Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Okay. Wow it starts late. When does the semester end?)

Avery wasn't comfortable either with all the looks coming their way. She was tense, wanting to fight back, use her powers, but she kept them under control. She swallowed nervously, casting a glace at her brother.

Giulia ((We've got not Thanksgiving so my first break is at Christmas, the 19th of December. I heard the term times are short but intense 0.0 ))

"They're in mint condition. Good," Dr Herman approved, walking by the beds where they were to be laid down on. "Bring them here." Guidon attempted to step closer to see, but a staff member halted him from approaching the circle dais with the beds on. Ander saw they were being taken to be held down on beds and knew that they may not be able to leave with so many people around. 'If we leave, it might have to be now,' he warned his sister.

message 153: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Wow that is short. I started August 20th then get out beginning of December. I get a few days next month.))

How? There are too many of them. There was fear in her voice. I can't keep this many people back. She was looking around at all the people, mainly the ones that were the closest. She was wanting to fight back, trying hard not to. She just wanted to go back home....back to the woods. Even if they got out of this place how would they get back out there?

message 154: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((Travelling north as we speak (: I've already started work, I had to write a 1000 word essay on junk DNA to be assessed by my academic tutor so I guess it's not entirely free))

'Let me see,' he replied, using his vision to see the surrounding hallways and rooms. He spotted a possible escape route this way - they just needed an opportunity to do so. He saw as they were being taken to the centre, a red light turned on. What did it mean?
"Lock the doors. No one allowed in or out," Raleigh commanded to the staff members with the light turning on. "Safety, sanitation and secrecy," he explained to the Guidon and Tyler.

message 155: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Before school even starts? That sucks. :/ Did it go well do you think?))

Tyler nodded. It made sense. He was interested to see what they were going to do. See how exactly the outsiders were different.

Avery looked worriedly at her brother. How were they going to get out of here now? As the others lead them to the beds Avery was trying to get out of their grip.

message 156: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((I tried my best...let's see what my tutor says when I meet them!))

Ander couldn't keep calm anymore - it would be nearly impossible for them to escape with so many people. He didn't know what to say to Avery, now that his plan had failed.

"Strap them on and begin test 1," Dr Herman demanded, going to the computer desk to look at their biometrics when they would be hooked up. "You two, downstairs with the doctor," Raleigh told them, pointing at where they should be.

message 157: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((So what did they think? Again sorry for my sporadic posts. I'm on most days but normally just app))

What are we going to do? She asked him, more than slightly panicked. She didn't want to be stuck here forever. Didn't want to die here. It wasn't fair. She was strapped down to the chair, wanting to fight them but how could they get out?

Logan quickly hurried to the spot that was pointed out, awaiting more orders. This was exciting. First day and already seeing the outsiders.

Evelyn sighed as she put more papers in the filing cabinet. So much paperwork...

message 158: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((They actually really liked it! I'm very pleased. Just need to work on better citations but so far, I'm on track (: ))

'I don't know...' he finally admitted, scared that his mistake would cost them their lives. Were these people trying to kill them? He wish he understood all that they were saying so they could find out. The men escorting Ander took him to the bed and forced him to sit.

Tyler followed Logan and stood by the doctor who checked the systems. "Test 1? It looks like it could be a blood test?" Tyler suggested quietly to Logan upon seeing a clipboard lying around.

Luna was already annoyed and it had just been an hour into their placement. As she continued to file things, she then came across a discrepancy. "Uh Evelyn, do you have file 208-96 by any chance?" Evelyn had the group of numbers right next to Luna, so she assumed the missing file might have been misplaced on her desk.

((Btw can Evelyn say no please haha?))

message 159: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Sorry Giulia. I suck at replying >.< How are classes going?))

She watched what they were doing to him, terrified. She tried to move against the restraints but it was useless. She didn't understand anything that was happening. She just wanted to go home.

Logan looked at the clipboard then too, looking through the list of tests listed. There were a few he hadn't heard of before but he knew what most of them were.

