Anil (loykalina) | 303 comments I am aggrieved that I will only be able to spank my friend virtually.

You are absolutely about trusting in one report. He should be spanked for that. What I wanted to say was that the report, which was published by International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, was not/ is not negative altogether, bearing in mind it is only one single report. 20% of the population in poverty is indeed quite high. Still, it could be considered that the inequality of income was getting better if, a big if, it marked the lowest gap between groups.

What my friend thinks is that Israel is suffering from poverty because the title of the report, 'Poverty in Israel Still a Major Problem', suggests so. That is wrong.

Anil (loykalina) | 303 comments I am angry with myself that I hit the send button before explaining myself better. I am on my phone, so I can't edit my posts.

What I mean with '[t]hat's wrong' is that my friend makes the usual mistakes. First of all, he just reads the title, but does not read what the report (actually it is only this paragraph I quoted above) says. Of course 20% is quite a high number, one in five, but that number doesn't suggest that whole or majority of the country is in poverty. Secondly, he forms his point of view on a matter reading only an article. He is a university student and should know better.

You might wonder why this article popped out in our discussion. I suggested him to read books and articles to challenge his partner's views. I think he felt insulted because I suggested he didn't read enough and he gave me the link of the article he read. He says he dislikes talking about politics. Anyway, he is just 21 and he will eventually learn that he can't avoid politics in any part of his life.

Tj (bluesmokey) | 632 comments I am happy aggrieved that I don't have to serve on a jury. That case would have been difficult to remain impartial (domestic violence). Still I was a "good girl" and was truthful and would have served with as open a mind as possible.

Ijeoma,

Dumb jock here has very moist eyes but...ok tear. Maybe more than one.

Our Savior who said ask and you shall receive I am asking that you give Ijeoma's mother what she needs. I ask that she will blessed with whatever is best for her now. I ask that if she cannot continue that she be taken to your Glory in the place that you went to prepare for us. I pray that you now remember only what is good and right and perfect in her love for you so that you will bring her to you with joy everlasting.

I ask that you comfort and give solace to her family as they face this time in her and the life to come. It is difficult for us being human to understand that nothing is gone; her love and goodness remains forever—it will not and cannot ever be taken away from them. I ask that you provide the understanding that only you can give to console her children and grandchildren and all her loved ones.

As Saint Julian of Norwich has written I know her words are true:

As truly as God is our Father,
So just as truly is God our Mother.
In our Father, God Almighty, we have our being;
In our merciful Mother we are remade and restored.
Our fragmented lives are knit together.
And by giving and yielding ourselves,
through grace, to the Holy Spirit,
we are made whole.

It is I, the strength and goodness of Fatherhood.
It is I, the wisdom of Motherhood.
It is I, the light and grace of holy love.
It is I, the Trinity,
It is I, the unity.
I am the sovereign goodness of all things.
It is I who teach you to love.
It is I who teach you to desire.
It is I who am the reward of all true desiring.

All shall be well, and all shall be well,
and all manner of thing shall be well.
Amen.

Yes, Anil, I certainly hope so. Mine had been going steadily downhill since my Dad died in 2011. After 60 years together, it's difficult to go on. Still, she got to meet, albeit in pictures, her one and only great grand child, my grand daughter.

I am so angry that anti-gay-marriage homophones homophobes mistakenly voted to pass the gay marriage legislation because it would have passed anyway in the birthplace of the Marquis de Lafayette honorary US citizen and American patriot who through his exceptional service as a Major General in the American Revolution became an honorary US Citizen.

Nevertheless for this American warrior's sake who help us to defeat our most beloved British brothers and sisters, I am happy that now LGBT frog-eating, same-gender couples may marry.

Goesta-tush,

I regret the density in the air. I was trying to be glad that gay marriage was legalized in that country that our great America Patriot the Marquis was born in because I do not want to dignify the place by mentioning its name.

Yes while we were miffed with King George for his taxing without giving representation we had no quarrel with our most dear British loved ones whom we and the great Marquis began killing in our wee commotion back in 1776, Still we remained good Anglophiles even after they made a little bon fire using our White House as wood in 1812. So we stand side by side with our British cousins as we stick out our tongues and aim in the general direction of the dirt across the English Channel.

We love the English Channel because it gives us Dr. Who and other great TV shows. It's just too bad the BBC does not use American subtitles so we could understand what they are saying on all those other shows.

