploration of Love, relationships, sex, health and work, you are invited to embark on an incredible journey about YOU! The more you realize how much power you have on your own life the more the World becomes friendly and inviting. Becoming happier is the greatest contribution to a better future for Humanity. DARE TO RISE is intended as a self-development inspirational and motivational book.
“Denis and I were acutely aware that millions, if not billions of people are suffering in their quest for a better life and a better world due to dangerous self-limiting beliefs,” explains Dr. De Donato, a renowned, certified and registered Traditional Naturopath, Classical Homeopath, Nutritional Consultant, Master Herbalist and Life Strategist. “We knew that if we could help them foster empathy, understanding and the unconditional love that results, miracles could very well occur. It’s actually amazing how quickly positive effects can happen with a few simple shifts in mind-set.”
Continuing, “People need to stop complaining, discover their true aspirations and pursue these instead of only noticing what’s wrong with the world. It’s much easier said than done, but our book shows people how to make this shift in a way that is permanent. At the end of the day it comes down to three fundamental principles – self-responsibility, consciousness and love. With these, we can change the world.”

Rob Falconer | 1 comments Hi!

I’m Rob.

Is this group interested in detective short story fiction?

I have now written two books, both available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats.

They are “The Return of Inspector Pirat: His First Book” and its sequel “Pirat’s Early Cases.”

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Return-Inspe...

“The Return of Inspector Pirat : His First Book” is a series of apparently-unrelated detective short stories, but with a link that may not become apparent until the final chapter. A college professor with a passion for detective fiction annually invites those of his students who are similarly-inclined along to his house for an evening of good food, well-chosen wine, and, hopefully, inspired story-telling. Each of twenty students reads out his or her story to the others, the stories being interspersed with moments of inebriation, passion and fleas …

Basically, I was unable to find many modern books of detective short stories, and so decided to write some of my own. Insomnia also contributed, as I often find it difficult to sleep, and so think up puzzles to pass the time.

The sequel is in the same vein.

Thanks,

Rob Falconer

Robert Pitchman | 3 comments The Boy From Worcester by Bob Pitchman is a must-read portrait of late 1950s-late 1960s East Coast America. But that label alone would be a great disservice to all the many other things it is: a terrific illustration of the importance of families; a deft painting of friendship; a story of loss, of betrayal, of youth, and of dreams; and love, the one thing that binds this gallery of human interconnectedness together as we follow Bob's early experiences in Worcester Massachusetts, as he learned to make a street gang family amongst friends, after having been orphaned at an early age.

Mr. Pitchman's descriptive -imagery is florid, painting indelible images in your mind as you follow his life along at a brisk-pace. Never once does his collection of chronological stories waver too long, and the overarching themes of redemption in the promise of love and acceptance weave a strong through line that keeps you turning the pages. The Boy From Worcester's plotting conjures to mind the best of a gripping dramatic movie, but one is reminded that it's all based in truth; Hollywood moguls would be nuts to ignore a well-adapted screenplay from this novel.

Truly there are many life lessons to be learned amidst the tales here; like the best stories, conflict is central to each unique chapter, as well as to the overall spine. But no matter the flashpoints or the losses Bob and his gang (or more appropriately, "Family") suffer, there are always values learned along the way that lead the reader to an even deeper understanding of our human nature. One is well-advised to listen to one who's experienced so much in life, so early on; The Boy From Worcester is indeed a treasure-trove of this early life discovery If we can get the funding,

Marsh Myers (marshmyers) | 6 comments Vulture City

Back in 2009, my son Myles and I explored what is probably the best preserved ghost town in Arizona — Vulture City outside of Wickenburg. That experience inspired some of the plot for my second novel, The Men in the Trees. It took me a few years, and a lot of requests from readers, but I finally got around to creating a blog and a video about that trip. Marsh Myers Laughing Boy Blog: Gold's Last Glimmer

Robin Bhan (robin_bhan) | 1 comments Hi,

I self-published my short story on Amazon.

Raj, Aniket, and Neha are the principal characters.

Raj is kind of busy planning for the big, special day ahead of him. Aniket finds himself trapped in the chores of his life. Neha is a sweet girl who enjoys her life to the maximum.

All the three were quite busy in the chores of the society. They never knew that time would change the course of their lives, on the same day at the very same time i.e. 7:33 p.m.

What happened that day that changed their lives?

