This book was a memoir I read in 2008, 2009 or 2010. It was written by an older American woman, a former Quaker. She was a volunteer I think working at the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. I truly enjoyed it but I have not been able to find it again. I think she was working to protect a certain species of endangered bird.
