Hi, this is my first goodreads group. I saw your were reading Fahrenheit 451 next month and it is one of my favorite books. I never thought I liked sciFi but I just read Enders Game and loved it, so I thought I could try some others.

Hola fellow fantasy and sci-fi lovers! Found this group through posts of Justine's. Saw you guys were at the same point in Malazan as I was so figured I'd drop in. Enjoy having a place to discuss those books. Seems like a great group, excited to start discussing
Hi Scott! :) Did you find the Malazan reading group thread? Kathi is doing an awesome job as the discussion group leader.
Hi Everyone - I'm Amanda. Justine and I are friends from another group and she thought I would like it here. I'm planning on joining both monthly reads for August. Looking forward to those. Also hoping to get started on the Malazan books I know I'm way behind you guys but hoping to jump in soon.

Welcome, Amanda!
Our Malazan book group is all over the place, and the various threads are all still open to read and comment, and most of us keep an eye on the older threads. Please join in!

Hi All - I'm Bill and like the last few I am here because of Justine. I saw her updates on the group and liked the look of the group bookshelf. Really trying to focus on cutting down my unfinished series so will probably mostly just join in on the standalone picks.
Hi everyone. I've been a group member a while, but never got around to discussion participation. I suspect God's War will probably change that.
Hi my name is Kay and I am from Arizona. I am mostly a fantasy reader but sometimes venture into sci-fi. Excited for your September books as I have read and enjoyed both of them. I am currently reading Half a War.
Hi everybody!I'm a fan of sci-fi and fantasy, and looking forward to finding awesome new books to read (as if my to-be-read pile isn't massive enough).
Hi! I'm colleen, and one of my gaming friends already participates in the group. His posts show up on my feed, and when I saw that you were discussing uprooted next month, I thought I should join!
Hi! I am Kim from Georgia and have been a sci-fi and fantasy reader since I learned to read. This year I have challenged myself to read sci fi and fantasy works from authors I have never read before, particularly those published in 2015. I just finished The Fifth Season, which I absolutely loved, and am now reading The Philosopher Kings which I am really enjoying. I have been meaning to read Dark Orbit and hope I can before the end of the month.
Hey all! I've been lurking for a short while but decided it was time to say hello. I've been reading SFF for 30 odd years. My tastes are hard to describe but my general rule is 'anything that can't happen to me in life'. Favourite authors include Wyndham, Noon, Vonnegut, Adams, Dick, Priest and a whole lot more. I love discovering something new and eagerly await the Clarke Award and Kitschies shortlists every year for new reading material. I review for a few sites and occasionally blog on mine and a publishers site. I dislike tribal fandom, country music and sprouts. Also a photographer, gardener and library manager.
Hi, I have been reading science fiction and fantasy since my schooldays, which were some time ago. I love the classic authors such as Michael Moorcock, Brian Aldiss, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke etc. However I am also interested in dicovering new authors, either those I missed while I was still working, or new authors like Becky Chambers or Nnedi Okorafor.
Hi there, I discovered this group through a friend of mine. I love fantasy and science fiction, and fortunately, there's no lack of really great books in either genre. I'm mainly listening to books if possible, that way, I can get to know a lot more books than if I had to read them myself. I share this passion with my eldest son, which is nice. :)I have no clue how groups work here on goodreads, this being the first one I joined. I love to discuss books, and I'm a member of a few book discussion sites. Is it obligatory to discuss a chosen book? If so, I guess I won't be able to participate, I don't think I could discuss two books per month here in addition to the books I discuss elsewhere. If it's up to me to join a discussion of a book, then I'm fine. :)
Welcome Leserling! Participation is totally optional. There are some months that I don't participate at all, but I usually chime in on the "what are you reading right now" threads to stay involved in the meantime. We understand that life is busy- participate or not as much as feels right to you!
Thank you, Shel and Justine. :) In that case, I'm sure I'll enjoy it here and I will participate whenever possible. :)
Hi, I'm a long-time lover of sci-fi/fantasy, ever since my Mom read us kids A Wrinkle in Time. She also didn't allow us to watch Star Trek (too sexy!) which, of course ensured that we became huge fans. I love a really wide variety of styles and am excited at the idea of finding new authors to read and discuss--after all, winter is coming
Hi everyone! Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to meeting folks and discovering new books! I've been a long-time Goodreads member but recently got back into reading.I've always been into fantasy, but find that high fantasy has started to bore me, unless it's really original. LOVE science fiction though, so I'm looking forward to finding new books in that genre. :) Currently re-reading the Harry Potter series, since it's been 15 years and I never got a chance to finish the series before the movies came out.

Hi, all, Just realized I've been lurking for awhile but never participated in the introduction thread.
I'm a longtime fantasy reader and am just now understanding the joys of sci-fi. I'm hoping to participate in the Expanse series read and am just over half way through Leviathan Wakes (WOW!). For my day job, I teach and study 19th-century American literature, so I especially love genre books that draw on that period (like Kindred). I live in Philly and am always happy to meet other local sci-fi/fantasy readers to talk books!
Thanks for putting together what seems to be such a great group!

Hi everyone, I'm Randy from southern California. I've been reading Science-Fiction and Fantasy since I was in grade school. I like to read several books at a time, usually from different genres, just to keep from getting bored and falling into the dreaded reading slump. Some of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy books I am reading right now include: - Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny
- Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
- The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
- The City & the City by China Miéville
- Ringworld by Larry Niven
- Rama II by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee
- A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin
I look forward to meeting you all and discussing some good books!
Hey there! Great looking group, and I am glad to be here. I love SF&F, and have read those genres for as long as I can remember.

Hi all. Can't remember how I stumbled in here, but I'm glad I did. I'm Matt. And no, I'm not the person in the photo. Sorry to disappoint. Anyway, I'm from England and I enjoy science fiction and fantasy, but mostly sci-fi, particularly space opera.

Welcome! If you're a space opera fan, jump in on our group read of the Expanse series -- we're on Babylon's Ashes right now but I'm sure we'll all still be happy to discuss the earlier books with you if you want to dive in (or if you've read them already)!
