I'm starting this week with Fear You by B.B. Reid and Family Secrets by Kasey Millstead.

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments I'm just finishing Kelly Bowen's A Good Rogue is Hard to Find. It's merely okay for me, therefore not recommended unless you like improbable things in your Historical Romances. For example, in Chapter 1, Hero's Mother has a pet python named Philip. Ugh, yeah, righto... and Hero does not immediately kill it. It's 1816, folks! Pet pythons are not cool at that time!

Funny - Susan :-)

I'm reading The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan. Liking it MUCH more than the first one.

I didn't like the look of the first one but really liked the look of The Friend Zone. Do you think I could skip the first one without too much grief?

I was planning on starting Family Secrets by Kasey Millstead, but I've got Zack by Sawyer Bennett staring at me..so looks like that's what I'm gonna read instead. Love me some hockey hunks!

message 10: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (staceyissassy) I've heard good things about Zack. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm really tempted to miss the first one and go straight to The Friend Zone, but I'll see what Manda says :-)

Thanks, Stacey. I've been wanting to read Zack for a while now :) You should be able to read TFZ no prob. You may see a few peeps from The Hook Up, but I don't think you'll be missing much.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 320 comments I'm reading Jennifer McQuiston's Diary of an Accidental Wallflower (Seduction Diaries, #1) by Jennifer McQuiston . Set in 1848 London, unlikely romance (?) between a young woman who's set her cap on a duke's heir and a physician of Romany descent. I'm enjoying it so far, especially the observations about the fickle whims of the rich.

I just finished Not Always a Saint, an August 25 release. It is the last of Mary Jo Putney's Lost Lords series. I've enjoyed the full series, and this one is a favorite. I loved the beta hero who is paired with a Wicked Widow. Today I'm reading Marilyn Pappano's A Promise of Forever (June 30), the next in her Tallgrass, Oklahoma series. All the Tallgrass books pack a strong emotional punch.

Sorry for the late reply! GR wasn't sending me notifications that I'd had replies. :(

Yes, I think you can skip the first one and go into The Friend Zone without trouble. I don't know if it was me, but the first one was just...opaque in it's writing style. I don't know how else to describe it. But I just had a hard time connecting to any of the characters. Not so with TFZ.

And, re: Zack, I'll be curious to hear what you guys have to say about it.

I stayed up Way passed my bed time reading Zack. I kept goin back and forth between 3 or 4 stars and ended up giving it 4. I loved Alex and Garrett's hea, Zack just fell a bit short for me.

Thanks Manda my lovely :-) ♥

Okie, Zack is the one where his wife/partner dies and he falls for the nanny? I'm not sure I want to read it. 4 months seems a really short time to grieve.

Yea, that's the one Stacey. I don't wanna give too much away for those that are or want to read it, but that relationship wasn't all it was made out to be. With that said I understand why there was such a short "grieving period". I really liked Zack and Kate together. They meshed well for me :)

I'm still on the fence. I might read it down the track :-)

I had issues with Zack. Thought it might be just me, because it's a trigger for me (marrying too soon after being widowed). But there was something else couldn't put my finger on. I started to say it might just not feel as joyful as the first two books, but it's not like those weren't dripping with angst (I mean the heroine has freaking cancer in the second one!). I dunno. So I ended up giving four stars instead of five. I totally wanted to love it though. I just couldn't.

Don't want to discourage you, Stacey. But, you did ask!

This sort of discussion is great. I would have been more peeved if I'd gone in blind. If I know what I'm dealing with beforehand I can handle it better. I'm one of those dreaded people who actually look for spoilers in reviews :-) ♥

Exactly, Manda. Something was missing. I really liked the little bit of Zack we saw in Alex, and he seemed So In Love with Gina. Then we find out whats goin on and the whole thing just didn't sit well with me. I'm actually thinking four stars is a bit generous for this particular HEA.

Rachel Hill | 487 comments Has anyone read Into the Wilderness? My sis is reading it bc she's an outlander fan & I'm curious about it and if it lives up to the hype.

message 26: by Susan (new)

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments I have not read Into the Wilderness, but I just finished Rules of Seduction, which I liked very well. Good aspects: 99-cent ebook, little sex, good characters. Poor: "gay" friend, written in First Person (I like that format but not everyone does).
