I do not like these books. most of all for being such a long series

message 5: by Haley (new)

Haley I was fine with the first one. And maybe even the second one. But I only made it to book five or something before I could not take any more. I don't understand why people love them so much. I only like about three of the characters, and the authors use the same descriptions for everything in every book :P

Emma | 757 comments Haley wrote: "The House of Night series (which is still going)"

the first was quite good, but the rest just drag and it kinda feels like they just doing it for money now, they could have easily fit all the story into 3 or 4 books.

If you're right. maybe if they were three or four books would be better. but if they are already too many and if it still continues .. Thanks but no thanks

𝕁𝕒𝕕𝕖 (_𝕓𝕠𝕠𝕜𝕚𝕤𝕙_𝕘𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕣_) (notanotherbibliophile) | 17 comments The House of the Vampire I didn't even get half way through this book. It was a constant bore. It was an book intending to be an evening read and it definitely sent me to sleep.

My sister loves this book. but I do not think I want to read. I have read many books bored in my life to add another

message 11: by Santino (new)

Santino (tinoprinzi) The portrait of an artist as a young man. I can't even remember who it was by, but it is the only book I have ever abandoned halfway through.

message 16: by Christine (new)

Christine (christinekinsella) | 63 comments Might surprise some but for a college English class I had to read Lolita, it was a challenge, not at all anything I would care to read again :(

message 17: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (littlenatalie) I really hated The Host, by Stephanie Meyer. Tried to read it 3 times, & couldn't get much farther than the 200th page either time. So, it has been retired... Indefinitely.

message 18: by Chulz (new)

Chulz | 10 comments The worst book ever would be The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket ... and the entire series. Not because they're badly written or boring or cliche. No... It's more of I know reading it makes me hurt so much but I just can't stop it. Darn. Discovered and finished the series just last year. My eyes were sore and puffy for at least two whole months. The horror. Plain unforgivable.

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (originally_elle) | 250 comments 50 Shades of Grey is the only book I've never been able to finish. It was just so... stupid & badly written.

message 20: by Cora (new)

Cora (missteacher333) | 106 comments The Bible - total waste of energy & time. I read it because I was on a Jesus kick for 5 minutes in my 20's. A downer that isn't even interesting. Still don't know how I read the whole thing. Brainwashed I guess.

message 21: by Arwen (new)

Arwen Twilight
Immortals Series
The Host
I am Esther (good book, but really painful to read and gets you really angry)

Totally agree... I can't understand why the ratings are so high.

what didnt you like about it?

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (originally_elle) | 250 comments I agree with Arwen on the Immortals series.
That entire series was completely ridiculous & so drawn out!

message 25: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie The worst book i ever read has to be Candor by Pam Bachorz.

message 26: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Mugerwa (corrosivemind) I hated this book, Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I don't know why it won a Pulitzer Prize, or maybe I just don't appreciate depressing literature...

I beg to differ. The Bible is actually very interesting; Forget the religious perspective, I used to read the stories mostly in the old testament.

message 29: by Ayu (new)

Ayu (ianosheas) | 22 comments Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzgerald
Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
The House of Night series

Probably more...can't think of anymore right now.

message 30: by Christy (new)

Christy (cmblaker) Hannibal the sequel to Silence of the Lambs. Lord, it was just awful! I've never read anything as terrible as that.

message 31: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Huneycutt (whovianreader19) | 2 comments Shiver I could not get into that book at all. I don't like books that are slow.

Ayu (ianosheas) | 22 comments Brittany wrote: "It Takes Money Honey and believe it or not I don't find the twilight series that great"

Twilight series was boring. I've read them all more than once (shame, I had a lot of free time) and the way they are written and the way the whole series is paced is just boring. Especially New Moon. God, that was a horrible book.

