I loved his characters on Leverage and Eureka.

Definitely listen to RPO! Imagine the action scenes with all excitement and drama he adds to it.

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Yay Tasha! I'm never a good one to keep track of my team's stuff during a Toppler. As Queen Meanie I have to be available to punish those who try to cross me. LOL

Academy Award (Oscar) - Mrs. Dalloway, Cold Comfort Farm
Independent Film Awards - Caught, Open, The Mark Of The Angel, This Cake Is for the Party: Stories, The Perfect Circle, Whirl Away, Light Lifting, The Sentimentalists
Humor - Zuleika Dobson, Better Living Through Plastic Explosives
Classics - Lady Susan, The Watsons, Sanditon
Hugo Award - Ancillary Justice

Stephanie I am really excited because I just picked up Life of Pi by Yann Martel off hold from the library. I am also reading this for June Challenge of Planes, Trains, Automobiles. I have it till 6/23/15 so it works out perfect :-) Woohoo!! For Beauty I will read Travels with Casey by Benoit Denizet-Lewis because what's not beautiful about seeing a dog on a cover of a book ;-)

message 106: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I still need to look to see if I have A beautiful mind and or cool runnings. If I have both I will watch both of them. I've never seen A Beautiful Mind and it has been FOREVER since I saw Cool Runnings.

it is in our reporting thread

message 110: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I think I'll read No Hope for Gomez! as one of my toppler books. It is short (194 pages on Kindle) and should fit in two categories: Independent and Humor. And not that it counts for the toppler, but it also won the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Award and was an International Book Award Nominee.

It was actually hilarious to hear him talk about himself.

I listened to the audio version of this solely so I could hear him read it. I could listen to Will Wheaton talk every day, all day. I think he was the reason I started watching Eureka in the first place.

I've never seen Eureka. I've only seen Wil Wheaton in Star Trek and Stand By Me and of course Big Bang Theory :) I checked it out though on YouTube. I will have to see if I can find it on cable.

He doesn't actually show up until around season 2/3 but the show is worthwhile. Older Will Wheaton is a very very sexy Will Wheaton... -coughs- OH, I'm not sure if you'd be into it but the Web Series 'The Guild' is another Will Wheaton go to... Nothing like seeing a sexy man in a kilt.

I didn't get into Star Trek until a few years ago, might've been weird if I crushed on him in that show. XD

I just added it too.

message 130: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2100 comments I think I'm done with my gophering. I came up with the following:
The Giver by Lois Lowry Children's Newbery Award 1994
The Road by Cormac McCarthy Pulitzer 2007
Blindness by José Saramago made into a movie
The Drowning Girl by Caitlín R. Kiernan Bram Stoker Award 2012
Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill Bram Stoker Award 2007

I will commit to reading three books, but I usually end up reading a couple more than I anticipated, so I might be able to finish them all (it will also depend a bit on how and where I will spend the midsummer weekend).

message 131: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments The Giver is so good that you'll want to read the rest of the books in the quartet! And it's a short series for the yearly challenge :)

Stephanie Hi team!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Well, I looked for both A Beautiful Mind and Cool Runnings in our DVD collection at home and we don't have them :( but we have the movie, Open Water. I mean really??? If you haven't seen be movie Open Water, it is so bad...I only watched because I worked at Blockbuster then and I got to see it for free lol!

message 137: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Both movies are available in DVD form from Netflix. I have put them at the top of my queue and will send back some other DVDs today, so I should get them in time.

message 138: by Roz (last edited Jun 06, 2015 11:13AM) (new)

Roz | 4530 comments I've been doing a bit of gophering and found a few options.
Tallgrass Spur Award 2008 (reserved through my library)
Rendezvous with Rama BSFA 1973 (reserved through my library)
The Severed Wing Sidewise Award 2002 (ordered)
Replay world Fantasy Award 1988 (ordered)
On Canaan's Side Walter Scott Prize 2012

I'll probably be able to read 2 but I'll try for 3.

message 139: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I haven't even started gophering. I guess I know what I'm doing this afternoon :)

message 140: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Roz, I read Rendezvous with Rama about thirty years ago, and it made quite an impression on me at the time. I still remember aspects of the ending. I hope you enjoy it.

Melissa | 298 comments Peggy-I am jealous you are seeing the FF soon! They are my favorite band and I haven't seen them perform in 7 years (...heavy sigh...)

Thx to Steph & Tasha for getting us rolling!!!! :-)
I have taken quite the break from reading & GR, but am trying to get back into the swing of things in time for the Toppler.

Is there any strategy for us Wesley Chapter Crushers?
(Did you guys hear Spielberg is going to direct Ready Player One?!?!)

I have 2 books that aren't very big and have been made into movies (Breakfast At Tiffanys and The Reader) & I have some original Sherlock (I will have to double check page counts) books to read that count toward my yearly challenge. So maybe I can do 4...?