Dorothy (doromass) | 1 comments Hi, my first novel Red God Black God is contemporary real life drama, with a target audience of upper Middle Grade. However, it’s creating a lot of interest among adults too.

The novel explores family relationships and the transition into early teens through the eyes of a young Maasai girl, Neema, whose tribe is undergoing a parallel transition - attempting to uphold traditional values against the encroachment of modern-day advancement. The warring red and black gods of Neema’s favourite legend represent her own individual struggle to make sense of what’s going on around her and gain a much-desired education.

Here's the blurb:

Becoming a teenager is always full of challenges! Neema, however, seems to have more than her fair share. Neema wants to go to secondary school like her brother, but her father has more traditional plans for her future. Her mother’s mysterious illness and her Aunt’s strange message intensify Neema’s distress. Perhaps her family has indeed been cursed by the vengeful Red God.

If she stands against long-standing Maasai tradition, Neema risks the wrath of her father and community. Her quest for education is a path of deception, nightmares and even abduction! With determination and the kindly Black God on her side, will Neema finally find a way to continue her education and break the family curse?

Robert Pitchman | 3 comments I just finished the sequel to The Boy from Worcester. It's called The Islanders. Now all terry my co-writer has to do is prof read it then I will get it published. We are trying to get the two of the books into a movie. or at least the first one I know it's hard to pitch someone an idea. But seeing the first book is a true story, I thought it could work. When was the last time you saw a movie set in the 50's and 60's. without all the fuckin fluff. F/X can be good but sometimes People would just like to sit down and watch a movie like Rebel Without A cause. People that read The Boy From Worcester say to me. Will this be a movie? It's like Damon Blalack said Hollywood moguls would be nuts to ignore a well-adapted screenplay from this novel. He should know, he wrote the screenplay.

Blurb: Military personnel undergo a rigorous set of training experiences that transforms them and forever sets them apart from thier former civilian selves. If we are to understand the mental injuries experienced by veterans and first reponders we must delve into the context of their operational duties and relationships which far exceed our focus on medical symptoms.

Natasha Petersen | 1 comments Hi my name is Natasha (my author name is N. Davis) I'm new to this group and thought I would share my new release The Heldarade Chronicles: Dragons Choice

Alexis watched the dragon swoop down into a clearing, in the wooded part of Ebony Garden. Maybe I could get a closer look, she thought heading towards the trees that surrounded the village…

Peace has reigned over Heldarade for nearly a thousand years. The only battles that are fought are between lords over petty things, which has nothing to do with the dragon riders who sit up in their Keeps neglecting their sworn duty. Everything they know is about to change.
The queen of Northbria Keep has died before the new one has a chance to hatch, a bad omen to everyone but the greedy lords who all want their daughters to be chosen as her rider. But as the new queen hatches she has eyes for only one person, someone who should never have even been on the hatching grounds.
The law of the first riders is very clear, every Keep must have a queen and every dragon rider must be of noble blood. A war is coming and the Age of Dragons is about to be challenged as the new queen goes against human law and shows the other dragons that it is their choice who they want as their riders.

Alexander Engel-Hodgkinson (nexus_engel) | 3 comments So I recently published a 300+ page cyberpunk thriller called I Keep My True Love in the Basement/REMIX that I was hoping to get some early reviews for. It's set for release on the 20th (I certainly don't expect anyone to read it that fast, LOL).

Anyway, here's the synopsis:

In the year 2068 A.D., the world has united under the fist of Altieria Corporation's wise and powerful CEO. Not without its complications...

The wife of a robotics engineer turns up dead in a cheap motel, and all evidence points to a telekinetic suspect that doesn't exist in the public eye--or even the eyes of the man who sees everything.

Two veteran detectives, a rebel faction, and an aggressive reporter approach the case from their own perspectives and rapidly descend into a web of lies, secrets, illegal operations, and violence. In their struggle for survival, they begin to suspect that the Altieria Corporation may somehow be involved. And if it is, how can they hope to learn the truth and expose it to a world that the Company now controls?

I Keep My True Love in the Basement/REMIX by Alexander Engel-Hodgkinson

I feel the need to warn you: this novel is disorienting, confusing, violent, and disturbing, and isn't recommended for the faint of heart. If that sounds like it's right up your alley, I would love to hear from you! I can provide a free copy in exchange for a review--I am also more than willing to swap reviews if you have something you want more reviews for. :)

Email me at ultimatenexus@hotmail.com or drop me a PM here on Goodreads. I can send PDFs.

Thanks!
