Shy, for every team challenge I've done I make a shelf for book possibilities. When the challenge is over I just delete the whole shelf. I always add and remove books from it. Makes things much easier. I hope it helps.

2. For author initials bonus, how do you handle anthologies and dual authored books?

I guess with anthologies and dual authors any author would be useable for the AI bonus.

I'm not sure I understand bonus scoring. Is bonus scoring for books that do not otherwisw fit the task? Or do all books read have to fit the task?


You gave the example of immature characters for Peter Pan. I read 2 that fit this task. Then, because I am dying to read this book, I read Running with the Wind, #3 Mermem of Ea which does NOT fit that task, BUT it does have Mermen in the series title. Does this earn bonus points, or do I need to wait to read this book until it fits a task in someway?

Good question and it's probably one everyone has wondered about.

Bonus scoring is applicable if the book fits the task or not.

I'm gonna do a basic recap:

All books you read during the time of the challenge count (so long as they're at least 150 pages) towards some scoring.

-page points no matter if they fit a bonus or a task
-if they fit the author initial, re-telling, or a team name
_if applicable the mini challenge

Tasks:
If your book fits the task it goes towards the set of 10. If it doesn't you still can use page points, and any bonus point(s) available.


So lets use Running with the Wind for an example.

Your team's theme/task is an immature character Running with the Wind doesn't fit the task but you'd still score

249 pages = 25 points
TN bonus (merman) = 50
No AI Bonus = 0
No Re-telling bonus = 0

I'm going to post the 1st task and mini challenge in just a bit so everyone can get some ideas going. (FYI it'll be stupid simple this first set so we can all get our feet wet.

I'll also throughout the week get all of the teams updated with players links as well as discussion and spreadsheet links.

Minors don't count for bonuses. They're only there to help me with options when creating theme/tasks for each team.

Susan just made an awesome list of all of the potential author initials. I'll post it here and put it on each team's thread as well.

I would check and see if it's on any listopia for a retelling or if it's been shelved as one. I think that particular book is more mythology than it is a fairy tale.

You wouldn't score a bonus for merman since it's not in the title.
