Virginia Slachman (goodreadscomvirginiaslachman) | 2 comments I''ve recently gotten some nice reviews on Amazon for my literary mystery The Lost Ode, so I'm venturing out to mention it here--it's set on a Thoroughbred breeding farm in KY (I lived on one for a while doing research for the book, so all the veterinary, breeding, racing, and literary material is accurate). Right now my second murder mystery is being considered by three publishers, so I do hope you all will check out The Lost Ode. I'm hoping to increase readership and continue with the series!

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 2 comments Looking for reviews/reads of both of these novels:

The Dressmaker's Secret
London, England, 1870

It comes to the attention of curious eight-year-old Alice Chattoway that her father is seemingly nonexistent. After realizing that his absence is making her mother unhappy, Alice becomes determined to find him and pull her family together. But Miss Chattoway’s answers to her daughter’s questions are vague at best and Alice begins to wonder if she will ever discover her mother’s secret.

It’s the parents’ story from the child’s perspective. It’s the “epilogue” of a drama, the “sadly-ever-after,” and how it got better. ~BayRay, Goodreads User

The Lady of the Vineyard
Judy has lived with her egocentric mother since her parents divorced when she was a baby. When her father, Troy Kee, shows up at her sixth birthday party and whisks her away to his vineyard in France, Judy is more than happy to go with him. But Adele, Judy's mother, isn't quite ready to give up her daughter. Can Judy forgive Adele? More importantly, can Troy?

A sweet novella set in Europe, the year of 1938, this sweet story is sure to delight loves of light-hearted historical/literary fiction.

Contact me at kellynroth@gmail.com if you're interested in receiving an ebook copy of either/both in exchange for an honest review.

Roger Keays (rogerkeays) | 1 comments Hi all, 100% Love Guaranteed is the story of my misadventures and incarceration in Ecuador. It's a love story, an adventure story, and a story about personal growth.

I am currently running a free giveway on Amazon. It lasts until Friday, so you can grab the book this week, and start reading it on the weekend. Get it from your regional Amazon store:

100% Love Guaranteed: Back Cover
--------------------------------

“A spellbinding true story of love, passion and adventure. One can’t help but be swept away by 100% Love Guaranteed.” —Dr Tammie Matson, author of Elephant Dance.

True love was something Roger had given up on by the time he left Australia to see the world. Girlfriends, he'd decided, simply weren't worth the effort. But all that was about to change when he arrived in Ecuador two years later and struck up a conversation with a Latina girl selling hand-made jewellery in the street.

Taty, for her part, never had a thing for gringos, and nor did she imagine that a chance encounter could be the start of a roller-coaster relationship—one that would take her far out of her comfort zone, from Montañita to Quito to the Galapagos Islands, and in search of help when Roger is arrested and thrown into prison.

100% Love Guaranteed is a book for anyone who knows the lengths we will go to for the people we love. Taty and Roger may have a rough ride, but one thing is for certain—they are in love, and true love conquers all... or does it? Read their story and find out for yourself.

message 466: by Robert (new)

Robert Pitchman | 3 comments The Boy From Worcester by Bob Pitchman is a must-read portrait of late 1950s-late 1960s East Coast America. But that label alone would be a great disservice to all the many other things it is: a terrific illustration of the importance of families; a deft painting of friendship; a story of loss, of betrayal, of youth, and of dreams; and love, the one thing that binds this gallery of human interconnectedness together as we follow Bob's early experiences in Worcester Massachusetts, as he learned to make a street gang family amongst friends, after having been orphaned at an early age.

Mr. Pitchman's descriptive -imagery is florid, painting indelible images in your mind as you follow his life along at a brisk-pace. Never once does his collection of chronological stories waver too long, and the overarching themes of redemption in the promise of love and acceptance weave a strong through line that keeps you turning the pages. The Boy From Worcester's plotting conjures to mind the best of a gripping dramatic movie, but one is reminded that it's all based in truth; Hollywood moguls would be nuts to ignore a well-adapted screenplay from this novel.