Evelyn looked through the stack of files on her desks, double checking when she didn't see it. "No, it's not over here."

message 160: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((No problem! They're a bit varied now; some are mainly recap, others are very new very quickly. It's just the first year thing to get everyone on the same level as one another. Otherwise, it's alright for now! Wish I just have more time to do stuff out of class! Btw did you see the new Berzen rider post and their reply to my request? I mean, if you thought the group was no longer active, why are you posting??))

Tyler tried to compose himself as he was forced to lie down, but felt fear rising in his throat as they pulled the straps to keep him still. 'Avery, how much can you budge the straps?' he checked, not wanting to quit just yet.

"Clement, Garrow, approach," Dr. Herman commanded, watching as two heavily protected technicians walked towards the subjects with syringes. Tyler couldn't help wonder if it might be easier to anethesize them since grown, possibly dangerous Outsiders may cause problems.

"Really? That's strange. I can't keep processing without that file...I'll just go to the department that it got sent down to then, and see what happened." She turned to her computer and tracked the file. "I don't believe it," she suddenly said, seeing the logo come up on the screen, "it's a CAGE file."

message 161: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((And now she's left the group? What was that all about?))

Not much at all. She told him. She stopped trying to move but did shove the technicians back when they started coming towards them. What were those things they had? What are we going to do?

"You're kidding!" Evelyn stood to walk over to Luna's desk to see. "Wonder what that file is exactly? I mean CAGE.... it could be anything."

((And I just realized I got us both confused XD I've been using the wrong name for a few posts. Tyler is me. Ander is Avery's brother))

message 162: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((Urgghhhhhhh I don't want to deal with this immaturity. And shoot, right haha. Let's just leave it as it is and continue. I knew I was getting something wrong.))

The technicians came beside Ander's and Avery's beds and produced their needles. It would be a small draw, a simple enough procedure for those who lived in the city, but to the Outsiders, it could be alarming. "Hold them down. The faster this goes, the more things we'll get to know by the end of today," Dr Herman ordered. Others arrived to hold their struggling arms down. Ander became very still as he looked at the needle in horror.

"Exactly, and I wonder whether we even have the authority to trace it down. I don't know what clearance we even have..." she replied as she double checked. 208-96 was registered to CAGE for sure, under their New Horizons Development program. She didn't understand what that was.

message 163: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((I mean she left so there's really nothing left to deal with.))

((And Avery has telekinesis remember ;) She used that to push them away. They were already strapped down))

message 164: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((That's good then. And I know they're strapped down, it's just further holding for further effect. Feel free to have Avery push them again, I've got a plan in mind for that))

message 165: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery once again shoved them back, not about to let them anywhere near her or Ander. There had to be some way out of here.....

"I mean there's no harm in asking. If we don't have access we can say we didn't know."

message 166: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Dr Herman regarded them and finally came up with a decision. "Remove the boy and bring him to me," he commanded. The men walked over and started to unbind Ander. He was surprised and confused, wondering if his sister would be next. The whole lab looked at the doctor, awaiting his idea.

Luna was hesitant, but she knew Evelyn was right. She needed this file. They simply needed to go to the floor manager at the end of the room and ask. Simple enough. "Let's."

message 167: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery watched, frowning. What were they doing? Her eyes darted to the one who seemed in charge for a moment before looking back at her brother.

Tyler wasn't sure what Dr. Herman had in mind and was watching intently. What that girl was doing....it was amazing.

"Want me to come? Technically the file is yours."

message 168: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Ander kept his eyes locked on Avery until he was forced to look away to take the steps down off the experimental platform. He was brought closer to the doctor, over which whom he towered. Ander kept his chin high and looked down at the people around him. He had noticed that his sister and him were tall for the population here - maybe it was all their years of outdoor activity as opposed to this lifestyle.

Guidon looked at Tyler, confused at the proceedings. He didn't feel the same fascination Tyler was - he was frightened of these people at their powers. Dr Herman sighed and picked up a scalpel from the surgical dish. "I don't know how much you will understand," he began slowly and methodically, "but if you do not submit to the injection, we will hurt him."

