I have Heir of Fire! Would you like to start soon?
I might not get it for a few more days. You're welcome to start whenever(just hide your thoughts in spoilers) or we can wait a couple of days and see.
I'm totally down to wait! I'm reading Legend by Marie Lu right now, so I didn't even want to start yet. Shall we say, June 1st? If you've got it by then?

No, that's OK! I'm starting it today, and I'M SO EXCITED! I love the world and characters so much.
I read about 50 pages today. Not an amazing start in my opinion, but I'm looking forward to continuing. Did you read much?
I'm on page 70 right now, so we're pretty close. I didn't get sucked in like the last two! But it's getting interesting now.
I'm now on page 140, Chapter 18. I have a few thoughts:(I saw you're on page 70, so I'll try not to put any spoilers down below.)
1. Why is Dorian moving on so quickly? He obviously has a love interest with Sorscha... I thought he was closer to Celaena than to start over with someone else so soon.
2. Maybe it's just me, but the witches couldn't be more boring. They have, like, four or five whole LONG chapters devoted to their hierarchy, but... what does this have to do with the story, again? Alright, they might come into play at some point, but that could happen in Queen of Shadows, for all we know!
3. I want to hear more about Rowan! Why is Sarah J. Maas keeping him a mystery from us? He seems like he could develop into a really awesome character; maybe a snarky bodyguard who reluctantly goes with Celaena to help her become queen, but is a softie underneath. Or he saves a bird from dying, and she falls in love with him. I dunno... I just wanna see him grow. He's kind of cliché right now, but he could be so much more.
4. Celaena's turning into a boring wimp.
5. Chaol is awesome as ever, but he has a super dull part in this.
6. There are too many different POVS now. We have the witches, Chaol, Dorian, Sorscha, and Celaena. It's difficult to remember who's who and where!
7. It's just not sucking me in like Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. I'm very, very sad... It's turning into a bit of a struggle.
How are you feeling about it? What parts do you like/hate? Let me know!
Honestly, I'm not enjoying it that much. :( I can't address everything you did, as I'm only on page 90(sorry! I'll try to catch up. I've just been super busy).It's not sucking me in either. The POV switches are annoying. They just make it hard to get invested in the story. And I really don't even care about Dorian. I mean, I like him as a character, but this isn't his story!! Even once we found out he had magic, he wasn't all that interesting to me. I'd like to see less of him and more of Celaena, Chaol, and even Rowan.
I thought at the start of the series that Celaena could become this character we could relate with, that she would go through some serious change. I hoped that, even though she was an assassin, she would eventually endear herself to me. But that never happened! We saw hints of change here and there, but in the end she's just even colder and more bitter. And like you said, boring. I don't understand most of her actions or her thoughts, even.
I just don't know where this is going. Struggling through it right now, but crossing my fingers that it'll turn around!
Keep going, Ally! I feel you! I read a review, and it said that the beginning and middle ARE super slow because they're building up the world and characters, but then at the end a million things happen! So, hopefully Queen of Shadows will be a little more action-packed! Since this entire book is basically stockpiling info so the series can come together.
I can't believe there are SIX books in this series! And two of them haven't even come out yet!
I'm in Chapter 30, page 255. Where are you?I have to say, Celaena's changing powers... And her Fae form... That whole scene just took my breath away. And when she realized that Rowan was playing with her, while they ran, like two cats, it broke my heart. He's so CUTE!
One thing that's confusing me is Celaena's Fae forms.... So, she's more comfortable in her animal form (which is a human), than in her Fae form? Because all the other Fae are happier in their Fae forms than their animal forms...I dunno - does this confuse you?
Wow, I feel bad... I'm only on page 125. I'm so sorry, but at the time we scheduled the buddy read, I didn't think I'd be job searching. Which I am, and I have almost no time to read. Added to that, I'm not even enjoying this book. Not even a little bit and I'm 100 pages in. And I'll be honest, I just really, really want to call it quits. I hate to do that for a buddy read(plus I love reading with you!) but I don't think I can finish this. All the sudden profanity doesn't sit well with me either. :(

Ally, I finished it. I am promising you, the effort to work through the first two thirds is so rewarding! The ending is amazing! You will be blown away!
I believe you, I just don't think I can do it. I honestly don't have much free time right now, and I don't want to spend the little reading time I have on a book I'm not enjoying. Having to actually WORK through two thirds of a book just to get to a good part is just never worth it, in my opinion. Plus, I make it point to put down any book that pushes the "cleanness" boundaries, which this one has. So...again, I'm sorry, but I just can't finish this series.
OK! Well... I hope maybe someday you'll pick it up again. :) it was fun reading the first two with you.Are there any other books/series that you would like to try?
I don't know...I'm still up for reading The One with you when you get to it, though. Have you read The Selection or The Elite?
I'm reading the Elite right now, and I have the One waiting for me at the library, so I could totally do it!
