Adrienne! What an inspired pick for Tosca. I loved that book.

Yay! I am so excited. Since you are giving me a choice I am going to go with Dark Lover. Although, I gotta tell you, I will probably end up reading both. LOL!

message 53: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3905 comments Darkheart you have almost every vampire series listed in your shelves so I have to believe that you love these books. I think you need to branch out a little bit...how about a werewolf?

Wolf at the Door by Christine Warren

If you wish to continue reading vampire stories, I have 2 new authors for you to try:

Desire After Dark by Amanda Ashley
How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

All three of these are spectacular and currently sit on my keepers shelf. I hope you enjoy.

Challenge starts midnight of March 31st depending on which time zone you live...so yes, as soon as that clock struck 12:01..you can pick up a book..LOL

message 55: by Melody (new)

Melody (melos) Annie, wow, do we have some common interests! In fact, I've had a difficult time finding an author I think you'd like that you haven't already read. But maybe I've come up with something... :O)

I see you appreciate a good fairytale. One of my favorites is Gail Carson Levine'sElla Enchanted. (Please don't think its anything like the movie.)

Alternately, other of my favorites with a fairytale feel are Jane Yolan's Sister Light, Sister Dark or Mercedes Lackey's The Black Swan, both from authors it looks like you enjoy but haven't fully explored.

And now, just one more (sorry, I can't make just one recommendation!) in case you're really in the mood for romance on the high seas (yup, I noticed those salty stories on your shelves): Katie MacAlister's Blow Me Down. You really need to read more Katie. :O)

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine Sister Light, Sister Dark (Book One of the Great Alta Saga) by Jane Yolen The Black Swan by Mercedes Lackey Blow Me Down (Signet Eclipse) by Katie MacAlister
I hope you enjoy.

Amanda A | 769 comments Hi Mel,

My pick for you is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. This is the first in her YA fantasy series. I have really enjoyed this series so far.

My alternate pick for you is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in September!

I hope one of these picks will be something you enjoy.

message 57: by Amanda A (new)

Amanda A | 769 comments Thanks for the great picks, Kasia! I don't know if I'll have time for Lonesome Dove this month, but I'll definitely add to my tbr for the future. I will definitely read The Red Tent and look for Things Fall Apart at the library. Thanks again!

message 58: by Annvelwis (new)

Annvelwis | 671 comments Sheree,

My choice for you is Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I hope you'll enjoy it.

If you'd rather read historical : Master of Desire by Kinley MacGregor.

I hope you'll like one of these.

Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Master of Desire (Brotherhood/MacAllister Series, Book #1) by Kinley MacGregor

DH, terrific choices, both of them. I've been wanting to read Lara Adrian for the longest time, so I'll take her. Will order it tonight (it's already on my wishlist--great minds etc).

Thanks!

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Sarah, you have a fearsome Read list but I've trawled through it and found some possible gaps.

Marked by Moonlight (Moon Chasers, Book 1) by Sharie Kohler comes recommended by Kresley Cole at fantastic fiction, and since you seem to like her, I'm hoping you might also like her picks.

The other option is Runaways, Vol. 1 Deluxe Hardcover by Brian K. Vaughan . I think this edition is the bound one with the first five issues or sommat, but of course you can choose to read just the first one instead. I notice you like graphic novels and Manga, so you might enjoy this. The artwork can be a little hit and miss at times (particularly I think in the second volume), but the writing is really en pointe. Lots of funny pop culture speak, and doesn't take itself too seriously. Almost an anti-superhero book while being a superhero book. I really enjoyed it.

Have fun picking!

Lara,

I read the blurb and it sounded pretty different, so I'm intrigued. My library has it, so I've requested it. Looking forward to reading it.

Thanks.

Thanks muchly

message 65: by Sherrill (last edited Mar 31, 2009 06:17PM) (new)

Sherrill Tricia - After reviewing your list of books read and books to read (wow, I'm impressed), I decided on a light, quick read, keeping Seattle in mind, since I'm in the area and with a bit of a ghostly theme too.

My choice for you is:

Babe in Ghostland by Lisa Cach

message 66: by Glori (new)

Glori (divina) | 37 comments Hi Courtney:

We have very different taste which made picking a book very hard. I hope that you can enjoy the book.

I pick Light In Shadow (Jayne Anne Krentz) and as an alternate pick Once Bitten Twice Shy Jaz Parks Book 1 (Jennifer Rardin). Both stories are light fast reads.

message 70: by Sheree (new)

Sheree | 21 comments Hi Jodz,

message 72: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments MELODY : wow! You've read so much and I was mightily impressed by not just the quantity of items on your bookshelves but the wide range of fiction and the way in which you've categorised everything (can you tell I work in a library?) I've got a couple of choices for you to choose from - 2 paranormal romances and 1 general fiction:

One Bite With A Stranger by Christine Warren
Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

I've checked your shelves and didn't see these there BUT feel free t let me know if you've read them!

Barbara, I'm a sucker for an alpha shifter (see my obsessions with Curan, Adam, Clay, etc. LOL), so I'm jumping on your suggestion and have just placed Wolf at the Door in my shopping cart. Fun! =D

message 90: by Annie (new)

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) Hi Yz & Lori

Sorry guys! Been working out of my home city this week! Just came back to work and getting my head back into the groove...

Lori - for you I pick Scent of shadows by Vicki Pettersson. It's the first in a series. Heroine is a photographer who battles evil...

If you're struggling to find it... my second pick is
Alien taste by Wen Spencer. You had A brother's price on your shelves, but this was Wen's first novel.

Good luck! Let me know if you need more options.

I am so super excited about my choices. I went to B&N and both had to be ordered. They said both books "fly off the shelf". LOL! I think that is a good sign!

message 96: by Lori (new)

Hehe, tis the remnants of 6 years in a bookstore. I've always thought a library would be much better. :O)

So, I see the first 2 of your recommendations are for books from a series...will I have a problem (other than that vague feeling of panic I have when I don't start at the beginning) with jumping in in the middle? (Btw, they both sound Awesome!)

And thanks for the reminder with Curious , a friend recommended that long ago and I've somehow never gotten around to it.
