Robin (robinsullivan) | 9 comments I tried combining these two - but they don't seem to combine - not sure what the issue is. Any help?

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments They are logged under 2 different author profiles - looks like the same author if you click on the author links for the books you are taken to 2 different profiles.

You need to correct the author name on the book/s you want to combine, which will put the books under the correct profile, then if your brave enough (i m not) merge the 2 profiles. Well thats what I would do.

Then combine the book editions

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 35 comments I think I've taken care of it for you. There was an extra space in the author's name in one of the books, and unless the author's names are exact, they don't show up as being the same book (I had this same problem a few days ago).

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments If you look at the Disambiguation thread, there are two different Michael J. Sullivan's listed. The author of "Avempartha" should have an extra space in his name. I'll work on fixing things.

Edit: All fixed.

Robin (robinsullivan) | 9 comments While you are working on fixing this can you also do the following:

Currently the "main" book is listed as
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50... - Aspirations Media

and "other editions" is

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/63... - Ridan

Can that be reversed because the first one (Aspirations) does not really exist (they cancelled the contract and it got moved to Ridan) so if people click on that Amazon link it goes no where - whereas if they are reversed then the Amazon link works fine.

Thanks.

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments There is no way (that I know of) to manually reverse books. I can delete the one that is no longer valid. Since Amazon no longer has it, it won't be re-imported.

But it looks like the Google preview is attached to that edition. I don't know if you're willing to loose that link.

Robin (robinsullivan) | 9 comments I'll be adding Google Search to the other one as well so that shouldn't be a problem.

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments I tried, but this one needs a super-librarian. Anyone around?

Rats, forgot about that. Thanks for fixing it mlady_rebecca!

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments You're welcome, DarkHeart. Easy fix. No harm; no foul.

Jenn (jenn_reed) | 18 comments I have a book that won't combine:

Author Peter Spufford
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/71...

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60...

One is the English version published in 2003 and the German version published in 2004.

They show up on the same author profile page, so I'm not sure why the combine in not working for this pair.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Jenn, I got them to combine, but what I did first was go to each book record, open it for editing, and save it without any changes. Sometimes when you do this you'll see errors on the book record flagged that are causing a problem with the combine -- I didn't see any errors in this case, but it's possible that doing that reset something that had gone awry. It's a handy trick sometimes. :)