"You're coming with me Evelyn. This was half your idea as much as mines," Luna stated, getting out of her chair and beginning her way down to the end of the corridor where the supervisor was.

message 169: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Her eyes widened. She wouldn't let him hurt Ander. Her shoulders slumped in defeat and she nodded. she'd let them use that...thing on her.

message 170: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Dr Herman looked at her a bit longer while keeping the scalpel in hand. "I'll take at as your surrender. Take her blood sample," he ordered from the technicians who approached her once more with their needle. They prepared the disinfectant swab and readied the syringe for insertion. Ander watched with dreaded fear, feeling useless as he had no power to protect her with two guards at his side and a scalpel poised near his throat.

message 171: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery was trying hard to not use her powers, her eyes locked on her brother. I'm okay. She told him, though she was still nervous, terrified, about what they were going to do. As they came near she shrunk down a bit but was trying to stay as still as possible so they wouldn't hurt him.

"Alright." Evelyn said simply, getting up to follow.

message 172: by Giulia (new)

Giulia 'It'll be alright Avery. I'll protect you if they hurt you too much,' Ander tried to reassure her, keeping eye contact with his sister as they made the insertion and drew blood. In a few seconds, they were finished and pulled out the needle. A bandage was applied to the small wound and the technicians dissipated from her side. "Now the boy," Dr Herman said with menacing calm, keeping the scalpel perfectly still against Ander's skin.

Luna walked to the end and waited for the supervisor to look up from her work.
"The applicants. What do you want?" she stated with a bored tone. "I'm missing a file, and I cannot continue cataloguing without it," Luna explained. "Number?"
"208-96." The woman typed away and clicked the print button without thinking. "Printing it out now. Pick it up from the machine at the end and bring it back for me to sign it out," she ordered. Seemed simple enough, Luna considered.

message 173: by Elizabeth (last edited Nov 20, 2015 07:00PM) (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery flinched for a moment when he needle entered. She glanced at the technician for a brief moment when it was pulled back out before looking back to her brother. It hadn't been as bad as she'd been expecting but she still didn't like it. Didn't like the feeling of being trapped. I'm okay. She told him, watching him intently now to see what they were doing.

"Thank you." Evelyn said, glancing at Luna before she went off to get the paper. She was just as curious about what the CAGE file would be about.

message 174: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Ander remained still when the needle as inserted then removed, only releasing his breath when it was over. The pain of being held as blackmail over his sister felt more painful than the physical test - he simply wanted to return by her side. "Very good. Now we know how we may operate. Put on the neurological signalling helmets," Dr Herman ordered. They brought out electrodes to attach to their heads.

Luna went to retrieve it with Evelyn. There were many pages being printed out and when it was finished, the cover leaf settled on top of the pile. It read: 'Centre for Anomalous Genetic Experimentation (CAGE) Report on Outsider Patients - Classified Red Clearance'. Luna picked it up cautiously and looked at Evelyn, wide eyed.

message 175: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery didn't like this either. She shrank down a bit again as they began to attach the things to her but was being careful not to fight back so Ander wouldn't be hurt. What do you think this is?

message 176: by Giulia (new)

Giulia "Switch them on," Dr Herman ordered. The machine powered one, lighting up and making a faint buzzing noise. 'I don't know...do you feel any pain?' he called to her, worried about the contraption. "Doctor, we're picking up something," a technician called.

message 177: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) I'm fine. She told him, not exactly sure what these things were supposed to be doing.

"Picking up something else." another technician called.

Tyler was watching fascinated, waiting o be told what to do.

Evelyn glanced at the stack. She was curious about this, but once the supervisor saw the heading would she still let them take this? She doubted it.

message 178: by Giulia (new)

Giulia "Put the two graphs up on the screen," Dr Hermann ordered, looking at the large projection on the wall. The two graphs, peaking at points of high brain usage, showed two unusually tall and jagged areas. "Pinpoint where they're coming from," he ordered. The technicians began typing away, trying to centralise which brain lobe the signals were coming from. 'What is it doing?' Another set of peaks formed on the screen.
Guidon watched the process, squinting to understand the small text on the screen. "Actually, you know what?" Dr Hermann then said, "Let the applicants have a go."