Yeah, that's tough, innit. Shouldn'a fought'em off with sticks like that back then, you'd be speaking real English now, not that hayseed mush.

I do enjoy sticking out my tongue at them Frenchies Fries, too. They taste like creamy mayonnaise, whereas them Ameercans, tomato-flavoured water.

For all of you that have lost parents and loved ones, please google or however you research music: John Tavener, Song For Athene.
It is quite beautiful and full of joy at the end. Although not written for her, it was performed at Princess Diana's funeral.

Fangtasia Goesta wrote: "I mentioned elsewhere that my father passed away 2010, suddenly, when I wasn't there. While I pray that this is not your mom's time yet, I hope you get to spend it together."

That is horribly painful, so sorry Master G, that this happened to you.

I had the privilege of being with both my Mom and Dad when they passed. Not actually there when it happened, because they were in the Intensive Care Unit at hospital and passed away outside of visiting hours, but I did get to see them both a few hours before. And was able to tell them repeatedly how much I loved them, I got to say goodbye.

It's a strange feeling, knowing that with them gone, my sister and I are the ones next in line. We are the "old ones" now. Funny, I don't feel old.

@Macky, thank you for your kind words. It's nature's way, but it takes getting used to anyway.

@Roger, please receive my condolences on your loss. No matter how long ago. Time does help blur the bad memories and cement the good ones. Our loved ones are never gone if we still remember them, right?

That's true indeed. As Lucas knows, my partner Oliver painted my father from a photograph and me when I was 15 or so, as the characters on the cover of the YA Avenging Khartoum, which was a moving image.

Roger wrote: "...As Lucas knows, my partner Oliver painted my father from a photograph and me when I was 15 or so, as the characters on the cover of the YA Avenging Khartoum, which was a moving image."

Yep. I even posted the cover for Avenging Khartoum the Complaint Department section a while back on Artists Self Promotion to show off Zack's artistry. I'm reposting it here for convenience.

The only difference is Roger's father didn't have a mustache and was much more handsome without one. Damn he was one good looking fellow, tall and trim and fit.

Another cover by Zack (Roger's life partner Oliver Frey) is this one from Roger Kean's Young Adult book Avenging Khartoum. It is a particular favorite of mine because of the extremely handsome British gentleman in background and next to him his very attractive, brilliant and heroic son.

Macky (mactut) I'm posting a complaint because I've just heard that my lovely Goesta has just met up today for a coffee with my other lovely friend Mark and I wasn't there!! Harrumph! Oh well at least I'll be meeting Mark at the Manchester m/m meet in July. Wish more of you guys would be there in a very complaining way of course.

JustJen "Miss Conduct" (just_jen) I'd like to complain about all the sadness in the complaints lately. My thoughts are with all of you struggling with loss and/or pain, and I look forward to the day when we can all be posting more mindless and silly ones instead.

I have to complain about this news story in a local newspaper here in Manhattan. I regret that this happened New York City's gayest neighborhood, the West Village.

Butt-dial Con Feels the Pinch
By JAMIE SCHRAM, JESSICA SIMEONE

An ex-con was busted for stealing an iPhone when it started ringing — while stashed up his butt in a holding cell at the West Village station house, sources told The Post yesterday.

Trent Patterson, 47, had initially been arrested for allegedly burglarizing the trendy Ted Baker clothing boutique in the Meatpacking District at around 5:50 a.m. Friday, along with four other suspects, the sources said.

A food vendor had spotted the five allegedly going in and out of the shop with armfuls of clothing and accessories. The vendor called cops, and all five suspects were quickly nabbed.

Then, as Patterson was in a holding cell at the Sixth Precinct station house, a 27-year-old man whose iPhone had been swiped used an app to track the device, according to the sources.

The victim, who was at the station house to report the theft, called his phone — and heard the ring coming from Patterson in a nearby cell.

When an officer confronted Patterson, the career criminal admitted that he’d hidden the phone up his butt and retrieved it, the sources said.

Lucas, the prayer was beautiful. Just another reason why I think Tom must be a lucky guy and why we all think you are crazy when you go on about being a dumb jock.

And even though I know I will be accused of spreading girl cooties (I can't help it, I'm a girl!), I regretfully MUST tell a related story about putting things in orifices that they really shouldn't be in. My first OB/GYN (the girl-only doctor for those who may not know) told me that once when he was working the ER, a woman came in with extreme abdominal pain and upon internal examination, they found a large bag of heroin "up there." She said she had no idea how it got there :-0
