Book Portrait | 4 comments Goethe's Faust series (Fragments, Ur-Faust, Faust I, Faust II) has been deleted.

X updated the series:
removed series: Goethe's Faust
Feb 05, 2013 05:49pm (#50289397)

Can it be restored?

NB: the librarian who deleted this series has been trying to create other series but only creates separate series for each book...

Nope.

I've renamed his version of the series to the same old name.

Can you add the other books to it?

EDIT: I'll PM him to stop creating imprint series
EDIT 2: he has a private profile so I'll flag him.

Book Portrait | 4 comments Thanks. I added the books I found and a Wikipedia description (hope that’s ok).

But there’s a problem with the main Faust book page: the top book (Faust) is Faust I (English-German) but most other editions on that book page are Faust I&II. There’s a separate Faust: Part One book page. And to complicate things, that top book has more 25,000 ratings…

Yuk. It happens. Last year someone managed to combine most Faust editions into one:

I don't know if we have a Faust expert. Are you a Faust expert?

Book Portrait | 4 comments Sorry, not a Faust expert. I just happen to have that version of Faust I German-English, and a couple of versions of Faust I&II - which is how I noticed the problem.

Just from the titles, descriptions and book covers I can untangle some of the smaller obvious mis-combinations but I wouldn't know how to move that top book to the correct book page without messing with a ton of people's shelves (I think it requires librarian superpowers I don't have!).

message 6: by vicki_girl (new) - added it

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Not an expert either, but the cover clearly indicated that it is only Part 1. I updated the title and separated, using the separate tool (that's the only practical way to separate out the most popular edition). I also spotted several other Part 1's mixed in there and moved those over too.

Nice. When I have a potentially long moment I'll have a go at them.
