April - Pick It For Me!
Lori wrote: "Lara, it was so hard to decide for you because there are so many series that you haven't started yet! I know you like everything from YA to books that are a little on the steamy side...so I'm givi..."Yay! I am so excited. Since you are giving me a choice I am going to go with Dark Lover. Although, I gotta tell you, I will probably end up reading both. LOL!
Darkheart you have almost every vampire series listed in your shelves so I have to believe that you love these books. I think you need to branch out a little bit...how about a werewolf? Wolf at the Door by Christine Warren
If you wish to continue reading vampire stories, I have 2 new authors for you to try:
Desire After Dark by Amanda Ashley
How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
All three of these are spectacular and currently sit on my keepers shelf. I hope you enjoy.
Annvelwis,Challenge starts midnight of March 31st depending on which time zone you live...so yes, as soon as that clock struck 12:01..you can pick up a book..LOL
Annie, wow, do we have some common interests! In fact, I've had a difficult time finding an author I think you'd like that you haven't already read. But maybe I've come up with something... :O)I see you appreciate a good fairytale. One of my favorites is Gail Carson Levine'sElla Enchanted. (Please don't think its anything like the movie.)
Alternately, other of my favorites with a fairytale feel are Jane Yolan's Sister Light, Sister Dark or Mercedes Lackey's The Black Swan, both from authors it looks like you enjoy but haven't fully explored.
And now, just one more (sorry, I can't make just one recommendation!) in case you're really in the mood for romance on the high seas (yup, I noticed those salty stories on your shelves): Katie MacAlister's Blow Me Down. You really need to read more Katie. :O)
I hope you enjoy.
Hi Mel,My pick for you is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. This is the first in her YA fantasy series. I have really enjoyed this series so far.
My alternate pick for you is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in September!
I hope one of these picks will be something you enjoy.
Thanks for the great picks, Kasia! I don't know if I'll have time for Lonesome Dove this month, but I'll definitely add to my tbr for the future. I will definitely read The Red Tent and look for Things Fall Apart at the library. Thanks again!
Sheree,My choice for you is Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I hope you'll enjoy it.
If you'd rather read historical : Master of Desire by Kinley MacGregor.
I hope you'll like one of these.
DarkHeart wrote: "Okay, Moss, I've perused your lists and I've come up with two options for you.

DH, terrific choices, both of them. I've been wanting to read Lara Adrian for the longest time, so I'll take her. Will order it tonight (it's already on my wishlist--great minds etc).
Thanks!

Sarah, you have a fearsome Read list but I've trawled through it and found some possible gaps.
comes recommended by Kresley Cole at fantastic fiction, and since you seem to like her, I'm hoping you might also like her picks.
The other option is
. I think this edition is the bound one with the first five issues or sommat, but of course you can choose to read just the first one instead. I notice you like graphic novels and Manga, so you might enjoy this. The artwork can be a little hit and miss at times (particularly I think in the second volume), but the writing is really en pointe. Lots of funny pop culture speak, and doesn't take itself too seriously. Almost an anti-superhero book while being a superhero book. I really enjoyed it.
Have fun picking!

I read the blurb and it sounded pretty different, so I'm intrigued. My library has it, so I've requested it. Looking forward to reading it.
Thanks.
Jodz,Can you please add me as a friend so I can check out your TBR list, your profile is set to private :-(
Annvelwis, both choices sound good but I'm sticking with your first choice Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. :-)Thanks muchly
Tricia - After reviewing your list of books read and books to read (wow, I'm impressed), I decided on a light, quick read, keeping Seattle in mind, since I'm in the area and with a bit of a ghostly theme too. My choice for you is:
Babe in Ghostland by Lisa Cach
Hi Courtney:We have very different taste which made picking a book very hard. I hope that you can enjoy the book.
I pick Light In Shadow (Jayne Anne Krentz) and as an alternate pick Once Bitten Twice Shy Jaz Parks Book 1 (Jennifer Rardin). Both stories are light fast reads.
Courtney wrote: "Sherrill, My pick for you is Back to the Bedroom by [a:Janet Evanovich|2384|Janet Evan..."
I have it on order now from the library..should have it by the weekend. Thanks for the pick! :)
Thanks for the suggestions, Moss! I've read Runaways, so I'll be happy to try Marked by Moonlight! I just downloaded my copy.
Sheree,Ive just added you as a friend and set my profile to public =) I have no idea why I had it to private in the 1st place.
Hi Jodz,I can see by your bookshelf that you luurve paranormal so my pick for you is -
HeartMate by Robin D Owens (a psychically gifted population, futuristic romance)
& if that doesn't do it for you, how about
Forbidden Magic by Cheyenne McCray
Sarah wrote: "Thanks for the suggestions, Moss! I've read Runaways"
Ah sorry, how did I miss that? Hope you like Marked by Moonlight though. Looks pretty good.