"Evelyn...you're seeing this?" Luna questioned, her mind racing. It would be confiscated, yes, but they couldn't keep it.

message 179: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Tyler glanced nervously at Guidon as Dr. Hermann said this but nonetheless came forward. The brain had always fascinated him, and he'd written a few papers on the way it worked....hopefully they could figure this out.

I don't know. Avery was confused, nothing was hurting, but she still didn't like this.

Evelyn nodded. "what should we do?" She glanced at the copier on the other side of the room. Could they? they could sneak one set back while the other was taken?

message 180: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Guidon glanced between the doctor and his friend before gulping nervously and walking to one of the machines the technicians had moved away from to let him sit. He looked over the screen, trying to understand what the program was and how he was to begin.

"We need to give her this paper...but whose to say we don't copy this?" she then suggested uncharacteristically. She wanted to know its contents so badly. "Then we'll tear it up. No one will find us with it," Luna added.

message 181: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Tyler glanced at his friend again for a moment, trying to note as much as he could of what was on the screen. What were those spikes in their brain waves? It didn't make sense. The two weren't doing anything. He chewed on his lip. He moved to hit one of the spikes, see if it brought up any extra information.

Evelyn nodded, just as curious about CAGE as Luna. "Let's do it. You copy, I'll keep watch."

message 182: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Guidon stared at the screen a little while longer as he focused on what he needed to do. He needed to source where the waves were coming from. To do that, he needed to find which electrode was firing the most. But how?

Luna nodded discretely in return and moved one machine over to the copier. There, she hurriedly and nervously pushed the report through. It wasn't thick but it was going to take some time. Hopefully the floor manager would believe the copier was jammed, and hopefully she didn't look this way.

message 183: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Luckily no one was coming their way as Evelyn stood guard. What would those files say? All the rumors of CAGE.....what were they really doing?

message 184: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Luna finally copied the papers over and handed them to Evelyn, while grasping the originals in her hands and walking to the floor manager. She was nervous as she handed over the file, wondering if they would be caught. As soon as the manager glanced at the title of the file, her eyes widened and she stood abruptly. "You are not to tell anyone you saw this file. Understood?" she demanded of the pair, trying to hide her mistake.

message 185: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Evelyn had hidden the papers under her shirt, tucking them ino the back of her pants for the moment as they talked to he manager. "Of course ma'am." Evelyn said. "We didn't know what the file was." She was hopping they wouldn't have to talk for long. She wanted to find out about EDGE.

Avery glanced at her brother, still trying to figure out what the two are doing. At least they aren't doing anything to hurt us... Even if they had threatened her brother not long before.

Tyler frowned. There was a spike again.

message 186: by Giulia (new)

Giulia "You never read this, saw this or anything. I'll override the system to let you two get on with your filing without this," she continued to explain obviously angry with herself for getting them all in trouble. "Now go away. I'll be watching."

'It's dangerous that we don't know what they're doing...' Ander couldn't help but think pessimistically and nervously. When were they going to be finished with her? It pained him to see her strapped down.

"Another..." Guidon murmured to himself, finding the cephalic electrode mapping and working the program to indicate where the spikes were coming from. "Frontal and temporal lobes firing..." he continued to whisper, trying to figure out what they had in common. He also tried to deduce from the spikes what the pattern told him. "Sir, is there a model book of brain wave patterns to look at?" he had to question, not being able to access the database on these locked machines.

message 187: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Yes Ma'am." the last statement made her nervous. When were they going to get a chance to look at it? They might have to wait until later on after work.

Yeah.... He was right. How long do you think they'll do this for?

((And I know nothing about the brain so not sure what to really say for them))

message 188: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((It's alright, I'll just wrap up the sciencey bit then))

Luna nodded and walked away from the table, hands shaking from their act. She glanced at Evelyn silently and gulped. When they came to their desks, she whispered "We'll look at it back in our rooms. Just hide it for now."

