actually snakes dont come around that often. ive only seen a snake 4 times in my life haha. not behind glass that is. all of the snakes i saw was when i was younger. there was a king snake, that brown snake, some kind of a green garter snake (im guessing thats what it was anyways), and a water moccasin. i'll have to tell u the story on the water moccasin one day, cherale, rofl.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I second that Shari. Come to us for visits Jennifer. That is starting to sound more like a snake orgy there by the second. And for the most part it was just while you were younger too. Oh man.

And ironically enough popz has had similar experiences with a bunch of snakes too. When he was in North Carolina way back when. Definitely something to deal with for sure.

Getting out of dodge is the smartest plan I know. Don't pet it, don't feed it, and get the hell out of there. Quick, fast and efficient.

Jennifer | 1747 comments LMAO and now all of goodreads knows how to scare ya'll. a certain hiking spot in colorado is really well known for having rattle snakes there. fortunately when i went it was cold so they were hibernating O_O.

Thats cray cray. What did you end upp doing with it!? I wonder if there are other snakes that behave like cobras if they feel threatened. You don't know what kind of snake that was by chance do you!? Maybe it mimicked another snake doing it!

message 1410: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments i was home alone so i was just glued to the glass watching it LOL. i left for not long and when i went back it was gone x.x. no idea. my dad wasnt sure either. lmao that's a pretty cool thought @ mimicking it XD.

message 1414: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Spiders I'm cool with. I mean I dont want it as pet or nothing but I'm not all that squeamish around them.

And yes snakes are definitely number one animal fear lol

Haha, good call.

And to be honest the hiking in general scares me in Colorado. I'm so not one for rock climbing or any of that. So another wig out sort of experience.

See that was the thing. I never was squeamish about bugs and what not when I was younger. But now that I've seen TV shows where people have had spiders that have crawled down in their ear drums. Flies laying eggs in a woman's ear while on vacation and having maggots on the brain. Just yea, has given me a whole new perspective.

:-( You left the snake unattended!? I would of had to know where that thing was at all times. Lol
That would be cool, terrifying but cool.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments HAHAHA, I swear the more I learn about ya Shari the more I love ya. Stalking the thing that freaks ya out. I can so see you with a camera following the snake and freaking out, yet still recording.

message 1419: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments LOL shari (@ hiking)!

hiking in colorado where i went wasnt really that bad. there wasnt any rock climbing involved except for two rocks we climbed over if u wanna count that rofl.

tv has scarred poor cherale lol. its ok, i grew up watching horror movies with all the crazy animals and bugs, etc. x.x so now theyre all a danger zone to me.

LOL i was only in my teens when i left the snake. u couldnt really see much distance wise in width where it was at anyways so i would of had to go outside rofl.

haha, cherale is right!

message 1420: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments New Question- Do you have any food trucks in your area? If so, have you ever bought anything from them/do you visit them often? Or as a special treat every now and then?

We have a truck coming each morning to work supplying sandwiches and breadrolls, cakes, iced coffees and other goodies. I hardly use it because I find it extremely expensive. I usually bring my food from home.

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP wrote: "what's the weirdest thing yall have ever saw?"

the weirdest thing I have seen was a chicken we had on the chicken farm with two heads, closely followed by "moving earth" on the same farm. The owner had allowed for the neighbouring farmer to use the surrounding land that wasn't close to the five chicken sheds (25.000 chicken in each) and when he came in with the heavy machinery (disk plough) to shift and turn the earth we saw hundreds of thousends of mice scattering in all directions. It looked like the earth was moving, amazing and frightening at the same time.

I can deal with spiders as long as they are not too big and too fast. We have a few living in and around our house. I usually leave them where they are and check on them occasionally to make sure they are not gone off to bite any unsuspecting person.

Hawke Mac Taster (same rule here too).

message 1433: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 10 comments I actually have two friends that own food trucks.. One is called "Alaskan Mikes Fry Bread" and the other one is called "I wanna Wok" . The second one is Pan-Asian food with a flair. I haven't tried either one, but both guys seem to be doing fairly well with the business end of it, and go quite often to the food truck rallies. I know one in our area was called the TACO BUS, which now has opened resturants..
I say it might be worth the try, seems to be the "thing" these days.. I just remember when my dad used to call them "the roach coach" lol

message 1434: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Mice!? Thousands!?
*Falls out* That sounds horrifying. Thats a good description though since I have a good visual

Well really big or fast spiders would creep me out but not enough to either kill em or put em out the house. I grew up with a sister who suffered from arachnophobia so I was the main one who was rescuing her from the eight legged freaks

message 1435: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Hahaha they're still called the roach coach by a few people here Cheryl but its mostly people from the older generations.

That has both sickened me and creeped me out as well. I can't stand rats and mice like cousins. Even Stuart Little grosses me out. And in thousands, sweet baby Jesus.