MELODY : wow! You've read so much and I was mightily impressed by not just the quantity of items on your bookshelves but the wide range of fiction and the way in which you've categorised everything (can you tell I work in a library?) I've got a couple of choices for you to choose from - 2 paranormal romances and 1 general fiction:One Bite With A Stranger by Christine Warren
Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
I've checked your shelves and didn't see these there BUT feel free t let me know if you've read them!
Adrienne wrote: "Tosca:: had a look thru your reading list::sooo many books :):: anyway knowing the sort of books that * rock your boat* i think you may like *Cry to Heaven by Anne Rice* "Oohh Anne Rice! Spent 2 weeks in New Orleans and one of the totally touristy things I did was a tour of the Garden District...and stood outside her former home like a total hick LOL Looking forward to it!
Barbara wrote: "Darkheart you have almost every vampire series listed in your shelves so I have to believe that you love these books. I think you need to branch out a little bit...how about a werewolf? Barbara, I'm a sucker for an alpha shifter (see my obsessions with Curan, Adam, Clay, etc. LOL), so I'm jumping on your suggestion and have just placed Wolf at the Door in my shopping cart. Fun! =D
Tosca:: Hope you like it:)::i read it years ago::altho' i can't remember the finer details of the story::i can remember being touched by it:: hope you like it
Thanks Sheree =)I just ordered Forbidden Magic, I couldnt get the other one unless importing it which generally takes 1month which is no good to me hehe!
Lori,Let's give Annie a chance. She'll probably show up soon. I'm giving everybody until the 3rd to pick.
If she hasn't by then, I'll take care of you...LOL...I'm sure you have plenty of other books to play with, in the meantime...
Oh yea...I've got plenty to read LOL. I'm just always so curious to see what gets picked for me. *sigh* I'll try and be patient *hangs head in shame and shuffles off to the bedroom*
LOL..yes...Lori...go and pick one of your April challenge books..LOLThen time will fly and before you know it...you will have a recommended book...LOL
Glori:I totally had to have help picking your book so I apologize for the delay. So if you don't like it, blame Lara. But for you I pick Black Ice by Anne Stuart. I have never read it, but was told it was amazing. I hope you enjoy!
Jes

Sooo...if you guys haven't figured it out yet, Jes and I know each other. LOL! We are coworkers and friends. I told her about this site and when she joined I hounded her until she joined this group. LOL! I had books in common with Glori as Jes did not. So if Glori does not like the book I will take full responsibilty. LOL! Way to throw me under the bus, Jes. LOL!

Thanks Melody! I've read a couple Katie's and Levine's - but not Ella Enchanted.
I promise - over this month I'll try and update my shelves!
Hey, Annie.Lori is impatiently waiting for you selection for her. I actually have to calm her down...LOL...so when you are ready....
Hi Yz & LoriSorry guys! Been working out of my home city this week! Just came back to work and getting my head back into the groove...
Lori - for you I pick Scent of shadows by Vicki Pettersson. It's the first in a series. Heroine is a photographer who battles evil...
If you're struggling to find it... my second pick is
Alien taste by Wen Spencer. You had A brother's price on your shelves, but this was Wen's first novel.
Good luck! Let me know if you need more options.
Tricia wrote: "Wow it was difficult to choose for you Annvelwis lol, you have read ALOT of books! heheI did manage to find one though!"
Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's 2.24 am, I just finished reading and I fell in love with The Darkest Night. You chose wonderfully. I'm already looking for next book in the series, heh.
Mel, both sound terrific. I've been meaning to read something by Nalini Singh as there are great comments on GR regarding this author.I will read Angel's Blood and if I have time, also Slave to Sensation. Thanks for the recommendations.
Lara wrote: "Jes wrote: "Glori:I totally had to have help picking your book so I apologize for the delay. So if you don't like it, blame Lara. But for you I pick [b:Black Ice|24248|Black Ice (Ice Series, Bo..."

They said both books "fly off the shelf". LOL! I think that is a good sign!
Thank you Annie! They both sound great. My library has The Scent of Shadows so that's the one I've picked.
Lori wrote: "Thank you Annie! They both sound great. My library has The Scent of Shadows so that's the one I've picked."Good luck! Hope you enjoy it!
Darkheart, I ordered Kiss of Midnight yesterday and it should be with me by next week. I can't wait!
tosca wrote: "MELODY : wow! I've always thought a library would be much better. :O)
So, I see the first 2 of your recommendations are for books from a series...will I have a problem (other than that vague feeling of panic I have when I don't start at the beginning) with jumping in in the middle? (Btw, they both sound Awesome!)
And thanks for the reminder with Curious , a friend recommended that long ago and I've somehow never gotten around to it.
