Duircean Trilogy #1

Stranger & Stranger

Rate this book
Ainslee Saunders goes through each day fearing the same thing all sixteen-year-olds fear: getting snatched by the fae. When her worst nightmare comes true, Ainslee is forced to live in the forest community of Duircean until she completes the change from human to faerie. Her life is already made stressful by culture shock, prejudiced humans, and jealous changelings, but things only get worse as she slowly discovers that her change is far from normal.

When her world is shook by an unexpected death and she has only herself to blame, Ainslee is forced to question if there's something more sinister about her unique change.

Rachael Arsenault’s Stranger & Stranger is full of adventure and fun. Teenager Ainslee is kidnapped by the fae and brought to the otherworldly land of Duircean. She must navigate this strange world and deal with its often dangerous denizens while she is slowly transformed into a fairy. But the transition isn’t smooth and there’s more going on than meets the eye. The mystery of Stranger & Stranger and the cool other world make this a fun read for any fantasy lover!

This book is a nice twist to the Fae world. Very unique take on it. I liked how it didn’t try to cram in too much, it stuck to a small part. To introduce the world to the reader and to the main character. It didn’t try and overpower you with information and fae elements, it let it breathe. It was very fast paced.

The scene with the best friend I felt was a little lacking. Come on it your best friend even if she being a cow, you would still feel more than that. It just felt like it was brushed over and avoided a bit. Could have used that emotional turmoil to further fuel the need to do what needed to be done.

Interested to see how it plays out, quite a cliffhanger there at the end.

I loved this book! Exciting, fast-paced, and easy to get into, with a fascinating world. Reading it felt like watching a really well-made YA paranormal TV show. I've already downloaded Book 2!
