The use of stories within the central story is so intriguing and I have so many questions about Khalid. Shahrzad is such a feisty protagonist and I LOVE it! She is a little haughty and arrogant on times (which reminds me of Celaena Sardothien) but really appreciate her independent spirit and resourcefulness. (hide spoiler)]

The first quarter is so sad as that's all I initially wanted was everyone to be reunited and happy. They are reunited but none of them are made happy for it. It's going to be interesting to see how the magic carpet continues to play a part in the story. I think Shazi will use it to return to Khalid. (hide spoiler)]

There seems like untold ways the plot can go and it's surprising that this is only a duology. Seems like a series could be made from this world and these characters.
