Just started this & was shocked but fascinated. I don't usually read a lot of non-fiction but your post and the fact I've read all (?) the Pitt series made me search out the bio.

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Currently listening to A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara ; the combination of grim and long have me bogged down but it got a lot of 5 star reviews so I persevere.

I loved Blue Highways -- I read it years ago and should read it again!

Lauren (laurenalism) | 4 comments Hi all! I was on vacation last week and decided to finally tackle Atlas Shrugged. I've been surprised by how quickly it went, for how long it is. I also liked how the layers of mystery unfolded, and how tight the story stayed. It was definitely interesting, and made me think of parallels between present day and 60+ years ago. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Elaine Cook | 28 comments I'm listening to Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, another book I've been struggling to finish. For certain my next read will be lighter!

Katherine | 103 comments I just finished reading Anne Tyler's Vinegar Girl. It was a quick cute read. This is an updating of Taming of the Shrew, part of the Hogarth Shakespeare Series, and I thought it was really well done. Next to come out is Margaret Atwood's Hag-Seed the Tempast retelling.

Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler Hag-Seed (Hogarth Shakespeare) by Margaret Atwood

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Started Maisie Dobbs first in a new series/author for me; very good and I was ready for something less weighty.

message 58: by Elaine Cook (new)

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Will definitely look up more in the Maisie Dobbs series.
Just started Haunted Ground which was a recommendation from Alexandria Library (name 5 books you like & get 5 recommendations). Grabbed me right away, so good job!

Ross2075 | 8 comments I'm almost finished reading The Fireman. I've enjoyed it. Fun read.

Joe Hill is Stephen King's son and I think in this book some of his father comes through. It has elements similar to The Stand but is more fun. Very well written and fun. It gets to a point where you can't put it down.

Elaine Cook | 28 comments just finished The Search for Anne Perry very well done.

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Just finished Haunted Ground, which is one of the recommendations from the website (tell us 5 books you liked...). I did like it, so good job. I found the next book in the series, but started The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag instead. I'm a big fan of the Flavia de Luce series.

Lane Stone | 9 comments I'm a fan of the Flavia de Luce audiobooks. The narrator, Jayne Entwistle, is great.

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Just put the audio on hold. Meanwhile, e-read at bedtime.

Elaine Cook | 28 comments Just finished The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge, not my cup of tea. Currently listening to The Angel Court Affair. I have not read any of the Monk series but have them on my list to try as I seem to prefer the earlier Pitt novels for the earlier historic period.

Sandra | 22 comments Hi, I just discovered this group. I'm looking forward to connect with people from this area. I moved here 1 1/2 years ago. Originally I'm from Germany but I lived in the states before. Right now I'm reading "Dare Me" by Megan Abbott which gives more of a dark inside view of cheerleading and girls friendships. Very unique writing style. I was surprised to find this in the adult section but I can see why....

Now I'm listening to another on the list Where'd You Go, Bernadette, which I really liked. Whoever made the selections is batting a thousand!

G.M. (gmmalliet) | 3 comments I'm re-reading the Golden Age of Mystery by Martin Edwards. Because I'm going to be on his panel at Bouchercon and his knowledge is scary.

Camilla A | 5 comments Amy Poehler's "Yes Please", Terry McMillan's "I Almost Forgot About You" (she's speaking at the upcoming Baltimore Book Festival", Michael Chabon's "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" and "Manhood for Dummies", and N.K. Jemisin's "The Obelisk Gate (The Broken Earth, Book #2)

Margot (margotsmuse) | 2 comments I'm currently reading The Limehouse Text by Will Thomas

message 74: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 22 comments Nice to see this thread come alive again. I'm reading "The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Its a Young Adult Fantasy story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights. So far I only heard praises about this book from my friends list. While the world building is not bad overall its honestly kind of a slow read for me so far...(I'm at page 153).
