I actually finished it. One of the students in the class I intern in took a long nap which allowed me to read. But I could not get on to comment.

At the moment cinder is favorite out of the two. Scarlet was good but there were boring parts for me. I think most of us can agree the beginning was on the slower side. But it did pick up.

I will come on later to discuss my thoughts more when I can use the spoiler things.

I heard the next one is really good.

I loved how it picked up from where it left off. I love a series that does that.

Read through chapter 5, which is caught up with where I was the last time I started. I like it better this time, which goes to show that I should read it when I'm not trying to read 3 things at once.

Yes, I lose interest way too often these days. But now I like Scarlet, and I really like Thorne. So hopefully book will be as awesome as Cinder.

The further I read in this the more I realize I can barely remember what the actual little red riding hood story is about haha

I agree! The book bases its characters VERY loosely on the fairytales. The plot is an entirely different thing altogether!

It makes sense. Fairy tales are generally very simple stories - a few chapters at most, so authors need to add more to expand them. I mean, the Disney Cinderella movie is mostly jokes about mice running away from the cat. But I think so far Scarlet follows Little Red Riding Hood even less than Cinder followed Cinderella.

Valid point :) The book mentions Scarlet's red hoodie quite a fair bit and there's a "wolf" and a "grandmother" so that's that covered hehe

Pretty much. Actually, what got me interested in reading the series was that Rapunzel was all alone on a satellite orbiting the moon (or something like that).

I'm really amazed so far at how much I really care about all the characters. Usually in split part narration, I care about some characters more than others. But here I like everybody. We even got a Wolf chapter! Though his brother is clearly the real wolf from the fairy tale. (hide spoiler)]

Ahh you girls are so close to finishing! Yes it's amazing how you end up caring for what happens to the characters! Some books don't even do that at all but this one, the feels!

I actually finished Cress last night. I'll discuss with you guys if you still decide to continue :D

I'm almost done and you're so right! I really care about all the characters and I can't wait to see how it ends and them follow them into Cress where there BETTER be a Kai & Cinder reunion.. Thorne needs to stick around though.. maybe they'll put Iko's personality chip into a cyborg and her and Thorne can fall in love. Wishful thinking haha

Omg I just finished and it was SOOOOO good.. I'm so happy that I have Cress ready to go cause I'd be super sad if I had to say goodbye to these characters until the next book is released.

I like how new characters are introduced and it feels new but in a familiar setting and everyone is a main character :D

Scarlet and Cinder's story felt a separate in this one but it definitely merged together well :)
