Regina | 2 comments Hi Ally,

I teach 7th grade Reading and I have gotten many of my students excited about this trilogy :) This question is from one of my students, Celeste: How did you come up with the technology you used in your books?

message 653: by Isis (new)

Isis | 1 comments Hi Ally, I love your books. Where did you get the idea? What is the secret to writing a novel. I love reading distopian novels.
Sincerely your number 1 fan,
Isis

message 654: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Ally,
I was wondering that when you were writing, did you listen to any music? Also, if you were Cassandra, which of the boys would you choose?
Your fan,
Amanda

message 655: by Amy (new)

Amy | 3 comments Hi Ally! :)

I was wondering how you managed your time when it came to writing your books. Did you have a schedule, or is it when an idea came to mind, you would go and write it out?

Also, when you write your books, do you plan out most events/plot before you begin writing or you go with the flow of how you want the story to go the moment you're writing it?

Thanks for your amazing books and attention (if you have read this!),

Amy

message 656: by Shakota (new)

Shakota | 1 comments Dear Ally,
I love your books! My 6th grade classmates and I love to read your books! I was wondering what made you think of the idea of the book? Who in your life inspired each character? And are you going to add on to the Matched trilogy? I love to read and write. Your writing has really inspired me to want to read and write more.
Your reader,
Shakota :)

Matched

It was really awesome hearing first hand from a best-selling (and one of my favorite) author.
All the best, from Australia

Meenakshi Dhamija | 1 comments Hi Ally,
I really loved Matched so much! Honestly my interest fell away in Crossed but Matched was so good!!!! I was wondering what made you think of this topic of a utopian society? Also if your book was being made into a movie, who would you want to be starring in it? Just curious! Thanks for your time!
Loving Book Worm,
Meenakshi D.

message 661: by Laura (new)

Laura Hello! thank you for doing this! I've enjoyed the series on audiobook. how do you feel about Audio books? how do they change your approach to writing? how much say do you have in how they are read?

message 662: by Danyelle (new)

Danyelle Briggs (danyellereads) | 1 comments Hi Ally,

Im Emma and I loved the entire series (Im on Reached now)honestly, was it hard when writing to capture how both Ky and Xander loved Cassia who loved them both? I mean I knew that the dystopian part of it had me hooked but was having love in the mix hard to write about? And was it Xander who put Ky into the matching pool? I thought about it because he loves Cassia yet he wants her to be happy.....

Thanks So Much, A Dedicated Fan
Emma

dreamer ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁݁·ꕤ (origami_cranes) | 1 comments Hi Ally,

I know you won't be answering anymore questions.. But I just wanted to let you know I loved your Matched Trilogy books. I was worried about how the series would end but I couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending. I was very happy with how you finished the book. I fell in love with all the characters throughout the book. I loved how to gave a happy ending to poor Xander also.

Also, the lines 'Tears well up but I blink them away. Because if there is one moment in my life I want to see clearly, this is it' are my favourite lines from everything I have read in my entire life. You are such a talented writer who can capture feelings of your characters so well. I could almost feel their emotions and I could relate to what the characters were going through.

I hope to read more masterpieces from you. All the best for your future.

A devoted fan,
Nimmy

message 666: by Elena (new)

Elena (LoverOfBooks5455) | 1 comments hello, Ally. I have read your book because I just simply adore science fiction mixed with romance.one of the things that I love about your characters is that you picked names that no one else could think of. they aren't "mainstream", if you understand me. really I do not have any questions to ask you because everyone else have asked everything and there is nothing left. I just wanted to say how much I love your series. you are very poetic, deep and you manage to surprise and shock me at every chapter. oh actually I do have 1 question - did you base your characters on the people in your life? I know that seems a little too personal but I am just curious and I apologize. I hope you will write more books like those ones and thank you so much for taking your time to read this letter.