Haha, good thing my dad didn't read what you said Cheryl. As my dad would definitely cling to the roach coach name for sure. He isn't a fan of them either. Even though he has never tried anything from one. Just his imagination and sanitation concerns.

message 1437: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (last edited Aug 10, 2013 09:22PM) (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments New Question: Men have been going topless for years. Mowing the grass, working on the car, being out in public in general. Now it is women's turn. Or is it? Recently a woman in a New York restaurant. Do YOU feel it is time for women to be just as topless as many? Any time? Any where? And if so, would YOU be willing to participate?

http://gothamist.com/2013/07/09/yes_w...

message 1438: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments You know I had this discussion with my cousin when we went to the waterpark. I was like some of these men have bigger boobs than me and they get to flaunt theirs. Why cant I flaunt mine!? And I would if it wasn't such a huge deal. Not in a restuarant though, everybody keep your clothes on, there is a time and place for everything. The same reason people are so hard up about women baring it in public is the same reason men cant have a frontal dick shot in mainstream movies. Mind immediately goes to sex. A woman can't even breastfeed because people get immature about it. Like I said though, I'd love to walk around topless or bike ride.

message 1439: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (last edited Aug 10, 2013 10:39PM) (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Can always go to New York as it is most legal there. Can ride through Central Park. :) Just my thing is as you said it's not only contextually inappropriate what that woman did(i.e. who needs boobs with their dinner in a public restaurant?). But the whole fact of the matter is, we live in a very sexually driven society here in America. To even show too much leg or collar bone can go from sophisticated to uber sexual in a matter of seconds. And there is no way in the hell there is going that will leave a woman alone topless. It's just not what our culture is built on here unfortunately.

Not only that, but in general rather my boobs are big or small. I personally just don't want to see random women with their chest hanging out. You make a good point that yes guys can and have been doing it forever Shari. With bigger boobs than most women out there. But to me it's just gross when I don't know you that well or you aren't in a porno. I mean what is the point of it really? Kind of be the same thing as a man suddenly whipping out his testicles for no reason. Just WTF are you doing it for? lol.

I'll add to with that chick, it totally seemed like a staged event. As the date or friend or whoever totally was ready with a camera. Be different maybe if she was doing it in the park or going about her way. But clearly she should have known she wouldn't be served like that.

message 1440: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Yeah that was staged. She knew what kind of response she'd get and caught it on camera so she can make papers.

I think because I grew up in a household where for the most part we walked around half naked and were open about nudity (only when dad wasnt home though cause that would be weird). I love and appreciate the body. I don't mind people putting it on display.

message 1441: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (last edited Aug 11, 2013 11:50AM) (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh I've grown up seeing my fair share of family members bits and pieces on my mom's side of the family as it's a predominantly female side there. And even though I can admire the physical form, male or female in art, porn, or in just sexy situations. But I guess growing up in a situation where I never really had much opportunity to have my own privacy or always having someone else's nudity thrust upon me rather I was ok with it or not, is likely why something like this just ticks me off a bit with this woman.

I'll add too and I apologize ahead of time for being sexist or just even generalizing about the sexes here to the guys. But I always felt that the guys that always have their shirts off when it's not super hot or they haven't been working hard on something. Are pretty much attention whores in a way. Just showing off. Which I feel that we as women are kind of above behavior like that. Cause we don't really need to do something so attention seeking to stand out. Therein, making women going pointless. Sorry if that sounds super superior or anything Shari.

message 1442: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Not at all, you don't have to apologize. I understand that not everyone is gonna feel the way as I. Like I said though, theres a time and place for everything. I wouldn't mind seeing it at the beach, or a park, or some outdoor activities in warm weather. I see nothing wrong with that.

message 1443: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Ya know what would make it better? I think if they had like designated sections for it. Like how there is a smoking section in restaurants and what not. Why not have a section for folks that want to go topless in certain places. So even if the person is in the park, someone else can't say "My child was blinded by some saggy boobs" or something lol.

message 1444: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Ahaha saggy boobs!
Yeah I think that would be a good compromise. Having a designated nude area

message 1445: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments But I'm sure even with a particular section there are still some that would want to be even more open just because. But still not realistic.

message 1446: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassiemo9) | 818 comments Well in Europe, women go topless all the times at beaches. Also in saunas, both sexes will be naked. Nudity is very different there then here. I would raise the question of changing how American society views nudity. Being naked is viewed as a bad thing. I would also like to throw out there, what if it was a matriarchal society instead of patriarchal, would women be going around topless instead of men...just a thought.

message 1447: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Clearly I'm in the wrong country lol :-)

message 1448: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassiemo9) | 818 comments Be free Shari! hahahaha

There's actually a great story that goes along with European and nudity. So I was in The Netherlands and was watching a reality show. It is like the bachelorette except there's gay guys in the group and she has to weed out the gays. The challenge that week was to draw pictures of naked people...they had models...the camera angles OMG! The camera looked up the guys leg into his junk!!! I don't wanna see that! The dutch family I was with was laughing hysterically at me and called me a prude. hahaha I like to think I'm pretty open, but my American ways caught up.

message 1449: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Ahaha was there no censor!? Do they censor there!? Goodness I need to visit Europe asap :-P

message 1450: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassiemo9) | 818 comments No censor at all! You have to be careful at night, after 11 or so, the near naked commercials come on. It's almost a full frontal with a little piece of fabric over her vajayjay. All night! They don't censor anything.
