Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments I had 28 out of 69, but some were kind of ambivalent in the way of putting the question. I was like under these circumstances I could tick but with that word in the question I have to no tick. Doh'.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question- Do you think you get more mellowed out/tolerant the older you get?

message 2406: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Yep, definitively, in most ways. You young chicks will have pretty much a wake up call once you reach a certain age and all of the sudden you look at things differently. I used to have some real grounded and stiff views on life and in general but now I am pretty much "mellowed out" as you call it. >_< :P

message 2407: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I actually want to see what I would look like mellowed out to be honest. Cause in general I think personally I'm pretty flexible about a majority of things at times. And sure some of my thinking is more moderate than liberal. But I'm for sure not a stick in the mud like most peeps I've come across through the years.

message 2421: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I read a book not too long ago on cannibalists in a small town. They'd go after the tourist or wanderers. Went on for generations. Most of the people in town knew what was going on but never got outside authorities involved. They were too scared cause it just so happened that they cannibals owned a lot of the land in the town. They may eat people but they weren't stupid. lol

Lately the same is true for me as well. When I was younger could have cared less. Now I'm turning into such a ninny over bugs crawling near me.

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments fear of falling (similar to the fear of height), but I can actually look down as long as there is a rail or glas keeping me from falling, loss of house and home, lately I started to get that fear of regretting things I haven't done in my life yet. Gee, sounds pretty much like midlife chrisis to me. LOL

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Get your hubby some short shorts and have a built in cabana boy to go with the crisis Manuela. ;)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments LOL I think it will be only temporary. I am trying not to get too involved with my fears. Hubby is wearing short shorts but it just gives me the chills (we have winter here). He is working hard to keep the roof above my head but therefore we losing out on doing a lot. He is always tired on weekends. I am trying to animate him to go out and meet friends to get out of the house. Otherwise we are good at the moment.

Now now, Dhfan4life. No one on GR is irritating...lol

I'm with Shari-amor. GR and Facebook keeps me up to date on things going on in the world. I have no use for TV and don't Twitter. The internet is the BEST invention of my generation!

message 2437: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Haha, you haven't met some of the peeps I have Nette. But yes for the most part it is better than most.

message 2438: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments My introverted self loves the internet. I can socialize and have fun without having to leave my house and actually talking to people. To be honest, I could live without FB as well. Like Nette said it keeps you up-to-date on things going on in the world and in other's lives but I don't really chat with anyone on there that much. I'm usually on Goodreads most days. Everyone here shares my enthusiasm for books. Not the case on Facebook

message 2439: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh I'll concur with ya on the help with my introverted side as well with GR. But I'm just lucky enough to come across the few sour apples on any site where you chatting too long. I swear regardless of how many times I re-write something to say things how I mean them. I find those few that live to eat my head off cause I said the wrong thing. I never tried the other social sites, just saw fellow friends pages. But I think I'm more than good after our snake feed episode from yesterday.

Nette | 202 comments Dhfan4life wrote: "Oh I'll concur with ya on the help with my introverted side as well with GR. But I'm just lucky enough to come across the few sour apples on any site where you chatting too long. I swear regardless..."

I guess it's much easier to converse with others on the internet than in person for some. I'll talk to a tree if I stand next to it long enough...lol I don't know a stranger, literally! If someone peeks my interest or catches my eye, I'll walk up to them and start talking to them...lol My daughter use to get so embarrassed but she's learning to do it also. I used to do it in the passing in stores just to see if people would respond if I spoke to them...lol They usually do and then we go from there.

Dhfan4life, don't let people get to you about your choice of words. If someone doesn't agree with your comment/opinion about something, just agree to disagree. Sometimes people will start a conflict just simply because they can. I know...because I do it, for fun of course...lol

I'm always checking out Facebook. I don't always respond or comment on what's going on but I'll pop in from time to time to stir the pot...lol

Oh my gosh, you are so related to my folks. They live for(especially my dad) for randomly talking to people in stores at times. I never got embarrassed by it as it was just their thing. But I for one could never and still couldn't just talk to someone at the random, haha. I swear I'm thinking of like 50 things to even say and then even to say something at all, makes me feel like I'm bugging them if they are shopping or something. So I just wait til I'm addressed. The web erases that to an extent when you want to drop a thought or two about something and it's great.

Oh I try not to most days for sure. Because the main thing I always remember is that I know what my intent is when talking to anybody. Which is, I'm not out to hurt someone else with what I say. Sure I have strong opinions like everyone else at times. But at the end of the day I'm just expressing my take on things. That includes even when I'm being mischievous and doing some of my own pot stirring a bit lol. But yea, at times some peeps seem to take me as being brutally honest(which I've never been in my life, lol), or they think I'm being rather harsh or mean, when I'm just having a headache that day or something. So can't win for losing at times.

But woot, glad to know there is another pot stirrer at times. ;)

I think sometimes people just take me way too literally at times. Or seem to think I can't have a bad day like others at times. I'm only human after all.

Who's the magnet on GR?"

Lol, she was meaning me Nette. Cause ever since I've come to the site, I've had a few peeps here or there start out friendly enough with me and I them. And then it was review blog, not being enough of a friend, etc. etc. drama with some people. People whom themselves were making the majority of the situations about themselves and not listening to me in the first place.

Your family sounds like a fun bunch to me...lol My mother taught me to be the way that I am. She said a closed mouth doesn't get fed. People won't know you, unless open up to them. Technology is causing a problem with today's generation. People text instead of talking to someone in person. I'm from a generation where you looked someone in the eye while communicating with them. If you didn't make eye to eye contact with them then you're were considered "shakey" or untrustworthy. Your word was literally your bond. How can you trust someone over the internet if you can't see them and their reactions to you?

Times have changed. Though the internet has broadened our reach to people, we still don't have that one on one up close in person interaction with others. Now don't get me wrong. I really enjoy being able to reach others from the convenience of a key stroke but person to person has its rewards as well.

message 2448: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments They for sure can be at times. But yea, they've always naturally been more extroverted than myself. I'll communicate and do the eye contact stuff when I have to. But I've never been one to mingle and socialize with a lot of strangers if it's not online. Just this natural feeling/thinking I'm bugging people if I don't have to talk to them about something in particular.

Oh, ah ha...lol Well I like you and that's what's important to me. You're entitled to your opinion as well as anyone else. Opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one.

I've met some awesome people on GR, alone. Some have visited me several times, here in New Orleans in the last few years. They've come here to get a taste of the "Big Easy" to see if it's anything like the books we've(Dark Hunter fans)read together and to be social. I LOVED every moment of their visits! I met them ALL on here, the internet(Amazon and GR discussion threads). They were of different back grounds, races, ages and cultures, literally. Some are members of this group. And we had a blast talking about Dark Hunter books and visited sited mentioned here in the DH series.

A little pot stirring gets conversations going, aye...lol

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Aww, thanks you Nette. -Big hugs-

That is awesome. Would love to soak up some of the culture down that way myself. And taste a real po' boy. Gotten a few from Popeye's and they are nice enough. But nothing like getting them where they are most popular. But yea that is so great too. When you truly can make awesome friends and hang out and meet face to face. Makes it even better.

It is indeed. ;)
