I'm currently at "Safe Haven", and while it is a slow read I do find Sparks to be quite comfy.
Also, I find it hard to imagine that "Message in a bottle" could be even worse in writing than it was as movie. :D

Really? That's on my 50 books to read before you die list, it's meant to be a really influential book. But so is men without wom..."
I was truly moved by "Memoirs of a Geisha". I didn't expect to care about the subject or the setting, but I did. But no book can be for everyone. "Twilight" makes so many people's worst list because so many more people have read it. If all the same people had been forced to read "Jude the Obscure", "Ethan Frome" or several other books I might mention, then there would be many books higher on the "worst" list than "Twilight".

I didn't think the first Twilight novel was too bad. I think if it had been a stand-alone book, it wouldn't have the stigma that it has now."
I think you and I are the only two people in the universe who didn't like The Kite Runner. I even read it twice to make sure I wasn't missing something. Still awful.

hmm...i still haven't read a book that i would call the worst XD *thank god* LOL

Ew, The Book Thief. *shudders* The only thing I liked about that book was the narrator.

“Indeed, with names like ‘Digeridoo’ and ‘Cappucina’ for countries, and ‘Bestosterone’ for a male model academy, there is no denying its absurdity.”
Like what the hell??? And it topped children’s bestseller in 2011??? I’ve never heard of it!!! And those names for countries?? I take it ‘Digeridoo’ is suppose to be Australia’s equivalent, but can anyone work out Cappucina??? Possibly, Italy because it’s the home of cappuccino?

And maybe, Bestosterone is for Male's testosterone or something? hahaha!

Totally agree. I spent the whole novel actively disliking Holden.
And Linda, if you take those novels for what they are (a talented writer trying to get some bulk to their name and a decent fee from ghost writing while the celebrity uses their name to promote the piece) then they can be nice puff pieces. I read "Katie Price's" Angel early last year, and it was pretty tolerable. Also, I don't think Katie ever read it, because it sounds like her autobiography. With one of the Wanted instead of Pete (and she's lucky the Wanted haven't done anything like sue!)

It's the same for this book with a positive theme. Dr Suess could of rhymed and made it more entertaining in about 15 pages. " That is 45 mins (hey I read slow!) of my life I will never get back!

I hated that book so much

But I also hate the books we have to read in my school. I live in denmark, so it is those weird, danish authors we have to read.
We read a book about a boy, who is probably sick(?) He wants to chance the world and give food to children in the 3. world. He kept counting things and being weird. The chapters were extremely short. One chapter were like this:
"Chapter 15
The sun was shining. Someone stood behind the garage and it was..." And then the chapter ended like that! You never found out who stood there. The boy and his girlfriend stole a truck with food and drove to Africa to give the food to the poor children. The truck got stolen and the girlfriend ran after it and was run over and died and then it ended.
A other book was just a boring book about a guy who was friends with a guy with cancer. The main character kept shitting, even in his pants one time.
Another book about a boy who wanted a bigger penis, and he saw his dads and was jealoux.
So yeah, between a weird book about a crazy guy, a book with a shitting guy, a guy who wanted a bigger penis and Twilight... Twilight is still worse.

Seriously? The Kite Runner was such an amazing book. The media and experts agree with me. But everybody knows, deep inside, that Twilight sucks.

Awful, horrible, almost turned me off literature for life (its worse as this a critically acclaimed book).

I know why it was 70p.
It wasn't worthy of the 70p.
The House of Night series is the WORST series I have ever read. Ever.

Dear I read till 10th book, and the guy still havn't touch the girl. And the Manga was published in 2006, way way before Twilight made its way to Japan. I think you are very mistaking in your view of the manga. Besides, Black Bird's characters are NOT vampires, and they don't really live in the mortal realm, much of the story happens in their own hidden realms.

He sexually harasses her a lot. (view spoiler) it doesn't matter if they're Vampires, Demons or even Kitsunes, Everyone is after her because of her "special" blood. Besides it doesn't matter if by the time Twilight came to Japan, Black Bird was already out. Twilight was written and thought up BEFORE Black Bird was.

Well, you failed. The majority of answers are NOT twilight. Stupid troll.

I'm guessing you missed the part where she said "under the assumption". I don't see how this is trolling.

LOL...
LOOOOOOL....
Stealing something before it's happened. Thank you for the good laugh. Plus, Twilight has stolen from a medley of other older vampire books.. mixed in with elements from other sources. "Special blood" isn't exactly special, you know.

I can use the same argument and say Twilight is a ripoff of Sookie Stackhouse, which is about sexy mostly non-human killing vampires in urban fantasy setting, published in 2001. or maybe Twilight is a rip off of Vampire Knight, published in 2005 or "Blood +", the list is really long.
Have you read Sunshineby Robin McKinley, published in 2003, about a sexy vampire who refuse to take a drink from a girl. By the way if you liked Twilight, you'll definitely enjoy Sunshine. If you didn't like Twilight, the chances are you'll love Sunshine.
And while, I am 100% against sexual harassment in real life, in shōjo manga genera, sexual advances, from handsome boys is a very popular trope, the cliche could probably be found in one form or another in most of the shōjo mangas. Let me know your tolerance level, I could probably recommend something less offending.

My sympathies...
*Josefine sorry my brain likes to act weird on me

That book set out a magnificent plot of a detective chasing a gruesome serial killer, but out of the 16 chapters only a few have the detective or the killer and they meet in only about two of them. The other chapters are filled with pointless revenge that has pretty much nothing to do with the plot and half assed back story that tries to make you feel sorry for the killer but only makes you think that they need to be put down more. Did I mention the end felt like it was thrown in?
Many might not have like Twilight, but Schism makes it look like it was written by a literary god.

Critically acclaimed tends to mean 'weird and messed up but we don't want to admit we didn't understand it' or else 'factually correct but mind-numbingly boring.' So don't worry about hating a book that's acclaimed ;)
