Yes, and I loved it :) One of the few "mandatory" reads at school that I actually enjoyed.

Lee (kiwifirst) I am looking forward to hearing how you get on with it. Thats the wonder of books and opinions eh? I'd use it as a door stop and Dawn loved it. The best thing? We are both 100% right!

Dharmakirti | 942 comments I've been working on Dicken's Bleak House for about a month now and have only made it about 1/3 of the way through. I am finding the book to be a chore and I think I am about to give up on it.

I am about 1/2 way through The Lies of Locke Lamora and find it to be an ejoyable, entertaining read.

If I do give up on Bleak House Three Parts Dead will take it's place.

Walter Spence (walterspence) | 707 comments Listening to Jim Butcher's Fool Moon on my way back and forth to work.

Just finished Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door for another book club, and all I can say is that I now have a pretty good idea what it must feel like to be waterboarded.

message 155: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 2433 comments Finished Exile's Gate, the last Morgaine novel, and decided to keep on with C.J. Cherryh, now with The Collected Short Fiction of C.J. Cherryh (two thirds of which, admittedly, I've read before, but never in this context).

message 161: by Igor (new)

Igor (igork) | 105 comments I started Altered Carbon but somewhere in the middle I got myself a The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor and simply couldn't wait to read it. Altered is pushed aside for a time being but will be back to it after deadlings :)

Rodrigo is right! I've been too scared to pick up Frost Burned after the last one, and am waiting to collect some more reviews before I part with my $$$.
And I also found the Alpha and Omega series fantastic!

message 164: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) @ David (LA,CA)

Yeah this series seems to suddenly go up a couple of gears in writing and story quality. I didn't enjoy Summer Knight as much as the books that follow it. But I can say that the series just gets stronger and stronger.

You will change your mind Lee after you read the latest book, Cold Days.

Sandi (sandikal) | 1212 comments AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was close to the end of The Daylight War and I thought I was going to be really disappointed because it looked like nothing was going to be resolved. It turned out that only three of the four parts of my Audible purchase had been downloaded to iTunes. I have now downloaded it and have just under 5 hours of listening before I finish.

message 167: by Lee (new)

Lee (kiwifirst) @ Kevin? I'll change my mind about it getting stronger? Does that mean you didn't like cold days?

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 1081 comments Lee wrote: "@ Kevin? I'll change my mind about it getting stronger? Does that mean you didn't like cold days?"

No, it means Summer Knight becomes one of the most important book in the series, if not the most important book in the series because of Cold Days as many including me think it is the best book in the series. It sets up the background.

Dara (cmdrdara) | 2702 comments Had a hard time getting into Little Brother. The YA/teen feel isn't working for me right now so I'm continuing my Brandon Sanderson reads with The Way of Kings. Rob reading it motivated me to read it too.

I have always wanted to finish Kushiel's Dart but I always find something better to read. One day soon I will try to just get through it or let it go.

Reading the Rook now it is pretty good.

I don't mind slow moving, as long as something is happening. Sometimes you have fast paced books and yet nothing is really going on!

True I think people either love this book or they hate it not much in between.

message 182: by Scott (new)

Scott | 312 comments I finished Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived. And, William Kent Krueger's Trickster's Point (HIGHLY recommend his books if you like mystery/thrillers).

Gonna start Star Wars: The Old Republic:Revan this weekend

message 183: by Francois (new)

Francois | 2 comments Finished Midst Toil and Tribulation early march and since i'm into L.E Modesitt, finished The imager portfolio, the first 3 of the Corean Chronicle and i've starting the spellsong series.

message 184: by Mike (new)

Mike (mikennn) Well, I've been on a tear for the past six weeks. I've read Rule 34 (and am halfway through Halting State), all of Scalzi's Old Man's War books, The City and the City, The Rook, The Dog Stars, The Mongoliad: Book One (but I'm skipping the rest of the series), all of the "Richard Castle" Nikki Heat and Derrick Storm books, and I've just started Among Others and The Dervish House.

Aside fromS&L recommendations I've been listening to Jason Snell's The Incomparable podcast and have picked up quite a few good suggestions from there.

I have six additional books on my end table and they are due back to the library by April 6th so I need to keep up this pace for at least a while longer.

message 185: by Mike (new)

Mike (mikennn) Oh, and I'll start Downbelow Station on Wednesday (and hold off listening to the wrap up until I finish it).

message 186: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (verdellie) | 4 comments What am I not reading?! :)

I am finishing up The Wise Man's Fear and I love it. I hate myself for getting into a series that isn't finished (AGAIN).

Still haven't started Downbelow Station, but I've got 8 days.

Reading The Ghost Brigades since I loved Old Man's War. I was reluctant to pick it up when I saw it as the book pick for January, but am so glad I did.

It took a bit for me too, but I really liked it. Is very different. Can't wait to read The Twelve!

message 190: by Paul (new)

Paul (latepaul) Just finished Bad Things by Michael Marshall which I actually should've read before We Are Here but I did the other way around. There's a kind of supernatural element which I suppose you could call fantasy at a push. I enjoyed both, Bad Things is darker though.

Next up was supposed to be a Discworld novel but I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for that.

Lies was great, and I enjoyed the sequel, Red Seas Under Red Skies, very much as well. And I recently found out that Lynch has even more sequels. Since I couldn't purchase #3 for my Nook, I'm stuck having to wait. Or buy the dead tree, which I'd rather not do.

Doug Hoffman (dshoffman) | 62 comments Matthew wrote: "Just finished The City and the City. It was an interesting read. I think now I'll be jumping into Redshirts. Or I might go through my collection of unread books and pull out a random."

I enjoyed The City and the City well enough to read it twice. Have you read Mieville's Kraken? That's another one I liked well enough to reread.

I could not put that book down.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments I finally finished Oz Reimagined: New Tales from the Emerald City and Beyond... my review is here. I'd say 2/3 of the stories can be enjoyed even if you aren't really Oz-savvy, but the other 1/3 are best if you know the world well. I didn't, but still gave it 4 stars.
