Week 22: What are you reading?

I am figuring out that I am massively in love with audiobooks, and I'm starting to run out of titles that I really wanted to listen to. I'm hoping some of you might have some great audiobook recommendations!

Aside from my search for a good new audiobook, I'm listening to Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay after it was CPL's staff pick in The Clipper from May. I'm also reading A God in Ruins, but I'm not far enough yet to make any judgments.

I read Eighth Grave After Dark by Darynda Jones, and then yesterday I read Murder on Amsterdam Avenue by Victoria Thompson. Both were great books, in really good series. Emma (now at IR) got me signed up on NetGalley, and I've got the new Mercedes Lackey to read there, and I was thinking of checking out Sandman by Neil Gaiman (he and Amanda Palmer were the guest editors for The New Statesman this month, which looks interesting).
As far as audio, I've still got Cocaine Blues to listen to, and then not sure what to get. Maybe see if Ann Perry's mysteries are on audio.

If you haven't yet listened to "The Raven Boys" by Maggie Stiefvater as read by Will Patton, he is simply captivating. In fact, I'd recommend you check out any of the books he's narrated.

Ann, The Sandman is phenomenal. Some of Gaiman's best work. Last year, I'd heard something about a movie adaptation being in the works, involving Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I hope that is true.

I finished two books, Still Alice (loved!) and The third wife (very good!). I am trying to finish up the 8 books by my bed with bookmarks halfway through them all. I start a book, see one I want to read (the hazard of working in a library), start that one, and end up with a bunch that I need to finish! I am now going to finish Every fifteen minutes; I was really into it at the beginning but it was starting to get a little, well, boring. Hope it gets interesting again soon.

I just started "Night Road" by Kristin Hannah for my audiobook. I am on book 3 in the delightful YA Ruby Red Trilogy, and I am also reading "The Paladin Prophecy" by Mark Frost (another YA trilogy I think...shocking!).

I have Still Alice on my bookshelf at home (pretty certain) so maybe I'll put that in the rotation sometime soon. I also have several books that I've been "reading" for a long time because I started something else, so I hope to finish them up soon as well.

I thought once school was done that I would have more time for reading. Nope. Between work and interning, I seem to have zero time. Which is sad for me because I have a whole pile of library books to read. Lol.

Still, for this week, I am working on "The Cultural Lives of Whales and Dolphins" plus two YA novels: "Briar Rose" and what seems to be the new popular novel "An Ember in the Ashes."

Even if you've read Harry Potter, I loved the audiobooks because the narrator had a different voice/accent for each character.

Liz, I know you mentioned you wanted to read The Last American Vampire. If you've not read it yet then you may want to listen to the audio book. Thats how I read it and it was very easy to listen to.

Thanks for all the great audiobook recommendations, everyone. Vivian, I do have The Last American Vampire on my list. Maybe that'll be my next pick. I'm really enjoying Roxanne Gay's Bad Feminist. It's highly entertaining and pertinent.
