Geli | 18 comments I'm searching for a book I've read as a child (around 2002 probably). It was in the Sciene Fiction Genre.

It was about a boy named Fix/Fitz(?) with a talent in empathy/telepathy. The book started on some kind of market with aliens and I think cages? ...He leaves the planet he grew up on pretty soon.
Also, he's an orphan, and over the book becomes hunted for his talent. There are hints that he might not be fully human, because only an ancient race had previously these brainwaves.
His hunters want him so that he can activate some kind of machine/super computer with his talent (though that could've been in a later book, I think).
As far as I remember he also a small dragon-like creature as a companion. A wyvern I think, that could fly... not sure anymore.

The author was male.
Intended age range: Probably 12-16?

Any ideas what book this could be? :)

_For Love of Mother-Not_, Alan Dean Foster is the first one in the series, the second novel has more of the alien connection/turn on the machine to control/destroy the galaxy.

Also, if you're reading/like the Commonwealth society (that the novels are set in), I recommend _Nor Crystal Tears_

Also, when you're done with this post, select the title, and move it to the folder 'Solved' :)

And dang Sue, I thought I'd hit this first - didn't see your post.
