Khrisma M. So Kiera Cass left us on another cliffhanger. XD I for one expected more out of this book when I heard about it. I was socked to see that America and Maxon had such a bratty daughter >.< But I learned to love her and her flaws in time but not enough since the book ended when I finally did start liking her. But anyways about that WTF ending with Ahren eloping and America having a heart attack and not knowing if she'll live or die. Truthfully the way they kept talking about how old Maxon looked I thought if anyone died it would be him not poor America.

What do you think will happen next if/when Cass makes the next book?

Really if Cass has the guts to actually kill America I think I would hate and love that.

Felicia Lucky you were able to like Eadlyn by the end of the novel. For me I was completely over her. I agree, considering Maxon and America I too was shocked at how bratty, and selfish Eadlyn is.
Ahren's eloping wasn't too shocking. Especially after Eadlyn went to "talk" to him. I was happy that he eloped. But it was meant to just shock the readers into like "Oh but how could he?!" and then turning around and hitting them with America having a heart attack who is a long standing character in the series and is somewhat beloved.

I am curious if she will kill America off. Though if this novel is only set 20 years in the future from where The One left off; America having a massive heart attack and keeling over is supremely unlikely.

The next installment is suppose to be the ending to the series. Which means Eadlyn's selection will come to a close. I suspect we will see Erik as the individual she ends up with. Mainly because of their interactions, and how shocking it would be since he was not officially a part of the selection process.

Ahren's..."

I don't really like Eadlyn as a person, but I can see her motivations as a character. You can see how she'd be bratty; I mean, she's a princess. Heir to the the throne and all that. And she doesn't have Maxon's crappy parents stopping her from being spoiled. (Not that this is a bad thing).

Well, America's family does have a history of heart problems. And we don't know how advanced medical care is in this series.

I don't know if Erik will be the Selected, but I certainly hope so. And judging on the original series, Cass tends to make her choice pretty likable from the start. I guess that means there's a good chance.

I can understand that. But even so, her brothers don't seem to be bratty and self-centered like Eadlyn was. I just don't think she understands humility and humbleness.
I'm not sure Maxon's parents would have been of much help considering Maxon's father's past, and the fact that he used to beat Maxon.

All very true regarding medicine.

Also true! Cass does tend to do that. The way this novel is set-up it leaves me thinking it will be either Erik or Kile.

Really Eadlyn reminds me of Celeste in the first book where barely anyone like her bratty overconfident self. I actually wish Ahren was the Heir, he certainly is kinder or even Kaden because he's smart. I really don't know what Eadlyn has to offer as a ruler besides stubborness.

I agree about Erik or Kile. A small part of me wants Ean just because he had the balls to tell her he doesn't want her and he would let her rule the country without getting in her way. But really I like Erik, they seem to have more chemistry.

Felicia @Kris I really liked Ean for those reasons as well! I think they would make an interesting couple. Though there were times I couldn't help but wonder what other agenda he may have. Simply because I don't wholly trust him.

I also wish Ahren was the heir. Not only that but Eadlyn resents Ahren for being born after her. Just think about how many references she makes to their order of birth. He seems to be more even keeled and kind and informed about what is going on. Even Kaden seemed to have a better grasp of what was happening in Illea and politics than Eadlyn was. Not to mention he taught himself because he wanted to learn not because it was expected of him.
Which is not something I can say of Eadlyn.

Khrisma M. I sooo agree with you. That's why I think if Cass actually killed America it would defintely help with Eadlyn's character development.

Ilana i think that we've seen that Cass certainly kills off characters unexpectedly, but not at a point where they make the story impactful. when we saw the mains die in the first series, it was at a point where while they would be missed, they were done making their impression. here, i think that America still has a lot that she could share w/ her daughter, especially about her own experience since that's something that keeps coming up. that Eadlyn didn't know what her parents went through.

as for the ending, i think that it'll be Kile - while i think that there's something there with Erik, i think that there will be a great friendship there, and that he's going to be a good help to her in the way that the italians were a great help to America. another nation backing her and proving some level of help whether needed or not.

i think that there's going to be something BIGGER though happening with the Ahren story line - now that he's eloped, it's going to make the nation wonder why their royal son has left them for France and if the Rebels weren't making things tough already, it would certainly become worse now since the nation seemed to like him more than his sister. we'll have to see what comes of that.
