Jessica (jessicadowell) 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper

Book #2 I usually don't read non-fiction books, but people kept telling me I should read this book & im so glad I bought the book. I have passed it on to my grandmother and some of my other family. This book gave me a new look on life. I would also give it 5 stars, it's not the best written book i've read, but the message of it was very inspirational.

Jessica (jessicadowell) Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos

Book # 3I read the book Love Walked In & I didn't like it. Some parts were better than others, overall I would give it 1 star. I think this is the authors 1st book, so im sure she will improve in her writing as she continues to write more.

Jessica (jessicadowell) Two Rivers by T. Greenwood
Book # 7 Two Rivers by T. Greenwood.
This is another book I read in Jan that I almost forgot to list. I enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to anyone. It has lots of twists in the book which keeps it interesting. I especially love the character Marguerite, she brings so much life to the story. I would give it 4 stars.

Jessica (jessicadowell) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Book# 8 The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
Handle with Care & The Hunger Games are at a tie for my favorite book read so far this year. This book is very different than what I would normally read, but this year my goal is to get out there and challenge myself to different things, & to my surprise I loved this book!!!! The book is very morbid, but oh so good! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Sci-fi & who can stomach violence in a book. Overall I give it 5 stars. The 2nd book is set to come out in either Aug or Sept & I will be buying it as soon as it's released.

Jessica (jessicadowell) Evermore (The Immortals, Book 1) by Alyson Noël Veronika Decides to Die A Novel of Redemption (P.S.) by Paulo Coelho The Shack by William P. Young . These are the books I hope to have completed over the next couple weeks. Im a slow reader, but I feel confident I will reach my 75 goal.
Enchanted Erotic Bedtime Stories For Women by Nancy Madore I'm also going to buy this book tomorrow to read a few pages at a time when I get a chance. I saw this on someones to-read list & it looked interesting. Once again I am challenging myself with new readings since I have never read an Erotica book.
Coraline by Neil Gaiman I requested the book Coraline from the library yesterday. Hopefully I will get it soon.

Jessica (jessicadowell) Veronika Decides to Die by Paolo Coelho
Book# 9 Veronkia Decides to Die: A Novel of Redemption. ~Paulo Coelho

I really liked this book. Most everyone can relate to this book in some shape or form. Mental illness is something most have experienced either themselves or with someone they know. I would give this 4 stars. It was a quick read, but a good one. I had this book read in one day. It's only 210 pgs.

My favorite part of the book:(pg 31)
VERONIKA: "Is this a prison?" she asked the nurse, who had stopped reading and was now watching her every movement.
THE NURSE: "No, it's a mental hospital."
VERONIKA: "But im not crazy."
The woman laughed.
THE NURSE: "That's what they all say."

Jessica (jessicadowell) Wow! I cant believe how far behind i've got on reading. I recently got married in July & moved to NC to be with my hubby. It's been so busy! I doubt I'll reach 75 by December...but I'm going to start reading more now. My hubby deploys to Africa Tuesday for a month so I'll have plenty of time to catch up on some reading.

message 19: by Merri (new)

Merri Jess- you got married and moved- I think those are pretty good reasons not to have a lot of time to read! I moved in March and I was nuts about not having my reading time! it is so relaxing for me. In my opinion- relax- when I tried to rush through books to make it to the 75 I didn't enjoy them as much- Read at your own pace- you will enjoy it more and probably read more books in the long run! LOL

Jess, congrats on your recent marriage. I agree with Merri - a new marriage, plus moving is a lot of stress even if it is all good. I'm glad you're finding some reading time now, and I'm really glad you're sticking with this thread. It's always nice to hear from you.