Sincerely, Elena/Ellie

message 668: by Opala (new)

Opala | 1 comments Ally - I loved your book, Matched, because of Cassia's feeling trapped and yet itching to take a stand against society. I can relate to that on a lot of levels. Can you? Is that why you wrote this book? It really inspired me to rebel against The Man!

message 669: by Taylor (new)

Taylor When will there be MOVIES!?!?!?!

message 670: by Kelsie (new)

Kelsie (xkcpdx) Hiiii Ally,

1. What happens, in your mind, after Reached ended?
2. Many people have said that Crossed vseems insignificant and unneeded. Also very slow moving. What do you think about this? Why is Crossed needed instead of lengthening Reached (Harry Potter hits about 700 pages, a few more wouldn't hurt). Was Crossed included because of the "Trilogy Trend"?
3. Why are the books so large? Why are they different sizes?
4. What do you think about your trilogy compared to the Delirium trilogy.
5. Who is your favorite character? What is your favorite part of each book/whole trilogy?
6. DO YOU PLAN ON WRITING MORE BOOKS??????

-xoxoxo Kacy

If you lived in Oria do you think you would follow the rules or join the rebellion? What color dress would you wear to your matching ceremony?

message 672: by Inka (new)

Inka (ivankaph) | 1 comments Dear Ally,

I've read Matched, but I haven't read crossed, I can't seem to find that book anywhere in my country (I live in Indonesia). I want to ask you, whom do you think will make a great fit as Cassia, Ky, or Xander if there is going a movie? and have you ever had a writers block?

message 673: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn | 1 comments Dear Ally,

I am a twelve year old girl who is a huge fan of your books. I have read matched, crossed and am starting reached. I have a few question that I would love if you could answer. First, how did you come up with the names of the characters? (like: Cassia, Xander, Ky ect.) Second, how did you come up with the idea of a part of the world in which a society controls everyones life and try's to make everything perfect? If you could answer anyone of these I would be delighted.

Love, Marilyn Morales :D

message 674: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sandraselvasv) Hi Ally!! I'm thrilled to be on this group, I loved the Matched trilogy. Seriously, I got Matched when I was on a trip and I "missed" all the fun because I couldn't stop reading it... Totally worth it.

I'd like to ask you how did you come up with the names?

Who's your favorite poet? Because I love how you involved poetry into the trilogy.

Who would you choose?? Ky or Xander??

And also, thanks to your books, I want to name my daughter Cassia... If I ever have one of course!! Haha, I really hope you reply because you would make me so happy!!!

Greetings from Mexico!! xx
Sandra.

message 679: by Ellie (new)

Ellie | 1 comments Dear Ally-
I read the first book, Matched, this summer and instantly fell in love with the series. I was wondering though, what made you write about a Dystopian society? Also is there going to be a movie????

~Ellie

message 680: by Maryann (new)

Maryann Ferrara (maryannkf) Ally, I'm 12 and in 6th grade. I had a favorite book (a ghost book) then I read matched and thought of absolutely nothing else until crossed came out. These three books made me cry even in the not sad parts. When I read the last words of the last book I felt so bad that I could never read about Cassia's life again.
My question is, why did Ky never run away when he was young? He was brave enough to go, so why not? One more thing, I am writing a book and want to know if you think that 'Elemental: Comparable to the Great Forces of Nature' is an intriguing title.

message 681: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (godwithus) Dear Ally Condie,

What lead you to such a pure, exciting and action packed book? Where did all your ideas flow from? What made you want to write it?

Best Regards,
Caroline

I've read all the Matched books, but who put Ky in the Matching Pool? Where do they get the dresses? And finally who would you choose Xander or Ky?

Sincerly,

pennie,(1)if you read the book correctly putting ky in the matching pool was an experiment by the officials to see who would be his match if he was in it.and his (supposed to be) match was cassia.(2)they get the dresses from a sort of store for their matching ceremony as a one of a kind of dress.(3)totally ky! i mean who wouldnt!

message 687: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylor0916) | 3 comments Dear Ally,
I was wondering if you were going to be writing any more books than the ones you have? I suggest you write a dystopian society!

Hi my name is Michaela and I have read (and loved) all the Matched books. I have a few questions; as many have probably asked who put Ky in the matching pool? If you were Cassia who would you choose(Ky or Xander)? Lastly which book was the most fun to write? I would appreciate if you replied but thats ok if you don't have time, thank you.

Sincerely,
Michaela

message 693: by E - (new)

E - What made you choose to write a dystopian book? Was it something that just came to you or an idea that evolved over time into dystopia? Lastly, why did you finally decide that dystopian would by the right genre for Matched?

Yours,
Eleanor
