OWM: Did the book make you want to read the rest of the series ?

I found it enjoyable, I'm a bit curious about the books that follow this one. Have you read them ? What did you think in comparaison to this one ?

Not read anymore but am interested and have bought the follow up. Got some other books I want to read first so it didn't get me to have to read the follow up immediately but I'm certainly interested in seeing where it goes from here.

This book got me to read the entire series and most of John Scalzi's other fiction works.

I've read the sequels through to Zoe's Tale. I think this first book was the best - mainly because I thought the process of discovery for John ie new body, brain pal, how it all works was fun. Apart from that the main thing that kept me on the hook was the Consu. I really wanted to learn more about them. Sadly that didn't really happen that much. The next two books were fun but I didn't feel anything much "new" about them, though the Obin were fun - and Zoe's Tale was a retelling of book 3 from her POV which I found boring. I'd already read that story. Even though I enjoyed most the books I have no desire to read any more Scalzi for a while.

When I first read OMW a couple years ago, I went on to finish the whole series (Zoe's Tale had just come out). I then read the copy of Agent to the Stars someone had given me the year before that I'd never gotten around to. I was pretty much a Scalzi fan by that point.

I wouldn't say Scalzi's work is the deepest or most innovative I've ever read (and he'd probably agree), but for me he's one of the most readable SF authors today. It generally takes me 2 or 3 days at most to get through one of his novels, and I will laugh or smile at several places throughout, and be thoroughly entertained. I am appreciating the TV show-style narrative of the Human Division serial at the moment.

Same here. Thoroughly enjoyed reading all of his work.

I read all four plus The Sagan Diary over about a year. Enjoyed them all but will wait on the Human Division until its available as a single book.

I lent the series to my sister who usually doesn't like Sci Fi and she gobbled it right up to the point of immediately going out and obtaining the rest of the series. I'm waiting on her to finish up, and then I'll be reading them. I enjoyed the easy writing style for a change from the usual stuff that gets read.