Truly there are many life lessons to be learned amidst the tales here; like the best stories, conflict is central to each unique chapter, as well as to the overall spine. But no matter the flashpoints or the losses Bob and his gang (or more appropriately, "Family") suffer, there are always values learned along the way that lead the reader to an even deeper understanding of our human nature. One is well-advised to listen to one who's experienced so much in life, so early on; The Boy From Worcester is indeed a treasure-trove of this early life discovery

Elizabeth Carrie | 1 comments Hi, everyone! My debut romance novel is going to be released this Friday, March 3rd.
It's a sweet, emotional read about a single father navigating love. It's free in KU and only 0.99 otherwise!

https://www.amazon.com/Long-Sweet-Sum...

The balmy warmth of a summer breeze brings only anguished memories to twenty-eight-year-old Owen Barrett, left reeling and devastated after his wife abruptly abandoned him and their newborn daughter ten years ago.
As months crept by and Owen’s daughter grew in inches of height and tousled hair, Owen grew in stubborn seclusion of his soul.
Dedicated to single fatherhood and viciously afraid of ever trusting another woman with his heart again, Owen believes he’s sworn off relationships for good.
Until the day he meets Molly.
Charming and coy, the amateur baker throws into sweet upheaval all that Owen steadfastly believes to be true about life and love and pleasure – things Owen is no longer sure he deserves.
However, as Owen’s feelings bloom and the bliss of a new relationship takes uncertain roots, so does his overwhelming confusion and guilt.
Can he or his daughter handle a new woman in their lives after the last left them so quickly, or will the carefully crafted walls of Owen’s heart keep true happiness and love at bay?
This long summer will be the one that changes Owen to the core.

Samantha | 1 comments Hi everyone,
My name is Samantha and I’m the author of “Meet the Prophets: A Journey through the Lives and the Visions of the Old Testament Prophets”.
It’s a modern Bible study-book, but true to the Bible (KJV) and completely covers all 16 books of the Prophets, combining knowledge from Revelation and the New Testament with the Prophets' books; all fits together.
This book is for anyone interested in (Christian) prophecy or seeking help to understand the Bible better (Bible-study). But what's different about "Meet the Prophets - A journey through..." compared to other Bible-studies is that it is written as a novel and easy to understand.

Matt Szychowski | 4 comments Hello everyone! Just joined goodreads yesterday.

I had just self-published my first children's book "The Flaming Lemming".

“The Flaming Lemming” is a story that teaches an important lesson in naivety, demonstrating what can happen when one is too trusting without considering all of the circumstances. The main character, a lemming who can shoot fire from his hands, becomes convinced by the wily town troublemakers to use this power that he possesses for ill intent. In the end he learns about discernment in placing trust in others and the harm in doing so recklessly.

Michael A. (michaelponzio) | 6 comments March 15 is the Ides of March. With the generous help of friends and family, today I published my first novel, Pontius Aquila: Eagle of the Republic. It is about Lucius Pontius Aquila, a citizen of ancient Rome. Aquila was a staunch supporter of the Roman Republic and considered Julius Caesar’s dictatorship a threat to the people’s freedom. Historians recorded that he refused to stand with the other officials as Caesar’s chariot passed by during a military parade. He later joined in the assassination of Caesar on the Ides of March, 44 B.C.

The novel includes martial arts, capable women, and romance. For more information go to my author’s website: History & Historical Fiction: Pontius, Ponzio, Pons, and Ponce.

Isla Wright | 1 comments Hi everyone,

I am new to Goodreads and to this group and I am promoting my book Bun in the Oven, a candid, no holds barred realistic fiction that uses comedy and satire to explore the pregnancy experience. Pregnancy can be an empowering experience, but it can also be challenging.

