Morgan | 158 comments She would be the Edmund character, right? How many similarities does she still have?

message 302: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments That sounded very confusing. Until I realized that wasn't her life story, only her story-story. :D

Hannah (readingrogers) | 20 comments How confusing... XD

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 176 comments I'm just, you know, picturing Edna from The Incredibles...

message 305: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 158 comments Hahaha. I'm sure she doesn't look like that. :)

message 306: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 338 comments Oh my goodness Edna! That lady! XD (Did you know she was actually played by a man?)

message 307: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments From what I understand Summer is the Edmund character. Kendra said that she had all of Edmund and Susan's worst qualities. She reminds me of a character in another series. Her name was Summer and she was mean.

Morgan | 158 comments Amanda wrote: "Oh my goodness Edna! That lady! XD (Did you know she was actually played by a man?)"

She was? Wow.

Summer would be now probably, but I'm talking about the original when they were doing their Narnia play. Kendra?

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
Because Summer wanted Edmund's role, Edna filled more of Susan's.

As she is now ... weeeeell ... you'll see when you meet her in book 4. I will say that she's obsessed with fairy tales, though.

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments Interesting.

So, now that you have a title and logline for book 3, does anyone have any speculations?

message 312: by Sarah (last edited Oct 23, 2016 09:18AM) (new)

Sarah (sarahtaleweaver) | 158 comments These speculations are based on the snippets from the beta-read chat too, thus why they're in spoilers, but . . .

No ONE is allowed touch the memories? Got it. Good thing I'd planned to use two people to pull it off.

6 is spot-on correct though I'm not at liberty to say anything about the others, except for the fact that Clara and Andrew are informed about the events of Petra and Reuben's adventure before meeting up with them.

-_- Kendra, I hate you a little right now. NOBODY TOUCH THE MEMORIES I WILL KIDNAP CHARACTERS IF I HAVE TO SO HELP ME.

(Yeah. The railing is starting now, apparently, not when I actually read the book. Sorrynotsorry.)

And I am mildly disappointed that my headcanon won't happen. I think it would've been very funny to see Clara keep freaking out. Oh well.

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
If it makes you feel better, your headcanon isn't dissimilar to what I was considering would happen when they met in the old book 5. I may post the scene on the AA eventually.

message 316: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments I like that Sarah.
Okay my own speculations.

1. I think Something is going to happen with Reuben and Petra forgetting Rizkaland. (Yes, it should be possible, but I'm still afraid it will happen)

2. Something will separate Clara and Andrew. (Except they're already separated at the beginning, so...)

3. They won't stick around in Rizkaland after things are sorted out.

4. This is about later books, and might only be a deduction. Either way it's spoilerish. (view spoiler)

5. Or, (view spoiler)

message 317: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahtaleweaver) | 158 comments @Kendra: That does make me feel better, yes. And I would like to see that scene.

@Brie: On #3- I would be very surprised if they stuck around in Rizkaland. In most portal fantasy books, there are only two reasons characters would stick around for a long time after they've completed their mission:
(A) It's their first time there and they're supposed to have some position as rulers- thus, the initial mission isn't the complete mission, and they still leave once their time as rulers is over.
(B) They have to wait for the portal to take them back home to show up.
Or, I suppose, both. But all the same, it's quite uncommon, and it makes you feel sorry for the characters. I mean, after all they've been through, they probably have much deeper relationships in the other world, plus their old life is likely to feel hollow and insignificant after they've been running around saving the world. It would almost certainly be hard for them to cope. (Which is something I appreciate in the Rizkaland Legends; Kendra does a very good job of showing how the characters struggle on their return, even in the brief sections and snippets we have of those things.)
And I find the theory about Amber's castle very interesting . . .

message 318: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments I just had a thought that Water and Fire joining might reference when they defeated Amber. With the water and fire mixture. But why would they need it again?

message 319: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments That's what I thought too. Together they're a powerful force though - so I can see them needing to again.

message 320: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments I wondered if you'd had the same thought.
I've also got an idea that Andrew might get pulled into Rizkaland before Clara and she has difficulty joining him. But that doesn't fit well with yet another idea. I'm thinking Isabelle goes to Rizkaland with them. (or Rintae actually I think)

message 321: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments A queen forgets.
The queen remembers.
The queen has enemies.
Her enemies exploit her weakness.
She makes them tremble.
A king loves.
His country is glad.
Love is broken.
Broken love breaks the land.
People have a hard time readjusting.

So what if "Love" refers to Alphego? He is love, and His love makes the country whole. Then my mind went off on... His love is "broken" through His death. And restored through the Oneness of Water and Fire? okay, that's totally crazy...

