Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Ah so opting out of the goodies yourself during BBQ time but they still around. Sounds good. And honestly could be the hour, but deviled eggs are like boiled eggs right? Or are they pickled?

message 810: by Carlena, Pumpkin Pie/Care Bear (new)

Carlena | 1753 comments Deviled eggs are are eggs sliced in half after they are hard boiled and the yolk is mixed with mayo and mustard and lemon and then you fill the holes of the whites and sprinkle it with paprika

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Hi Girls, I am back...
I had a bit of a lurk yesterday but was too tired to actually type and then there was noone really online when I was so I thought I leave it at that for the time being. Saw my name mentioned once or twice. That is so sweet of you to think of me when I am not around. Love you all for it.

Carlena wrote: "How about what is the craziest thing you've ever done"

As a kid we used to slide down the corridor carpet with our house slippers. One day I had too much speed, didn't stop in time, tried to get the turn into the kids room (my brothers and I used to share a room) and hit my head savagely on the door frame. Jumped into the bed and pressed the pillow on the wound. Mom checked me out then took me to hospital where the doc said they would have me stiched up with two stiches in no time. He did 8!!! I counted them. Dad pulled the thread later as I did not want to see that lying doc again. Got a scar on my forehead to prove it.

And I did a skydive tandem jump and flew a little plane (was an intro flight to see if I would like to do that).

When I was a little tiny sperm cell I raced millions of others to be the first at the egg of my mom!!!

Broke into a not totally frozen lake and had to walk in winter in snow totally soaked back home.

Did the electrical thing. My doll house had a little lamp with a plastic shade and a little 6V bulb and smartarse that I am went to my brothers and asked what would happen if I plug a 6V bulb into the power point. Brothers are smartarsiger than me answered back:"TRY!"
So I unwound the cable and plugged it in. Sparks flew, the bulb was silver and the plastic shade burned and slightly melted. I was shocked but otherwise unharmed.

How did we survive our childhood???

never had deviled eggs either, we made mushroom eggs as fingerfood for parties. Hard boiled egg, either chop off the top and bottom so they stand up or only bottom, then put a drop of mayonaise on top, take "lids" of tomatoes (big tomatoe can get you at least two sometimes up to four lids - in the shape of a mushroom head) and put them on top and then decorade with drops of mayonaise. It is more for the eye than the stomach but I love them and they are easy to make.

Dhfan4life wrote: "New Question- What do you do to beat the heat during the summer?"

running around naked... Most of the time I am alone at home anyway and hubby doesn't mind. Otherwise since we are in our new home we have ducted a/c and well insulated walls. Ice cream (chocolate and vanilla) and an ice cold coke.

As for the age question: if I had started early I could be your moms ~wink, wink~!!!

message 839: by Tara (new)

Tara (amiel) | 36 comments I'm such a lurker! Making an effort to actually post more!

Summer heat - Mostly laugh at my dog. (She's a husky, anything over 20 has her sitting under an a/c vent behaving like a drama queen.) Naked is good. (Though I wouldn't have when I was still living with my parents!) I love to swim. I could live in the pool over summer.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Shari-amor wrote: "Haha only in front my momma. She's only gotten more comfortable with her body since she's gotten older. She's a very liberated woman"

Oh I have plenty of women in my mom's side of the family. And growing up I've seen more than my fair share of familial ta-ta's for sure lol. I guess my thing is that I want to re-GAIN some privacy now that I'm older. Cause I swear growing up all kinds of doors have been slammed opened, rooms barged in, and what not while I was growing up. Even had my dad give me the little "your growing up" talk when I first got my period when I was 9 as my mom wasn't there at the time. So yea, I've definitely shared more of moiself with the fam over the years for sure. Just want my own heinie to myself now lol.

message 841: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (last edited Jun 26, 2013 10:09PM) (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Old question-I'm beating the heat via fans, A/c and very light clothing as I suck down as many popsicles as I possibly can lol.

New Question- What's your take on the Paula Deen situation? If ya don't know what is up, she is being sued by one of the worker's in her restaurant for discrimination/use of the N word against other staff in one of her restaurants. As well as suggesting that catering staff for a wedding should be dressed up in a stereotypical Bo Jangles like style while serving guests.

message 842: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I'm sick of the story now. I didnt think anything of her before the story but I'll say this. I don't know why anyone was shocked she said it and even admitted it in her deposition. She's being put through a witch trial because she was truthful and for something she said in the past. That was her bad, her lawyers should of had her handled that better. I'm not shocked, pissed, sympathic or anything towards her. I also love how the woman suing her (a white woman at that), the comment wasnt even directed to her, I love how she lied and said she overheard the comment, I love how she's suing the brother for sexual harassment but the racial slur is what everybody is talking about. Paula's being condemned for saying something I know for a fact other people are too. Everybody discriminates and is biased about other races. Uses racial slurs out of context.

message 843: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments And since its the media, I don't believe a word of their story about whats going on. They twist everything to make the situation a lot worse then it is

message 844: by Jennifer (last edited Jun 27, 2013 02:10PM) (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments My Mom follows this story very closely. To my understanding Paula Deen and another woman were having a conversation about how things were in the old days and the inappropriate word was used in clarification because of confusion. In my opinion I think it sucks bc they let ppl get away with way worse (shouldnt they punish all ppl who do such things among worse things rather than just one person?) than that but they condemned her so bad for something that wasn't meant in a bad way O_o. Her shows are being pulled along with merchandise on the shelves, and her name in restaurants. This is just my opinion based on what I know about the situation tho. My Mother, however, refuses to watch that channel unless her show comes back LOL. I live in the deep south and the african american race where I live call themselves the word that Paula Deen used (where i live at least), for w/e reason its not considered an insult unless a different race says it to whoever here. It's similar with immigrant mexicans where I live as well tho... and I think I just went off topic rofl sorry.. -switches back to topic so there isn't a massive novel post-. Anyways, imo I don't think paula deen should be so harshly accused since what she said wasnt meant in a "bad" way. If it were then I would feel totally different about what happened.

Edit: post turned into a novel post anyways it seems e.e, sorry

Very, very true, Shari-amor

message 846: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I think thats harsh about so many companies are pulling away from her and her being fired. Its all getting out of hand.

message 847: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 1747 comments It really is

message 848: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Shari your thoughts over the Paula Deen situation reflects some of my mom's thoughts as well. Personally not having experienced being the N word ever. However I'm not a big fan of any one that uses the N word regardless of the context or skin color and also having liked Paula personally, I'm really of two minds about this. I hate all the backlash she is experiencing on the one hand. But at the same time, the use of certain words will always be a hot button and will have people on your case for using them. So I can see why the businesses are dropping her like a hot potato. But all the same though, I guess it's a really big lesson for her to really stop and make better choices of words when she says things. I mean I get some people say the N word in regards to bad people they have come across. But sometimes you just gotta call the jackass an ass and leave it at that.

New Question- So looks like they are nearly done casting for the 50 shades movie. That said, what OTHER books to movies, do you think shouldn't have happened?

message 849: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments 50 shades is being made a mocie!? o_O
But I thought that was s joke. Not funny haha, just not serious