The book, in essence a pregnant woman's diary, captures some of the emotions, thoughts and expressions of a pregnant woman as she adjusts to the changes in her life and body during the 40 week period leading up to delivery.

The book, of short story length, is deliberately written in simple language as I hope to connect with readers and non-readers alike. It is available FREE on Amazon for the rest of the day- 2017 March 31 and I am sharing with you in the hope that you can read and honestly review as I continue in my journey to develop as a writer.

Tarra Hugh (tarra_hugh) | 2 comments Concordia, the land in Northern England where the sky is always clear and sunny, and the cold winds coming from high in the mountains bring the frozen blasts of a world which is about to wake up from its drowsiness under the empire of bloody intrigues and a searing passion.

The life of Sienna Hanson, the beautiful daughter of the Earl of Concordia takes an unexpected twist when, being the Earl's only heir, she's forced to marry an unknown man, obeying a tradition older than she can imagine. But Sienna is not the woman to accept what is imposed to her, and her desperate search for freedom will trigger a succession of events that will make her life and everything she knows crumble. Except from the passion for a man who could help her achieve the one thing she's ready to sacrifice everything for or condemn her forever.

Frank Darreth has spent the past years of his life helping those in need, hoping this way he can atone his sins, the only shadows of the past he believed to be left behind, but that Sienna's blue eyes will bring back with an overwhelming force. For the beautiful young woman is not nearly as cold as the land where she was born, and the passion she stirs in him will seize them both, bringing out the worse and the best in each one of them.

Sienna lost her freedom. Frank lost himself. But before they can find in each other what they are looking for, they must first confront an enemy stronger than their stubbornness could ever be.

Frank (wwwgoodreadscomfrank) | 7 comments Kleptomaniac Who's Really Robbing God Anyway? by Frank Chase Jr

Monetary tithing has been taught as an undisputed fact in churches for centuries. Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway challenges that assumption and puts modern tithe teachings to the microscope of scripture. This book examines the word tithe from the original Hebrew language and presents the authentic meaning of the the orthodox term based on the land, language and literature of the Hebrew people.
For church-goers who are tired of being told they rob God of tithes and offerings every Saturday and Sunday, and that God requires a tenth of their income until death, this new book opens the biblical scroll and shines a light on the truth of Scripture by debunking centuries-old tithe doctrines, which say a tithe is ten percent of a person's income. The author also explains why many church-goers are not the ones who really rob God. But exposes who the real God robbers are in this shocking tithe manifesto.

https://www.amazon.com/Kleptomaniac-W...

message 482: by Frank (new)

Frank (wwwgoodreadscomfrank) | 7 comments Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway?

The message of the book is that ten percent of a person's income does not represent a biblical tithe. The biblical tithe has always been food. A monetary tithe of ten percent represents a tax for religious purposes. A true biblical tithe is narrowly limited to food and clean animals from inside the land of Israel. Also, true biblical tithing was never extended to crafts or trades, and since Jesus was never a farmer, nor headsman, he was not required to tithe.
Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway is an educational book that tackles a religious taboo subject such as tithing and presents more information about an under-saturated subject in the book world concerning tithing. The book is a scholastic, theological work and should be read by anyone who has skepticism about the truth and accuracy of the modern monetary tithe system that is not contained on the pages of the Bible.

Join Kindel as he recounts his unwinnable quest to avenge the attack, win back his homeland, and kill Elsthin who he saw take it all away. HEROIN ADDICTION, THE LIFESTYLE, THE RECOVERY
I'm not a celebrity or a model. I'm not rich or famous. I'm a hooker, a hustler and a junkie. It's not like I chose this lifestyle but something inside of me took over my entire being. I wanted to party. I wanted to have fun. I wanted to fit in and most of all I wanted someone to love me. Little did I know, that what I left behind would be the one thing that I longed for the most.
Homeless and struggling on the streets of Los Angeles, I submitted to a lifestyle of addiction and crime. Would I ever find my way out out this self-produced nightmare??? Was I destined to live my life in hell??? Only time would tell.........

