ack. sounds awful. I don't blame you for dropping it....how disappointing... :(

Mehsi Trisha wrote: "ack. sounds awful. I don't blame you for dropping it....how disappointing... :( "

I know. :( I knew it would be a teacher x student love thing, but I didn't imagine it would be insta love with immediate sex and such. Also the teacher was just a horny (pardon my French) bastard, he was married and all, but didn't get things from his wife, so he went to 15/16 year old girls from his class. :\ *sighs* Very disappointing. And I really hope no 14/15/16 years will read this.

I know. :\ I was all raging every time something happened that was just so wrong (my boyfriend was all like: I don't want to know that).
I wish I had such a shelf too, would be very handy. Or a shelf to serve as a warning for others so they can avoid a book.

Very awful. :(

message 2575: by Harleen (new)

Harleen I just finished Ripple by Mandy Hubbard and it was okay, but it wasn't really that good.
But now I have to read A Break with Charity A Story about the Salem Witch Trials by Ann Rinaldi for summer reading and I am not looking forward to it at all :(

message 2576: by Mehsi (last edited Aug 15, 2013 01:32PM) (new)

Mehsi Angela (: wrote: "Mehsi, who's the author?"

A Belgian author named Dirk Bracke. Most of his books are quite good, but this one... no, just no. Maybe it is because he wrote it with another author.

message 2577: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments That sounds like a terrible book. :(

Mehsi Angela (: wrote: "That sounds like a terrible book. :("

It is, if only I knew that when I borrowed it from the library. I would have taken another book instead of this one.

message 2581: by Catriona (new)

Catriona (catrionagregory) | 241 comments Angela (: wrote: Did you like The Book Thief?"

Yeah, I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't normally read something set around WW2, but I guess different was good for me in the case.

I thought it was totally amazing. It wasn't really a "war" book, but a book about ppl who happened to be victims of the war.. does that make sense? My daughter loved it too!

message 2583: by Becky (new)

Becky (booklovingcoffeeaddict) | 4889 comments Finished my re-read of Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward {vampire smut}, I just love watching ppl fall in love... sigh...

Now I am going to force myself to get through Middle Ground (Awaken, #2) by Katie Kacvinsky if it kills me. It's a good book, not a terrible one - the writing is excellent. I just love my character and she is basically being tortured right now and I'm not handling it well. Yes, I know I have problems...

I think that what made it good was it being about the victims, rather than the actual war.

Daphne Q | 134 comments My four-star review of "Under The Never Sky"... I have mixed feelings about this book, but overall I really liked it. The story was intriguing, which is the main reason I've given it four stars. It was a bit inconsistent. Some parts flowed well while others lagged. For the most part, though, the characters were interesting and the writing was crisp.

message 2596: by Marie (new)

Marie | 56 comments I'm reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater and I don't really know what to think of it yet. At first, when it was the girl's perspective, I liked it but the boys's perspectives are making me so confuse. They all sounds the same and most of the times, I don't really understand what's it's going on and argh...

message 2597: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Dropped the unmaking of Hunter Kennedy. Dang that book was annoying. Vere just talked like a 10 year old, blushing every few pages, and Hunter, well I expected something more.

So now I will be reading (when I have time, it is weekend afterall): Boys, Bears, and a Serious Pair of Hiking Boots by Abby McDonald

Glad I am not the only one.
Well I got a bit farther than you, I was hoping it would turn out better, but instead I just wanted to smack both the characters (and also some others) on the head with the book. :\
