Stephanie I suggest Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
The China Garden by Liz Berry

message 52: by Kenna (new)

Kenna McKinnon (httpwwwgoodreadscomkennamckinnon) I'd like to vote for Insurgent.

message 53: by Karen (new)

Karen I love A Discovery of Witches and just finishe the second in the series Shadow of Night. I'm currently reading The End of Your Life Book Club and would highly recommend it as well. One of the great things about this book is that I'm getting a lot of new books to be put on my to be read list.

message 54: by Darrian (new)

Darrian (darebear96) I love this group but we always seem to read books I've already read. Everlost by Neal Shusterman is a phenomenal book. I read Unwind too but Everlost is far better. A book I just started reading is Shatter Me by Kasie West and IT'S SIMPLY BRILLIANT! I'm casting my vote for Everlost and Shatter Me.

message 58: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 82 comments I think that for a general group like this one we should stick to just the first book in a series for our main read. That way new members could join the reading without having to catch up, especially with longer series. Many new members join every day.
Of course, we could alwaysl open discussions for those who want to continue with a series.

message 59: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I disagree. There are a lot of series out there and not everyone has time to finish a series outside of the book club if they get interested in it on here. I think if everyone votes on a second in a series, then it should be as equal an option as the first in a series. We have two books every month and no one is required to read them both (or even one of them), so I don't think it matters if a book is the first in a series or not. We'll never all have read the same books anyway. Also, if someone hasn't read the first book in a series, they can always vote for a different option.

message 62: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Perry | 229 comments I think it might be good to broaden everyone's tastes so why doesn't everyone suggest a book that is not so well known? Something new from a new author perhaps? I mean as readers if we never try anyone who isn't mainstream those authors are not going to flourish and we are going to lose out on a book to read between the big releases. Everyone starts at the same place so why not try the new?

message 63: by Angelica (new)

Angelica Thompson | 134 comments I would like to suggest Impulse by Ellen Hopkins or really anything by her she's an amazing writer and her writing not only changed her life it changed others as well so yeah haha I'll keep suggesting books by her until it happens so if it doesn't happen this month look out for this suggestion again next month!! oh and here's a link to impulse http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27...

message 64: by Dustin (new)

Dustin (dalittlestelf) On a side note would it be possible to make thread folders for each new book so different discussion topics can be added to the books.

For example: I really want to start a topic about what faction people would join if they were in the society of Divergent

Catherine (pezzda) The Catcher in the Rye or maybe Insurgent

message 73: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 82 comments @Kristie,
OK, I agree that if it wins the vote then it should be picked. That said, how about we reserve one of the two reads for a first/stand alone?
I've looked at many groups and ended up not joining them because all their current reads were in the middle of a series (even when they had more than 2 per month)

P.S. I guess we could just set up a poll with this question and debate it below said poll :)

message 74: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 5 comments Maze runner, before I fall , delirium or book thief
Any of these would be a good idea ......I have read delirium( an amazing work) and before I fall(another masterpiece ) both by lauren Oliver and would highly recommend both .....I have not yet read maze runner and book thief but my best friend has and she does not stop praising them like anything so I think it would be a great idea to read any of these books ;)

message 75: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) I'd be up for Insurgent

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

Obernewtyn by Isobelle Carmody. It's not very well known but I absolutely love it.

message 77: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments @Jon I do see your point and I think that would be a great idea, but up to the moderator how she would want to handle it. Currently, she sets a poll with all the books mentioned here, then the top two picks are our reads for the month. Which is also a fair way to do it. I know I'm in another book club and if I'm not interested in the read for the month (due to how far along it is in the series or another factor) I just skip that month. I guess it helps that with two book clubs there's always something I want to read.

I can second this recommendation. It's been years since I read this but it is just astounding. Melina Marchetta is a marvelous author who deserves world-wide recognition. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