Another idea... So what if the Queen's weakness isn't her forgetfulness? But because she forgets they are able to exploit another weakness of hers?

What if the King has to pick between the Queen and the country? Her good and their good?

Something makes the Queen forget and remember again. So I'm going to guess that the gifts are involved.

So we know memory is restored to the Queen... I speculate that love is restored to the King too...

I'd guess that a bunch of the book is set on Earth. :)

Because there is so much purple on the mock cover, I'm going to guess Petra plays a large role in this book.

So what if the question about fitting into the other world means fitting back in in Rizkaland?

message 322: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments I just reread the speculations on LDTD before anyone had read it, and it was amusing. I can't believe I (and others) got several speculations right in all that craziness!

I have a few more:

What if Petra ends up on the Isle of Banishment??

I hope the "objects that slip through the worlds" and get collected in Rizkaland get used in Book 3. Or a later book.

SPOILERS FOR LDTD
I was thinking about the line in LDTD's prophecy: "Two girls with twisted fate." We now know some of what that means, but it isn't over yet. What if their roles actually get twisted even more in Book 3? What if Petra becomes like Amber? What if who she is were to be twisted by her contact with the Evil in LDTD? What if she can't help herself? And then I remembered that Amber as Lady Dragon has forgotten all her life beforehand... so... there's that. And then what if Sylvia comes to the rescue and she's the one who saves Rizkaland (too cheesy? ;))? And maybe it's painful and difficult because of their connection and she realizes anew what horrors the people have suffered and she has to deal with it emotionally.

Another idea - not for Book 3, but for a later book (5?) - The Dragon and Alphego have a showdown. A sacrifice.

END SPOILERS

Book 3 might have a desert-like climate or location in it. Or a culture and setting with a different feel from what we've seen so far anyway.

I'm going to speculate that Book 4 will leave me either loving or hating Summer. I'm not sure which.

message 323: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahtaleweaver) | 158 comments A few more speculations:

1. The poem says "a queen forgets." That means that IF people are forgetting things, it'll be Petra forgetting them, not Reuben, and not Clara or Andrew. Some of the moms could also possibly forget things, but I'm betting on Petra. Or it could be a completely different queen who's in Rizkaland and not on earth, but everything Kendra has said leads us to believe that it'll be either Petra or Reuben or both forgetting things.

2. Could the bit about "fitting into your old life" go both ways? The story could center around how it's a struggle for Reuben, Petra, Clara, Andrew, and all the rest to return to life on Earth because they've already lived a pretty full life on Rizkaland and now they have to adjust- but then they go back to Rizkaland and time has passed there and they don't know how to fit in there either? And they feel like they don't quite belong in either world anymore?

3. Could the forgetting somehow be Clara's fault? From the snippets Kendra's shared, we know that she's struggling a lot with the adjustment. Could she somehow (perhaps through one of Amber's magical items which she finds one way or another) wish that she could forget and the pain would stop, but the wish overcompensates and now a lot of people- maybe all the people who've gone to Rizkaland- are forgetting?
(Note: I really hope I'm wrong about this one. If I'm right, I really am going to cry.)

4. I also have a suspicion that Collie Liano (from the very beginning of LDTD) will have a role of some kind in Book 3 . . .

5. Not a speculation about book 3, but about the one that's going to be set in 2025: the book focuses on the kids of the current Rizkaland generation. They've grown up with stories of Rizkaland from their parents and grandparents, thinking that the stories are just that- stories. They've grown up with Laura/Alyce often around, thinking that Laura is an honorary aunt and Alyce is an honorary cousin. Throughout their lives, their parents have hinted that there's going to be something significant happening at some point, probably when they're sixteen. And then one day, "Aunt" Laura or "cousin" Alyce shows up and asks if they want to go on an adventure. And they say yes, because Laura/Alyce have established a reputation for being good for an "adventure"- but this time it's a real adventure, because Laura/Alyce takes them to Rizkaland and they find out it's all real. Every word of their parents' stories- it's all real. And so they're simultaneously way more prepared than any of the current generation were and way more caught off-guard.

message 324: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments It is crazy how much you got right back then.

I'm expecting a sacrifice somewhere for certain.

I don't think there going to be much more twisting of the Lady Dragon and the Tela Du I'd rather think about the later prophecy.

Three sister born in one great hour,
Sister born to weil great poer,
Three sister die in on same day,
And Rizkaland shall pass away. (Or something like that, I'n quoting from memory.)

