Ryver Bills i thought this book was really good book but, i didn't think it was too scary. what are your thoughts?

Ashley I don't really find too many books scary. I thought it was more creepy than scary. This is actually one of my favorite books of all time.

J. Dallas The only part of the book I found Scary/Creepy is when George is outside and he looks up at his daughter's window and sees her standing there and directly behind her is the face of a pig with little red eyes glaring at him. I can just picture that happening and it gets me.

Jaime This book did not scare me but there were some chills in it. If you want to read some scary accounts of hauntings and possessions read some of Ed and Lorraine Warren's book accounts of their lives as demonologists.

I was very scared by The Demonologist as well as Amityville Horror.

I read this book over 20yrs ago and that is the one scene that I remember scaring me after all these years!

You didn't miss anything by not seeing the films. They were all pretty bad. Have you read any of the follow up books of the Amityville Horror?

Jaime There are some passages that emit fear. The scariest aspect about this book is that it could be all true or blown out of proportion. One of the team of investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren speak at length about this case in several of their books. Search those out for more graphic details.

Robert Wright Considering this was originally published as non-fiction, it appropriately comes off as more creepy or disturbing than truly scary.

To have the big scares a horror novel delivers, you really need to employ some specific tricks and pacing that just wouldn't be appropriate to non-fiction.

I think it is really really disturbing, but the pig stuff... Scary O_o

It is my favorite of the genre as well.

And that is all it takes to creep me out XD

Melissa Monica, I'm with you on this one. I was a little older than you, perhaps 16 when I read this book. In the living room waaaaaay after everyone else in the house went to bed. I finished it in one sitting, missed school the next day, and wasn't "right" for a week! Scary!

Holly The pig in the window scene scared me as a teenager.

I recently watched the film. As an adult I was absolutely terrified about their homeowner's policy and whether or not it would cover the damages to the house. Also, their overall financial situation was paranoia inducing.....how awful to not know how you are going to make your house payments.

Oh, how our priorities change as grow older.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* I dont find many books scary. If I try to think of a chilling scene from this book it was definitely the pig drawing/ noises outside.

Arlene Hayes I read it many years ago, but I still think it's the scariest book I've ever read. I think that's because I imagined myself there, in that house. I saw the film soon after, and it wasn't as scary as the book.

Lisa Jane I never believed in the haunting but did find the book creepy and am looking for another book as creepy , any recommendations anyone

Jim Swike It was very scary, especially if you don't care if it is true or not.

Holly Only from a homeowners point of view. Lots of non-paranormal things wrong with this house; a real money pit.

THe thought of what would have happened to me if I"d missed school just because I stayed up late, gives me the willies *right now*...

Jeanine Celentano I didn't think it was scary in book form but the movie was creepy