I love The Host, also by Stephanie Meyer, but her tendency to stretch things out tends to yank at alot of people's patience. Thankfully, the plot was intriguing and the characters were written and portrayed fantastically.

message 34: by Ayu (new)

Ayu (ianosheas) | 22 comments Oh yeah, can't forget "Wake" by Lisa McMann. God. I don't ever want to see that book anywhere again. It was recommended to me by a friend who "doesn't like to read"...worst decision of my life.

message 35: by Brittany (last edited Mar 04, 2013 11:31PM) (new)

Brittany Perry | 229 comments The problem with meyer is the way its written I agree. I also read them all but found that new moon was the best but thought breaking dawn was the worst plus I think she comes off a little smug and rude to her fans. check out the comic con interview on the dvd for twilight and see how she answers a fan who asked a question about her characters all being super hot. In my opinion it was a valid question since most of her characters have no physical flaws. JR Ward has a character with a mangled leg, Sherrilyn Kenyon has a bookm where the heroine is a size 16 if I recall correctly and JK Rowlings characters have bushy hair glasses with tape, crooked noses, ect. Her writing is not very realistic.

Arwen Elle wrote: "I agree with Arwen on the Immortals series.

OH i am SO glad everyone seems to LOVe that series EXCEPT me! I think that Ever is a stuck up little, little (insert bad word) and that she only thinks about herself and the next person who is going to try and seperate her and Damon. by the end i was on Havens side, wanting to murder ever

message 37: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (cherry_crush) | 30 comments 50 shades of grey/50 shades darker. Somehow I managed to finish the first one since it was a gift, and i thought i'd give it a chance, but it was awful. And everyone kept telling me the second one is better and since it was already mine and paid for I thought... well I'd try and see. WORST.BOOK.EVER. It was awful, awful, awful.

On those if you've read the first you've read all three they repeat themselves and if you took out the rather pornographic parts u get boring

OH yep I agree. I never finished that book (although I have to say back then when I was reading the book reading was not one of my hobbies:) ). I might give it another try

message 41: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (originally_elle) | 250 comments The House of Night Series is a complete waste of paper & binding. How can people cheer for a girl who is pretty much a snobby little slore (slut/whore) who spends ever single book agonizing about thd 12+ guys in her life & bed!!

very bad series.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Anything by Nora Roberts - ugh

message 43: by Donna (new)

Donna (donna64) | 1 comments The Dark Tower. I just could not get into it.

message 44: by Leianne (new)

Leianne (bookybookworm1895) I think the worst books I have ever read were the 50 shades of grey series. The first one was something new to read and even that wasn't good but the two that followed were just samey, boring and badly written.

message 45: by Laura (last edited Mar 05, 2013 01:24PM) (new)

Laura | 62 comments I very rarely abandon a book, but I abandoned A Confederacy of Dunces. I had heard such good things about it but I could not get into it. I didn't find it funny at all (and it's supposed to be hilarious), the characters weren't likeable, and it felt so long.

I also hated The Amber Spyglass, but that was more disappointment. I had enjoyed the previous two books in the series, but thought this was a terrible finale.

message 46: by Frank (new)

Frank Hofer I couldn't get through The January Dancer the writing was so bad.

Way back when I had read I Will Fear No Evil and thought it was okay. Last year I tried to re-read it and put it down. It was terrible.

message 47: by Lena (new)

Lena (3lena3) | 25 comments firelight. I could not even finish it. boring, ridiculous, dense and slow.
and the immortals series. i hate that.

message 48: by Angelica (new)

Angelica Thompson | 134 comments I would say Moby Dick as much as I tried I couldn't get into it :/

message 49: by Tisha (new)

Tisha (tishajones) | 10 comments For me the worst book isn't just one. Modelland by Tyra Banks just...ugh I couldn't even finish that book. She should have read some fantasy books before she attempted to write one. The second would be Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I know everyone loves the books and the musical is awesome but I just hate his writing. He is overly descriptive and flowery. And the Twilight Series would have to be on my list as well.

message 50: by Marly (new)

Marly St.cyr Sovay by Celia Rees. The only book I couldn't finish. So boring.

And the evermore series, the characters were just too aggravating
