So, after finishing Robert Harris' excellent book, Pompeii, I've definitely been in a mood to read more historical fiction. While I'd prefer recommendations set in Pompeii, any HF novel that features volcanic disaster- Knossos, etc.- would be fantastic. Thoughs? Recommendations?

My series (only the first two are available as of today, but the third will be released soon, within a month or two) takes place on Bronze Age Crete and involves the Thera eruption. It's not pure historical fiction however, containing elements of fantasy.
Rebecca, I've been meaning to get hold of your Child of the Erinyes series for some time! Now that I know it deals with the Thera eruption, I'll buy the first one on Amazon as soon as I get paid.
The Fires of Vesuvius: Pompeii Lost and Found is excellent, and I recommend it; but it's non-fiction.One of Saylor's Gordianus the Finder books is set in Pompeii (long before the eruption, though). Think it's Arms of Nemesis, which is the second in the series.
I have a real thing for volcanoes also. I really enjoyed Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded but it isn't really fiction. Years ago I read The Volcano Lover: A Romance which definitely is Historical Fiction. This was a learning curve for me since it used a number of characters that I was not familiar with at the time, like Pliny the Elder & Pliny the Younger.

Don't know if you're into historical romance, but you might try The Volcano Lover: A Romance by Susan Sontag
Mt. Vesuvius is the erupting menace in this novel, set in Italy in the late 18th century. Surprised me to see Susan Sontag as the author!
