Grimm Readers ~ How to Play, Help, & Discussion

Yes, I saw that but wasn't sure if it was just a generic list and we could only use the one's for our team.

Beauty & the Beast
Jack & the Beanstalk
Rumpelstiltskin
When you say retelling does it have to be an actually retelling or can it have similar themes?

Also, I have set up a spreadsheet which (hopefully) does most things automatically using a number of formulas. Anyone is welcome to borrow it if they need (although there are sure to be better ones around...). It's linked over at Snow White.

I'm on Team Sleeping Beauty. If I read

Task Assignment: Pink
pg count 347 = 30 points
retelling: 50 points
team name: 50 points
mini challenge: time 20 points
total points: 150 points

Stephanie - Mrs Lothaire Daciano (I think that is it,lol)
Not sure if you have back up players or not......
It doesn't even make sense to make a Starter Plan for the next couple of months. This challenge has crashed it!

and...
I understand your message above, but what if it is clearly a re-telling, but not on a list, not been shelved? Still okay? [book:Huntsman's P..."
Yes teamies can read the same book :)
If you have a little less known one that's not been shelved enough and you know it's a retelling you can use it.
Tarzan I'll have to check Wikipedia unless you find one that fits the shelf/list criteria.

All the teams names are fair game for both the team name bonus and author initial one.

I've got a back up on standby I'll get ahold of her this evening.

*pats Ezi on the back* just breathe dear I bet you can work then in :)

yes
yes

I'm on Team Sleeping Beauty. If I read

So, no points for task assignment? Only the other things?

Ok first question... we need to have all the points/books posted on the Wednesday they're due, or the Tuesday night, the day before? ..."
Ok on the changing of themes:
Q: When the theme/task changes what if my team isn't finished with the current set of 10?
A:That's not a problem, just finish out your current 10 and in the meantime you can still be working on the new theme/task too. Just can't use one book for both theme/tasks.
Mini challenge books need to be in before the next one starts. They don't have to be reported by the captain but do need to be read and posted in your team thread. So have those finished on Tuesdays.
Yes read the same books and each person gets the points :)
I will post themes and mini's a day early so anyone can hunt books as much as they'd like.

When you do include all of the other books and their points that didn't fit the 10 so I'll have some kind of documentation on them.
My above post, just wanted to stress that you don't have to have them reported by the time it changes with the new mini and or theme.

If I've missed any team let me know and I'll get it added.
Tomorrow I'll get the players shelves linked to their threads along with creating and linking the overall game spreadsheet. If you'd like me to link your team's spreadsheet I will do that tomorrow (or whenever it's ready) too.

If I've missed any team let me know and I'll get it ad..."
Jenne, I'd love it if you could link our spreadsheet. Peter Pan Spreadsheet

Keep in mind if everyone reads the same book, that makes getting your team's set of 10 more difficult...

✪If you read a book that doesn't fit the theme/task or the mini challenge you can still claim page points and bonus points if applicable
If I read a book that doesn't meet the task or mini assignment or any of the bonus points, can you still get the page points for it?

Love your spreadsheet. I "borrowed" it since I have no clue on how to make one. It's been too many years since I have had to use anything other than word.
Megan wrote: "Would the word "hands" in the title count towards telling time since it's the hands on the clock that actually tell the time?"
Hands by itself don't refer to time...I don't see that at all
Hands by itself don't refer to time...I don't see that at all

I'm gonna say no to that one.

If 5 people read the same book and it fits the task you'd have 5 towards your 10 done :)

Yes any book you read during the challenge that meets the page minimum will count for page points even if it doesn't fit anything else.

I requested access so I can link it so if you get some random email it's me :)

I requested access so I can link it, again random email it's me :0
If anyone is wanting to avoid the request access thing, set your spreadsheet to anyone with a link can view it.

Let me know if it's not viewable.

I just added you. Please let me know if you can not get in it. this my first time using google spreadsheets.

Why would it make it more difficult? Couldn't each book read be counted even if it's the same book?

Yeah, Jenne confirmed this up in msg 407. 10 people could read the same book and it would count as all 10 tasks complete.
