Do you know anybody that has won any books in the giveaways?

message 555: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments From here? Hmm, not sure per se. I mean I have another friend that says she has won a couple of books through giveaways but not sure if they are GR giveaways or not. Pretty random winners it seems. But I'd really like to see how it pans out for a SK book and actual SK fans entering. As I've entered for a few other UF, advice, and other such genres and no luck. But I hardly win stuff anyway, lol.

I might be able to spot it as this is a first read through for me. But if ya ask me in several months then the deets might get a little fuzzy to me, lol. But I sitll manage to remember most things.

message 571: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) The Guardian was brilliant. Seth is very high up on my favourites list. Hope you like it Dhfan4life.
@Denise. I noticed it too. Can't wait to find out more.

message 572: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments @Denise and Steph. Is that (view spoiler) Just to make sure we are at the same page.

message 573: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) I thought it was you're third answer.. But all of them could be right lol
Denise? What one were you thinking?

message 574: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments The sad thing is that there isn't any development on the Jaden/Jared thing. I guess we just have to wait some more. Damn. As for the rest of the questions from The Guardian we could switch the threads and I will be back in a jiffy to rock your world :)

message 575: by Denise (new)

Denise (justplainme) #3! #3!

message 576: by Denise (last edited Nov 25, 2011 07:00AM) (new)

Denise (justplainme) Although I did think all the tidbits we got were interesting .

message 577: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments Oh, OK cool. (view spoiler)

message 578: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) This might sound silly but who is Verlyn? Can someone remind me?

message 579: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments Not silly at all, Steph I mean the only reason I know who is he is cuz I'm mostly interested in Jaden , from the moment he showed up nothing else matterd anymore lol.Verlyn is one of the primary gods of light when the First War was fought.

message 580: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) oh I remember him now lol. Too many facts bobbing about my poor brain :)

message 581: by Denise (new)

Denise (justplainme) I didn't remember him, where was he first mentioned?

message 582: by Steph (new)

Steph (lovessf) In The Guardian Denise. He was sent by Noir to bring Seth back.

message 583: by Denise (new)

Denise (justplainme) Ok, I thought the way y'all were talking, he had been in another book. I noticed him in Guardian, I thought the similarities between him & Jaden were interesting.

message 584: by Tempi (last edited Nov 26, 2011 09:08AM) (new)

Tempi | 234 comments Yeah it's tough to keep up sometimes. What is interesting is that Azura said that they defanged Jaden, but as I recalled he had fangs in Dream Chaser and flashed them a few times. Must be his punishment for leting go of Simon's soul, those bastards. The other interesting is that Jaden said he had a choise , unlike Seth or Lydia who were born the way they are.
Verlyn was mentioned in (not be name) in Dream Worrior, when they talked about Cam and Rezar, they are sort of a family or a brotherhood + sister :)

message 585: by Denise (new)

Denise (justplainme) I thought the defang & emasculated remark by Azura was a metaphor.

message 586: by Denise (new)

Denise (justplainme) Tempi wrote: " I'm mostly interested in Jaden , from the moment he showed up nothing else matterd anymore"

I agree. Jaden, sigh.......

message 587: by Carol (new)

Carol Keogh (Goodfellow) (carolgoodfellowkeogh) I have just read Retribution, I so enjoyed it. From the different comments I did have a negative vibe on this book but I did not get that form the book. I thought the heroine was sufficiently brave and feminine and Jesse was hilariously stereo-typical of his background. The story was fascinating and gave a marvellous insight to the American Indian beliefs. reallly liked!! Cant wait until Time ~Untime

message 588: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Denise I noticed all the points that Tempi had pointed out there. And have to admit the most striking one for me was the same level of power with Noir bit. Cause that made me think back to the primal source of powers that was talked about in Dream Warrior and how from that the Malachaii and Seraphii were on opposing sides.

message 589: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments Indeed that it is quite striking. But I don't know and I can't figure out where does that leave him. He's not a malachai or a sephirii or maybe as crazy as it sounds he's bouth. If Azura is feeing power from him and Noir feeds from the malachai that puts him somewere around malachai territory. I mean why does she feed from him specifically? Could be cause he's a slave , but that's doubtful cause they have other slaves and she ain't feeding from them so she wouldn't become comatose like Noir did when Adarian left him. He drinks blood and has fangs so that would make him a demon of sorts and bouth the malchai and sephirii are demons. He admited that he's done many selfish deeds and that he has a "monster" in him , kind of like a malachai does. So if he drinks demon blood, has fangs, could kill anything immortal and absorb their power that can only mean he's a malachai. But that could't be possible cause after the war they left only one malachai (Adarian) and one sephirii (Jared) and as it seems Jaden has direct blood connection with Verlyn , who is (or was) the opposite of Noir, Azura and the malachai. I will assume that Verlyn is most likely his father or brother , but they are definitely related since they both have one brown and one green eye.I'm stickin my neck out and say that Verlyn is Jadens father , which would explane what Thorn said about Jaden in Bad Moon Rising :"He has a slave collar and an aura of power that smacks of a godhood he doesn’t have." So if on one side he's a gods progeny then on the other side could he's mother be a malachai or a sephirii. Back then when the war was fought there were many malachai and sephirii bouth women and men. And even if he is half god/half malachai or sephirii how could he escape the deal with all the malachai and sephrii being killed after the war? Maybe it has something to do with why Jared betrayed his brethren. Meybe he did it to save Jaden from the executions.
Wow I didn't expect it to be so long :) Anyways my theory probably will be shattered by the next books , but it's the closest I can get to explaining the whole Jaden deal.

message 590: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments All that could be possible Tempi. But have to keep in mind too that the primal source is like the creative of all beings at the start of time. So although the malachai and seraphii are two of the bigger components. We still aren't fully sure what else the source created and spit out.

As for the Jaden and Verlyn connection that could be a possibility too. But I think they are both some time of higher up guardian war lords themselves at one point or another. Cause although their eyes are the same color they are the opposites of each other. As it said where Verlyn's one eye was brown Jaden's was green and vice versa for the other eye too. So could have came from the vat of mysterious primal source goo. But still be on opposing sides.

message 591: by Tempi (new)

Tempi | 234 comments Indeed that could be a possibility. SK said that The primordial soup is big on balance so for every god of light and goodness there is a bad one so they complete each other. Like Azuras opposite is Cam. So I don't know about Jaden being the opposite of Verlyn, that would kind of make him evil. We need more facts not just some vague conversations.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Finished Seize the Night and loved. Definitely the best romance in the series so far. I loved Valerius and Tabitha together. Now I have to decide if Valerius overtakes Zarek as my favorite Dark-Hunter.
