message 2627: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments These are in no particular order: Rising (Rising, #1) by Holly Kelly The Kiss of a Viscount (The Daughters of the Aristocracy) by Linda Rae Sande Let Love Live (Love, #5) by Melissa Collins Sixty Five Hours by N.R. Walker The Other Brooks Boy (Texas Wildfire, #1) by Diane Roth
And when I checked my stats I was surprised how many five star books I had. I believe, these books would make a 6 star rating LOL XD

message 2628: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments omg someone who read rising XD. have u read the second book in that series?

message 2629: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Smith (rlsauthor) | 626 comments I can't do a favorite one so far this year either, so a list it is!

First up is a three-book series. My cousin told me about them and I devoured all three 800+ page books in a month. Would have been faster, but had to inter-library loan them.
The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1) by Paullina Simons
Tatiana and Alexander (The Bronze Horseman, #2) by Paullina Simons
The Summer Garden (The Bronze Horseman, #3) by Paullina Simons

Then Born of Fury, of course. The last one I've really enjoyed so far this year doesn't have a release date yet. I have one fellow author who has me read all of her manuscripts before they go into final edits, as her fashion consultant for her historicals.

message 2630: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments *smacks Forehead* OMG yes!! Born of Fury. Definitely a favourite!!

message 2631: by Ally (new)

Ally | 325 comments For me it's Born of Fury, Outlander (Diana Gabaldon) Written in red (Anne Bishop) dark skye (Kresley Cole) and shield of winter (Nalini Singh)

Can't remember if I discovered Jeanine Frost and Daryinda Jones this year so they aren't in there just in case but they are new top authors as well :) it's been a good book year!

message 2632: by Ally (new)

Ally | 325 comments Ps Shari have you read the others in the odd Thomas series? And have you seen the film?

message 2633: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments LOL oh ur reactions when u find that u forgot about a fave book for this year, shari XD

message 2634: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Yaaay! Someone else that has read The Others seried!? Are you following Anne Bishop on FB, Ally!? She is hilarious.

I've read up until the 5th in Odd Thomas series but they started to go downhill to me after the first book. I absolutely looove that book and his character. Out of all the characters I've ever read about in my life, he is my number 1. No one will ever be as special to me. I was never, ever interested in a Dean Koontz book before until I seen a preview of the movie. I read the book first of course and then watched the movie. I enjoyed it even if it came off a bit cheesy. Not to mention I love that both Anton Yelchin and Willem Dafoe were in it. What about you!?

message 2635: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

message 2637: by Ally (new)

Ally | 325 comments I'm not following Anne Bishop yet but I will in a few minutes ;)

I really liked the others series so far. I've also started her jewels of the blood series, and quite enjoying it so far.

Yeah I loved the first odd Thomas book but I found a similar thing, they just lost steam a bit. The character is brilliant and the first book is superb but I think I got as far as number 4 before giving up. Another good book by Dean Koontz is seize the night, the characters are some of my favourites, bobby especially...a bit like savitar without the powers ;)

I liked the film, like you I like anton yelchin (spelling error!) and Willam Defoe is perfect as the chief :)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Ally wrote: "I'm not following Anne Bishop yet but I will in a few minutes ;)"

Make sure you follow the Anne Bishop's courtyard page too. That's exclusively for the other series books.
Lol. She does a post every now and then where she's conversing with the wolves from the series. Just yesterday they were sniffing around her office and one of them ate her notes to her next book. Then they went out to chase the bunnies in the garden. It's cute.

My momma is reading that series. I'm reading her Ephemera series. It was a bit confusing at first but it's really good and very original. The world building is amazing!

I'll try that Seize the night out. Like I said, I always kinda knew Koontz wouldn't really be for me especially since he seems to always be compared to Stephen King. And his work seems to be a lot of hit and miss. If you say it's good though, I'll try it out. And no way am I missing out on anyone who is like Savitar

message 2641: by Ally (new)

Ally | 325 comments Just 'liked' that page too, thanks for the tips :)

I've not heard about that series, might check it out.

I got it wrong the first book in that series of Dean Koontz is called "fear nothing" lol I've not read them in years so I'm paranoid now that savitar and bobby are nothing alike but both are sarcastic and there are other similarities....I remember when I first read about savitar I thought of Bobby so it could just be me.
I liked them though, the characters are really interesting.

Just trying to choose between ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs for next author to try.

message 2642: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments Patricia Briggs for the Mercy Thompson series?

message 2643: by Ally (new)

Ally | 325 comments Yeah, I've got both names written on my list of too read so got to pick between them

message 2644: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments oooh. the mercy thompson series is really popular. i have one of the books that i got out of the bargain bin at the book store a couple years ago but just never got to it. whichever one u pick hope its good ^.^

I had a look at it and will eventually get it, but I have so many free books on my pc at the moment, that I am not willing to spend money yet on series. I had hoped it would have been a stand alone, but alas it wasn't so. Nice idea though. And no explicit sex scenes. (Guess that's why it stood out XD).

Hi, how did you like Jeaniene Frost? I stumbled over her books at my library and thought the first one was quite funny. I read a few more of her books (including the 2 vlad ones) and while they weren't bad, I lost interest and cancelled the booking on the books of hers I hadn't read. It kinda felt like the same old, and the sex scenes across the couples (and the couples themselves) all seem to be the same as if there was a vampire-sex-101 that everyone followed to the T. How did you like Reaver? Have you read the others? I loved all of them and can't wait for Revenant to come out and be available in my library.

I really like her Night Huntress series so far (it sounds like that's the series ure asking about). Book 4 was my favorite out of the ones that i've read tho. the first one in the series is definitely not as serious. never read any of the spinoffs to it. the only other book i read by her was her new series The Beautiful Ashes, which i highly recommend as long as u like that genre. its ya/na definitely one of my favorites up there with va, divergent, and hunger games. reaver was pretty good. it was nice finally getting to see his side of things XD. read all of lords of deliverance except for the last book (not counting the add on novellas) and all of demonica except for book 1 and 2.

Wow Blood and Chocolate was challenged in 2001. Dude I think I've always been participating and didn't realize it.