"We'll give you one more minute boys," Dr Hermann said impatiently as the model book was handed to Guidon. He scanned and assimilated as much information as possible before he came up with his rough conclusion. "Sir, the signals are from the electrodes are localised in the regions of the brain responsible for many normal actions but such spikes only correspond to...uh...communication, sir," he said half surely. It was a bizarre idea, but it was the only conclusion he could draw.

message 189: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Chem stuff I get. Brain stuff not so much.))

Evelyn nodded, she was a bit shaky too as they continued on with their work, scared that someone would figure out what they had done. What would happen if they did figure it out?

Tyler was frowning. It didn't make sense, but the powers that the two had displayed earlier didn't make sense either. "Is there a way to test the theory? See if that is what the signals are?"

message 190: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Luna sat back down shakily and glanced at Evelyn. What had they done? She didn't know what would happen to them if they were discovered, but so far it seemed only the pair of them knew. She wouldn't assume it of Evelyn, but how could she be sure Evelyn would also keep this quiet? They didn't know each other very well.

Dr Hermann looked at the pair of them hard before standing up and walking over to see their work. "You," he pointed to Tyler, "make them talk. Use whatever you need in this lab. You," he then pointed to Guidon, "you confirm your hypothesis from here."
Ander watched as the instructions were issued to the two boys, confused what their position in the lab. They weren't dressed like the others, and weren't being treated in the same way.

message 191: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((Want to leave Luna and Evelyn for now then when Tyler and Guideon are done skip to that night?))

What do you think they're going to do? Avery asked her brother

Tyler nodded, nervous. Make them talk how? they hadn't said a thing from the report he read when he got here. He wasn't sure how to do this. He looked around the room, trying to see what all was there.

message 192: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((Sure))

"Another signal," Guidon said, but more quietly so only Tyler could hear. He had no idea how to do it either, but he thought maybe he could help in some way. It was not about them talking out loud to each other, it was some strange connection of the mind. Perhaps fear would get them to talk, or curiosity?

Ander simply watched as Tyler looked around the room. What were these two doing? They looked even younger than Avery and him. Did they even belong here?

message 193: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Tyler began to shuffle a bit nervously in Ander's direction, not wanting to get too close, they still didn't know what he could do. Tyler cleared his throat. "I'm assuming the two of you can understand us. you know, it'll go a whole lot faster and easier if you'd just work with us. Do you have a name?"

message 194: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Ander stared with wide eyes as Tyler came closer and began talking to him. No one here had talked to either of them like equals - just talked over or about them. He glanced to Avery, unsure how to proceed. What did Tyler want?
Guidon sat nervously at the computer, waiting to see any sort of signal.

message 195: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Avery looked back to her brother, unsure as well. I guess....I guess just our names couldn't hurt? She wouldn't tell them about the others out there but she didn't see how just telling them who they were would hurt anything. She hoped.

message 196: by Giulia (new)

Giulia "Signal," Guidon stated a bit over-excitedly, startling Ander's attention. Ander then finally opened his mouth, trying to find the voice he had so little used since coming here. "Ander," he managed to croak, the words unusual to all those present in the lab. There was am almighty hush as they realised the Outsiders could understand what they were saying. Dr Herman remained very still, calculating his next move.

message 197: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Tyler smiled. it was working! "Alright. Ander then....we're just trying to figure out more about you guys." he bit his lip. "She's your sister right?" He nodded in Avery's direction. Then glanced back at the doctor. what should he ask?

message 198: by Giulia (new)

Giulia "His speech is triggering normal brain waves sir. The unusual one we saw before must be due to some internal communication..." Guidon deduced to the best of his abilities.
Ander nodded slowly in response to Tyler's question. Dr Herman finally removed the knife from Ander's throat, easing the tension in the room.

message 199: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((forgot about the knife....))

Avery relaxed after the knife was gone. You okay? she asked her brother. This new boy didn't seem too bad. and Ander was in less danger now.

message 200: by Giulia (new)

Giulia ((You always remind me about things so I should remind of some things sometimes ;) ))

"Sir, I'm starting to see the pattern between two peaks - one is receiving, another is sending," Guidon finally worked out, watching as Avery's message registered to her electrodes. Ander glanced around, wondering what was supposed to happen next.
"Very good boys. Now, come back to where you were," Dr Herman ordered.
