message 5538: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Bina (nataliebina) | 3 comments I am currently reading Being Friends with Boys, because I adore YA novels that center on boy-girl friendships. I think it is a subject that is not given enough time in the limelight, and is always pushed aside in favor of the classic boy-girl romance. However, boy-girl friendships offer some satisfaction and beautiful moments that I think are missed in romantic novels.

I am also thinking of starting. Delirium soon. Thoughts? Opinions? Reviews?

message 5539: by Marybeth (new)

Marybeth (narutofan14) i am halfway through Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan . It is long but every time i think about putting it down something crazy happens and i have to get through the next chapter. I have had this book since christmas and i started it before but i had
to put it down but now i can't seem to stop reading and thinking about it. I hope to finish it either today or tomorrow since we are supposed to have some weather coming in this weekend so it is perfect for staying in and reading as much as possible.

message 5542: by ayanami (last edited Jul 18, 2014 03:44PM) (new)

ayanami Have been doing a ton of audiobooks lately.

Finished:
The Taking (The Taking, #1) by Kimberly Derting - Interesting premise but poor execution.
Reboot (Reboot, #1) by Amy Tintera Rebel (Reboot, #2) by Amy Tintera - Solid duology, I liked the second book much more than the first.
Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver - This was a DNF when it first came out, but I decided to try again, it was alright. The worldbuilding is pretty flimsy, although I love the idea of love being a disease. I just don't think the author pulled it off convincingly. The prose, on the other hand, is excellent, and at this point I will probably check out anything Lauren Oliver writes.

Currently listening to:
Pandemonium (Delirium, #2) by Lauren Oliver - Lena seems like a much stronger character in this one, and I am enjoying it more than the first book. I'm not too sad about the absence of Alex, tbh. I wasn't that into him in the first book. I do miss Hana, though.

message 5543: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylawrites89) | 34 comments I have a lot I'm reading right now, thankfully everything is different so I won't screw it all up and confuse the books!

Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (Wicked Years, #1) by Gregory Maguire - Loving this book, it's had me sucked in since page one and I'm excited to finish it!

The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #3) by Rick Riordan - I read books 1 and 2 a couple years back and I figured it was time to finish the series so I can finish reading book 1 of the Heroes of Olympus

Glitches (The Lunar Chronicles, #0.5) by Marissa Meyer - A prequel novella to Cinder. This is the story of Cinder when she first comes to live with her long time Step-Family.

The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan - Put this one on hold until I finish the rest of Percy Jackson, but I'm over halfway through The Lost Hero, so I know it's going to be worth the wait.

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge - I picked this one up at the library and because it's based on one of my favorite fairytales, I've been devouring it since I first picked it up. Cannot wait to read more and finish it.

message 5544: by Marybeth (new)

Marybeth (narutofan14) OH MY GOD! i just finished reading the best book of the month and i can't wait to get the second book from the library the next time i go. I just finished Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan and now i will take a break from reading since i have been reading for the past two days trying to finish that book. So tomorrow i will try to read City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare but since i have to go to a friends house tomorrow i might bring Breathe (Breathe, #1) by Sarah Crossan with me.

I've heard it's super sad and moving, but I'm looking forward to it. I've heard the movie is also good.
