I write F/F (which seems to make me unusual), but if I had to absolutely be specific I would say that my stories are more character-driven than plot-driven. I do what my characters tell me to do, and they always give me a plot, setting, conflict, and resolution. I like doing something different with each one. So one character might be a shy girl while another book might be about a grouch. It's fun to try on the different personas. :)
Hello Joann and Katherine. Glad to have you with us. Please add your books to the appropriate bits of the group and tell us a bit about them. :)
Sorry for the late response. For some reason Goodreads notifications have started to go into spam! Good old gmail.

Hi, Elin! I know what you mean! Same thing happened to me with Gmail. Lately half of my messages are going there. *sigh*

I write gay erotic paranormal fantasy, so you might be wondering what I'm doing here :)
Readers tell me they like to read my books as they can bond with the men in my novels, and find the plot intriguing as well. I will not try to hide that my works tend to have a lot of sensual scenes in them but they always advance the events and insight into a man's thoughts and emotions is often more important than what goes where ;)
But the main reason why I joined is not to toot my own horn. I like Elin's and Jessie's writing and am sure I will discover some more great stories on the bookshelves of this group.

Thank you, Ciaran.

Looking forward to adding some good books to my TBR list.

What a good idea for a group! I'm looking forward to reading the recommendations here.
I write lesbian stories that have suspense, intrigue, romance and darker elements too.
My latest After Mrs Hamilton is on offer at 0.99. Readers have loved its twists and turns and it's had great reviews including this one at C-Spot reviews.

My novels do have have sex scenes and they always drive plot or character development.

I have just finished writing a serial novel that's lgbtqa (bi-orientation, f/f orientation, although I have a couple of secondary characters who are m/m) and the first two parts are out. This novel represents my efforts to push through my inhibitions about writing about sex as well as writing a main character who is bi. I do think it's more plot and character driven than sex driven, though! Maybe if someone here ever reads it you can let me know if you agree, and then I'll post it to the group bookshelf.

Hi HJ :) You've listed some of my favourites too. Looking forward to seeing your recommendations.

All my books fit this group; they're all lesbian fiction with absolutely no sex scenes. In fact, most of my books aren't romances (though most, but not all, have romantic elements).
I also like to read stories with lesbian main characters but no sexual content. I prefer stories where the main character just happens to be lesbian, rather than stories that focus on LGBT issues.
I'm looking forward to checking out books that fit my reading taste (lesbian main character(s), no sexual content).

This group, however, looks excellent! And just so happens to, I think, apply to my book: Kostas
It had sex scenes, but I ended up cutting them (and putting them up free-to-read on my website, with a bunch of other stories I wrote to get to know the world and my characters: jcstryker.com. It was a pretty tough decision to make. And despite having written sex scenes, as a reader, I still mostly skip them (I suppose that means I'm more nosey than lusty? Bring on the plot!)
My book is still pretty romance heavy, m/m, fantasy - actually it's light on the fantastic as well; no magic, only a new world! I'm terrible at genre-identification, I suppose. It was definitely about the plot for me, though, and hopefully for the readers, too :)
Anyway, glad to be here, and I look forward to seeing where this group goes.

I'm new to Goodreads, so still finding my way around. I didn't realise this would be a writers group when I joined up, but that's okay as I write too but not with GLBT leads so far.
One of the things that brought me here was my discovery of such an amazing amount of new GLBT reading material - and yes, I have found more than my fair share of meaningless sexfests which are great as long as they are marketed as such.
I joined this group hoping for recommendations for more plot driven reads like A Life Apart or GhosTV (the PsyCops Series).

Just discovered this group through a reviewer of a book I just released (below). I'm fairly new to the m/m publishing world, though there's plenty of m/m plotting in my daily life. (We'll keep that offline, though.) I do see a few names I know - writers I admire. I look forward to getting to know everyone here.
My first book is called The Hollywood Version, and it's at http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/stor...

I read mainly Historical m/m with occasionally a zest of Mystery or a pinch of Paranormal or Fantasy and lately I've added some Sci Fi ... I choose to read a book because the story, or something in it, just caught my eye. I'm all for a good plot, interesting characters, a story that will touch me and make me react one way or another ... it doesn't bother me if there is little or no sex, I prefer a lot of sexual tension rather than sex itself. I've always trusted my imagination to do its job and with the right story and words it can be simply magical! English is not my native language, forgive me for any clumsiness or mistakes!
*^_^*

I just realized I'd never introduced myself. I write m/m romance. I used to say I write erotic romance but lately I've realized that anyone coming to my books looking for sex will be disappointed - it's there, but it's certainly not the dominant trope. So now I just say I write romance. My guys tend to be complicated grown-ups and the plots arise out of their struggle to make sense of their world and to find someone they can share it with.

Hello new people. I'm so sorry I haven't replied to you individually. For some reason my Goodreads notifications have been going to spam! I thought it was quiet in here.
Feel free to post your own books in the appropriate genre sections. Also please recommend other authors books that you have enjoyed. Authors are usually avid readers as well as writers.

There's such a rush of "I've come home!" going to my head at finding this group that I'm seeing stars. I love a good plot, but my real deep passion is for characters who feel real to me; characters who are well-rounded and realistic, and whose sexuality is *not* all they're about.
I write traditional science fiction in which the main protagonists are gay, but the stories don't meet what appears to be the standard definition of m/m romance as seems to be expected - there is some infidelity, there are het relationships for both protagonists, there isn't a lot of sex, in some books there is no sex, in one of the books they don't even meet, the potential for their happy ending comes at the end of book *six*... Finding the right category to market it will be interesting.
The first book is currently out on submission, so in the meantime I self published a short novella with the first chapter of the Shield stories as a taster (although that's been revised now. I should really reissue it). If you're interested, you can find FlashWired from the links at my website here.