It is time to return to the playground, and confront the horror that happened there, so very long ago.

The Legend of the Sky Titans
In post-apocalyptic America, two orphaned children raised as sharecroppers live together in a fragile, farm home. Michael Gilliganson Jr, the son of the world's greatest mercenary, Mopy, acts as the sole guardian of his little sister, Nya, after the death of their parents. But when the NeoMen (humanoid dinosaurs) invaded their small town, they take Nya hostage. Michael, who must now live up to his parent's legacy as the legendary Sky-Titan to save his sister, is gifted with his father's Badge of Alpha, a blue and yellow, badge-like device that gives him the ability to transform into the therianthropic god, Alpha to fight against the emergence of the tyrannical dinosaur dominated empire led by the evil King Mungfalme. He then joins forces with legendary werewolf hunter, Val Helsing (now known as Pappy), Jullian the Iota Eagle, the Vendor, Mr. Dalton, The Duke of Washington, and newcomer Samantha as they fight against the Dinosaurs to save and protect mankind from the brink of annihilation.

Rachael Arsenault I currently have two books in the Duircean Trilogy available as ebooks on Amazon and am working on the second draft of the third one.

Stranger & Stranger
Ainslee Saunders goes through each day fearing the same thing all sixteen-year-olds fear: getting snatched by the fae. When her worst nightmare comes true, Ainslee is forced to live in the forest community of Duircean until she completes the change from human to faerie. Her life is already made stressful by culture shock, prejudiced humans, and jealous changelings, but things only get worse as she slowly discovers that her change is far from normal.

When her world is shook by an unexpected death and she has only herself to blame, Ainslee is forced to question if there's something more sinister about her unique change.

A Blessing & A Curse
Ainslee Saunders thought getting snatched by the fae would be the biggest change in her life, but she was wrong. After finding out she had been possessed and participating in a disastrous exorcism, things are more screwed up than ever. Her friend Derek has fallen into a coma. Her friend April is possessed and locked out of Duircean. And her (sort of?) friend Shawna is keeping her in the dark. To make matters worse, the professors are suspicious of her, her Blessing is on the fritz, and a new classmate has it out for her.

Sick of feeling helpless and clueless, Ainslee decides to take matters into her own hands. But is she doing the right thing by trying to save her friends and right her wrongs? Or is she about to make a mistake that could put all of Duircean at risk?

I also have a Facebook page called Rachael Lynne Artistry where I share updates about my writing and ongoing creative projects.

Velveteen Viper | 2 comments Title: Roamers
Genre: Horror/Science-Fiction/Romance

Synopsis:
When scientists initiate human trials for a drug created to prevent and cure the common cold, nineteen-year-old Scarlett McKenzie's life rapidly crumbles around her. Her mother, Grace, having fallen on hard times financially, is among the first to be injected with the medicine. Hours later, Scarlett is faced with her mother; cold, dead, blind... and hungry.

Scarlett is forced into the new world - a world where the dead rise to feed on the living and the constant fight for life brings out the worst in even the best people - along with her boyfriend, Jimmy and his twelve year old sister, Alice.

Along the way, she will of course meet new people – survivors, just like her – but can anyone really be trusted when the shit hits the fan? Forced to endure the pain of losing people she cares about in the most horrific ways, just how long will it be before she loses her mind, and is there anything or anyone who can keep her from losing who she is?

‘Roamers’ is the first instalment in a series of three books following Scarlett McKenzie in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s a fictional look at how a young woman might learn to adapt in a world where nobody is guaranteed to survive day-to-day.

Roamers is available to buy on all Amazon marketplaces as an eBook (available on Kindle Unlimited) or a paperback, under the pseudonym, ‘Velveteen Viper’. I’ll post the links below.

Please give it a read and, if you enjoy it, could I ask that you leave me a quick review on Amazon?
