I'm an all-purpose geek with a long-standing passion for writing. I was born and raised in Italy, but my inborn spirit of adventure brought me to Finland in 2007, where I currently live with my girlfriend (a video game programmer way nerdier than I). I have a MSc in mathematics, and I also studied physics and computer science at the University of Helsinki.

When I’m not too busy working or writing, I like acting, drawing portraits, and (pretending I know something about) playing piano.

My first book—The Fall of the Gods—was the kick-starter of my sci-fi series, The Elynx Saga. You can find out more about the series on http://www.elynxsaga.com.

There sure were times when I just didn't know what to write, but the problem was caused by external factors rather than lack of inspiration (read: too many other things to worry about). It happened mostly when writing was just a hobby for me and I had other, so-called real-life issues to worry about—for example, my studies.

Anyway, when inspiration is lacking, I'd say there's no use pushing oneself to write. You'd just grow more frustrated, get a horrible headache, and accomplish nothing. Rather, take a break and don't think about your story to finish. You can try and do something you like and inspires you, but don't do it thinking you're doing it to get your muse back; do it for its own sake.(less)

In my case—writing fiction—I can set up the rules of my own literary world and make it be and do pretty much whatever I want (as long as the end result is consistent with the rules I've established. Anyway different types of fiction grant you different degrees of freedom in this respect).

Another very good thing about writing is the sense of accomplishment you get from going through the entire process. It is bit like coding. I like coding very much as a hobby, and there's a huge satisfaction in building a number of tidy, well-designed classes and routines, refine and perfect them and have them work efficiently together. The same things goes for the different parts of a book (or the different books in a series): they have to be tidy and well-designed, or the book (or series) will not work. And the process of refining these parts is very rewarding.

Curtain

I’m writing this very short note just to say that this website and its Facebook page will be deleted in a week or so. Even though I wished l4t a different destiny, I must come to terms with the fact it is just a relic from the time when I thought I would be a full-time writer, and by heavens, that was long ago and I certainly don’t want that for myself.

I did have a long list of interesting topics