I take this to mean all three will be in book 7. And die by the knife. Amethyst and Rosalite probably die then too. Or are saved then. But sometime before they need to also be bound by the knife so that they can die.
I wonder if anyone has to marry them. I certainly hope not. And what is Rosalite's plan.

From what I remember, book 4 is the Alexa, Edna, Louise and Quentin book. Which doesn't mean Summer and Tyler can't be in it.

message 325: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments That book 7 speculation is so nice. Way too nice. It can't happen.

And Collie Liano has a completely different book.

message 326: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments Yes - the queen forgets, and Petra and Amber were the queens. And some of the moms... and Amber isn't a queen now.

At least five people die in book 7... so the five you named could be it. But I'm not sure A and R survive that long. Maybe they do. It wouldn't surprise me either way. I'm guessing P, S, and S might be three of them though. I'm not sure yet. And perhaps Laura?

If I remember right, book 4 is about Summer. Unless that changed.

I think Laura does something bad in Rizkaland at some point. It might not be in Rizkaland but I think it's more likely that it is. She seems quite close to that world. Either that or earth...

message 327: by Kendra, The Author Person (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
If I remember right, book 4 has never been about Summer.

message 328: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments Oops, I'm confusing her with Edna. :P

You're the author; I think you know. :)

message 329: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments I think she does.

Kendra did say others might die in that book. But there is Laura, though she could die in a previous book. So maybe you're right about A & R. I think they must be in book 5. I'm really not sure which way to lean about them in relation to Renee. Kendra said they might have been the ones who kidnapped her, but I'm afraid I don't trust you Kendra. And might means nothing.

Or maybe in Book 4 A,E,L,Q have to deal with them. Not get rid of them but deal with them, because they wouldn't be biased.

Or maybe that's when Alphego dies.

I'd like them to be redeemed, but it's unlikely. And they'll probably make me hate them.

message 330: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments You didn't say it Kendra, but I'm pretty sure Rich and Kath will be in book 5. 99% And I know Clara and Andrew have got to be.

message 331: by Erika (new)

Erika Mathews (erikamathews) | 68 comments Maybe Rhoda is furious with everyone for not telling her anything.

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
I don't know that fury is the word for it.

message 333: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments She'd certainly be annoyed.

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
I think she'll be convinced it's a practical joke. Just knowing what I know of Rhoda.

message 335: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments A pretty elaborate practical joke. Maybe when she realizes that it is actuslly another world, she refuses to believe they've been there before.

So, um, I dropped some big plot twists in yesterday's snippet post. I was just wondering if anyone would like to speculate on them:

https://knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.co...?

message 337: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahtaleweaver) | 158 comments LAURA'S MOTHER. WHAT EVEN. I don't even know how to speculate on that; I'm just kind of sitting here going "What. Help. What. Oh my pumpernickel."

Regarding the others- I'm going to murder whoever took Petra's memories. Also- is there a band of memory thieves going around? Because it sounds like someone's been messing with Eric's head, and I might murder them too. Or perhaps just rend them. Rending works.

Also, how the pumpernickel is Clara pregnant? Is this some kind of delayed reaction from Rizkaland? (I guess it could be- even if Clara is de-aged, I can't imagine that the Doors would entirely remove a pregnancy. If Clara got pregnant right before they left Rizkaland, and this is a few months after . . . or it could be even longer, if the baby is de-aged as well.)

The necklace that she threw is the Tullet that Amber had in the first chapter of LDTD.

Just wondering if anyone can come up with any speculations out of this. You guys only have a few days left to earn spec points for a read of Worth of a King!

message 341: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments The only speculation I can make from that that relates to Worth is about the love potion. Perhaps that plays into it somehow?

I suppose dragons are going to play in some how as well. Or do they come later?

message 342: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahtaleweaver) | 158 comments I speculate that Worth will end with the battle in which Amber takes the dragon scale. Or, at the very least, that Worth is setting up for that battle.

message 343: by Kendra, The Author Person (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 650 comments Mod
Your specs don't have to be about Worth. You can spec about anything in the Rizkaland Multiverse.

message 344: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments I speculate against Sarah's speculation. I think Dragon Song fits in between.

message 345: by Brie (new)

Brie Donning (briedonning) | 216 comments We know Petra is going to die, but I just started wondering about Reuben. By extension, Richard. He doesn't have the shared death with Sylvia anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't die around the same time. I'm not sure which is worse, dying together, or one being left. I don't want to think about the End of Rizkaland.

I think Sarah will remain single now.

Some stupid person will attempt to kill Amber and Granite in Worth.
